  1. I have to agree with kingman on rebuilds Napa seems to be the store to pick.
  2. CYRIL got my vote, unccpathfinder has a great pic I just see sandstone as rock not sand so I left him out. cyril's pic is just in such nice setting and good pic had to give him my vote.
  3. Try reading the stickys in how 2 read all them not just this 1 from sticky in garadge section I have seen this problem when I split the air tube between the throttle and MAF sensor. Look for cracks, they happen allot on bottom side of TB end where it is hard 2 see it.
  4. You have a 31 spline, H233B axle in your pathfinder inless it has been swapped or it Is one of the super rare 2wd 4 cylinder pathfinders. Hope this helps. This configuration of axle was used in the pathfinder from start tell 2000, then it went to a 33 spline version.
  5. I have to say I agree with nunya that dose not look like much to fix to me. Looks like 10 dollars at the scrap steel yard and 15 min with a welder and good to go. If that is the only real problem and they are asking for that much money find a local that has a welder and bring him it prepped and a case of beer and ask nicely and you are probably good.
  6. I want to note that the master cylinder In pathys with disk front and rear hold more volume. A guy i knows wife had a pathy with disk breaks and when the MC went out we had a heck of a time finding one that worked right for him as all of the local nissan places said they were the same but when compared they were not. We ended up finding them one out of a used rig, They will bolt in each others places but the one for drums made for the squishy pedal syndrome.
  7. Yes tires do about 300 percent better on sand if aired down.
  8. I Do not recomend linked welder for any true metal fab but have found it to be a cheep great machine for doing sheet metal jobs and can be bought new for under 100 allot of the time. cheep welder In the link posted it is a little over 100 but I have seen them go on sale as low as 80 dollars. But you need to take the flux core wire that comes with it and throw it in the trash and go buy some lincon or miller flux core wire to put in it. The cheep wire that comes with it dose not penetrate well and splatters everywhere.
  9. If I went back and did it again it would be straight to SAS so I wouldn't have wasted all the money putting the front end back together every time I went wheeling. I think 87pathy is like me though and wheels hard. If you are careful you can keep the IFS together.
  10. Will try to make it short -finish making links -finish 3 more mounts 4 links -finish coil bucket mounts -Get last IFS bracket off frame -figure out how im going to mount shocks -make winch bumper -make front drive line -remove leaf spring hangers -reassemble as 3 link That is leaving off a ton of stuff but enough for now.
  11. Here is my opinion only a opinion though to each there own. WD21-best offroad pathfinder, Moderate road manner R50-Moderate offroad performance, good road manner R51-how the hell did they turn the pathfinder line into a minivan. On the rust issue My pathfinder is from 91 still stock paint no rust on it at all, well a little on my offroad rims
  12. I have the same problem with my pathfinder, I did not remove the assembly though. I have found if i push down on the hood really hard by the latch then go pull the release it works. I still have not figured out what is causing the problem although I have not looked into it to hard as I have been thinking about dove nosing the pathfinder witch would lead to hood pins anyways. Don't use nunya's chain idea please.
  13. I have to agree with nunya, My pathfinder was in the condition the previous owner thought It was to the point of parting out, I bought it for under a grand spent a few days working on it and about 50 dollars worth of parts and it became a great rig. I think the biggest part of making a pathfinder work is working on it yourself and show it you care then it will love you and work for you.
  14. Try reading this thread click instead of startHope this helps.
  15. Here are some videos that may give you a hand
  16. I used coil linkand love the ride they provide.
  17. Seems like there has not been many put up the last few months So I will throw 1 in BoneZ
  18. Looked at it in the driveway this morning aggrievedly as I realized it was the first weekend it was nice enough to work on the SAS in a while but I spent the hole weekend being sick and stuck inside.
  19. I have to agree with you koveman has my vote 2.
  20. That is so strange, We have to track each engine and have full data sheets that can be pulled on every single engine we sale, How is it a car company can be given a VIN # and say they cant find it, That is a JOKE.
  21. I would not pick up a junk yard one, If trying to get a used one out of something that just stopped running, I have pulled 6 of these from junk yards all make a noise, all slightly different but all make noise, My original one started making noises after my pathfinder sat for a few months without being started. (i know bad on me) but it seems like the bearing dose not like not being ran. Just thought I would throw that out. I no longer run the AC belt so problem solved:)
  22. Try the hose that runs between the fuel rais on the front of engine as well the clamps on eather side back off over time so they start to leak fuel when under pressure from the fuel pump. It is easy to fix. there are a few threads on it if you use the function. Off a quick inside forum search http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/just_cuz_37.gif
  23. Today all the IFS and front diff fell out and the dana 44 went in. Still need break lines hooked up, to make a drive line and change the pitman arm but im done for the day arms feel like i lifted weights for 7 hours straight.
  24. If you are looking for something cheep but with a good ability on, mud, street, trail look at the maxxis bighorns. They are not a bad tire at all and around here are allot cheaper then similar tires. They say they are 60k tires but the ones on my heavy dodge have 72k on them and still have over half tread.
  25. The 2.5 rockwells will give you more power with the same engine because of the gearing, I hope you are thinking of making just a mud rig as the rockwells are really heavy for such a small rig. It can be done and work as 1 person on these boards has done it but It will not be the best trail rig if you do that it will be limited to full size trails.
