Exactly. Most people would say that if you're just driving on pavement, you don't need skidplates. Well, if I didn't have my skidplates and bull-bar when I hit that bear, my truck likely would have been totalled, and mechanically disabled. Instead, I just have a busted turn signal.

Meh, just do what I did and rip them off. Problem solved.

1st post: 2003 Oz Pathfinder in the W.Indies
vengeful replied to SurfPath's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
It looks to me like you've damaged the sheet metal under the plastic panel, as well. So even if you replaced the panel, it wouldn't line up properly without the door itself being repaired. Those panels come unpainted, so you would have to have it painted to match the truck, too. -
WD21 OWNERS: What drive train/model trim do you have?
vengeful replied to Precise1's topic in General Forums
From what I've seen, MOST Automatic Pathfinders, R50 or WD21, have the 4.6 gears. Most of the manual transmission Pathfinders, came with 4.3 gears. There are exceptions, but that's the trend that I've noticed. -
B, Here's a link to a PDF written by Keith (System-F) when he did the 5-speed swap in his R50. Part numbers and such will be different, but the mechanicals and overall steps should be very similar. http://www.fnd4pth.com/NPTC.pdf <---Link

Wait...why would you want to turn your truck into a kitchen? BAM!

Wow, you HAVE been out of the loop for a while. I don't even think he still has the HB? He got a Frontier a while back, but may have gotten rid of that, too. I dunno. Haven't seen him round these parts in a LONG time. I was just thinking...."hmm....I wonder what happened to Rami" the other day and BAM.... Welcome back Rami, good to see ya.

With enough time and money, any engine swap is possible. Is it worth it? Depending on what your numbers will look like when you're done, sure. I know someone who just got done putting an International 3.0L Turbo Diesel into an FJ60 Land Cruiser and gets 28MPG and makes 245HP & 320ft-lbs of torque. Up from 11MPG, 130HP and 210ft-lbs on the stock 2F 4.2L I-6. If you can afford it, do it.

The All-Mode Automatic 4WD system is great for 99% of drivers. It does have certain limitations off-road, and for certain modifications, like manual locking hubs. However, if you learn the nuances of the system, how it works, and why, then you will have no issues with it. The Automatic 4WD feature is nice in snowy conditions where the road conditions vary greatly from treated to untreated roads. In heavy snow, you will still want to use 4-Hi.

That's not fair. Had the stupid thing for a week, and has more lift and tire than me, and I've had mine for nearly 6.5 years!

The 2002s are great, depending on which 4WD system it has. If it's got the knob, it's OK, if it's got the lever, it's fantastic. Check out these threads linked below, if you haven't already to find out some important information to ask the dealership selling the vehicle. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=14826 http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=7052 http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=19941 http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=19903 The last one is specifically geared at a 1997 model, but 99% of the advice given applies to the 2002 as well. The only differences you'll find between the two years are the engine/4WD system and some styling differences. The rear suspension was redesigned in 1999 for the 2000 model year, and is more robust and easier to service. Be sure you get the VIN and call the local dealerships to check for service records, and open recalls/TSBs.

Step harder on the brake pedal. There's a shift lock release built into the brake circuit, so that you cannot shift the truck out of park without having your foot firmly on the brake. In colder weather, it may take more force to activate the circuit.

I had no problems fitting a set of 17" Frontier S/C wheels with the same Center Bore as the stock 15s. I also have the Warn Manual Hubs, which are the same part number for the Pathfinder as the Frontier. 0.4cm isn't going to make a difference. The only way to be absolutely 100% sure is to test fit them on YOUR rig.
-
They'll fit fine with 235s. They match the offset of the 15x7s that came on the SE level Pathfinder of that era. If you increase your tire size significantly, however, you may run into some issues.

Max tire size VS Lift Kit Used VS Custom or OE Wheels
vengeful replied to fleurys's topic in R50 FAQ's & Pinned Topics
Year: 1999 lift : AC Lift Coils Wheels : Unique 297 (Cragar Soft 8) 15x8, 3.75" Backspacing Tires : 32x11.50x15 BFG All-Terrain TA/KO Notes: No rubbing at all. This is my second set of 32s on the truck and I didn't have any rubbing issues with the first set either. Granted most of the plastic in the fender wells is gone, and I've got the TJM T-15 bull-bar which creates more bumper clearance for tires. photo : Warning, linked pictures are large. looking at a 97 to replace my rusted out 95
vengeful replied to ticker's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
All very sound advice so far. The only other thing I can think of is run the VIN through your local Nissan Service Dep't to see if there are any outstanding recalls or TSBs due, and have the seller (judging by the price of the truck, I'd guess dealer?) take care of them first. If in doubt, bring it to a trusted mechanic. -
Suspension Lift, And Locking Hubs
vengeful replied to 01silvapathy's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Yes, the manual hubs will work on your 2001. If your Pathfinder is equipped with the All-Mode system, heed the following warning. Just be sure that with the hubs in 4x2 (unlocked), you DO NOT engage the Automatic mode or 4WD on your All-Mode 4WD, otherwise it will trigger a Malfunction warning lamp. -
Oh, as far as your truck not starting...how old is your battery?

Holy cow man! What a day! Glad nobody was seriously injured. You guys should definitely have her checked out by a doctor tomorrow to make sure that nothing is seriously wrong, cuz that would be very bad. Good luck with her and the job tomorrow!

We have a written rule. There is to be NO consumption of alcohol while on the trails, or with any potential of driving. Alcohol may only be consumed after the day is finished at camp.

Holy crap! Is it really....dowser??? *Rubs eyes* Welcome back to civilization man! Good luck with the hunt.

Nah, I got from Phoenix to NY for under $1000 including hotels....but then again, gas was only $2.50. LOL. You could probably have it shipped for about $900, but then there would be customs and duty fees and import charges. Probably better for a US buyer, eh?

Soooo, any one else ever tear off a Black Pather skid?
