Not off to the best start...Oil Pressure Light
BoneZ replied to andrewcconti's topic in 86.5-89 WD21 Pathfinders
I have to agree with nunya, My pathfinder was in the condition the previous owner thought It was to the point of parting out, I bought it for under a grand spent a few days working on it and about 50 dollars worth of parts and it became a great rig. I think the biggest part of making a pathfinder work is working on it yourself and show it you care then it will love you and work for you. -

Here are some videos that may give you a hand

I used coil linkand love the ride they provide.

Looked at it in the driveway this morning aggrievedly as I realized it was the first weekend it was nice enough to work on the SAS in a while but I spent the hole weekend being sick and stuck inside.

That is so strange, We have to track each engine and have full data sheets that can be pulled on every single engine we sale, How is it a car company can be given a VIN # and say they cant find it, That is a JOKE.

I would not pick up a junk yard one, If trying to get a used one out of something that just stopped running, I have pulled 6 of these from junk yards all make a noise, all slightly different but all make noise, My original one started making noises after my pathfinder sat for a few months without being started. (i know bad on me) but it seems like the bearing dose not like not being ran. Just thought I would throw that out. I no longer run the AC belt so problem solved:)

Try the hose that runs between the fuel rais on the front of engine as well the clamps on eather side back off over time so they start to leak fuel when under pressure from the fuel pump. It is easy to fix. there are a few threads on it if you use the function. Off a quick inside forum search http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/just_cuz_37.gif

Today all the IFS and front diff fell out and the dana 44 went in. Still need break lines hooked up, to make a drive line and change the pitman arm but im done for the day arms feel like i lifted weights for 7 hours straight.

If you are looking for something cheep but with a good ability on, mud, street, trail look at the maxxis bighorns. They are not a bad tire at all and around here are allot cheaper then similar tires. They say they are 60k tires but the ones on my heavy dodge have 72k on them and still have over half tread.

The 2.5 rockwells will give you more power with the same engine because of the gearing, I hope you are thinking of making just a mud rig as the rockwells are really heavy for such a small rig. It can be done and work as 1 person on these boards has done it but It will not be the best trail rig if you do that it will be limited to full size trails.

Yeah so my front diff took a dump today....
BoneZ replied to 01silvapathy's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Glad it wasn't the diff. Still love your pathy think its my favorite r50. On the jack stand thing Guess I am dangerous like you as I only use jack stands when the vehicle is going to be sitting there quite a while. I am like you and jack it up fix it drop it back down done. Although like right now I am using them on my pathfinder but there is nothing under the front like contol arm for it to land on it would drop far and land on the front hanger. -
I have seen dana 30's snap axle shafts on 32" tires. I have seen the housings bend being pushed on a rock trying 2 get up. Everyone I wheel with that had a dana 30 has destroyed it in one way or another. Only exception is a few Cherokees that run with us but they have the 30's built with cromaly shafts, gussets, outer tube sleeves and so forth while running around 33" tires. Comparing a dana 30 to a toyota axle is not a good comparison as the design of the toyota axle makes it about 3 times stronger then the dana 30. I should say though we run our rigs extreme offroad situations and the IFS in the pathfinder had to be rebuilt after each trail run hence the reason the dana 44 is going in.

This is why you learn to fix your own stuff so you know what was done. Although some times that is not possible.

try lift information That will point you in the right direction to find 1. Also you can use a body lift for the same year rig with a manual, Your autos cable is plenty long enough several people have done it. I would upgrade the steering before i did a lift if I was going to do it again.

I know of 3 different versions of the M8000 winch. The old one is the best, The differences I know of is the gears differ not in size or in gear count but in the quality of the material used, and quality of wires and sobered vs crimped wire ends, The early ones have better quality selinoids like you see in there higher end winch's now. The newer ones have the cheep ones that don't seem to last long at all. On average Warn is a great company, but the M5000 and M8000 are now made elsewhere and bagged warn so they can compete with cheaper company's.

Are you thinking about a onboard tank or just a fitting to hook a hose 2? We use heat exchangers allot at my work on marine products. Remember a 3 pass style will warm or cool (depending on application) the water about 6 times as much as a single pass style. Also the more tubes in your exchanger the more efficient it will be. We use brass ones most of the time. We use them for the opposite we use the river water to cool the anti freeze. This is a interesting project you are working on I can't wait to see how it turns out.

This should be pinned.

My pathfinder is 8 x 1.25 like B said except 4, 1 hole but thats because of the previous owner drilling and tapping that 1 hole up to a 3/8" hole. I really dont know why it was done it makes it a pain to work on that side.

I normally don't agree with nismothunder but Iroks are great tires, I want a set for my pathfinder but to get them in 33's you have to go up to 17" rims. Maybe down the road when the pathy ends up high enough to run 36" tires ill go with Iroks.
-
Same method I have been using on it.
-
OK here is the real way to do it with the 2 vehicles listed, You sale one and buy a WD-21 pathy and use the spare money to do a 3+3 lift tires sliders and bumpers and a lockright. OK on a real note out of the 2 you listed I would use the X because of having a frame. There is also allot more aftermarket support for the x.

Not that many R50's win TOTM do they?
BoneZ replied to muddfildvaynes's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
TOTM Is not a easy thing to win, I have been in it several times with my WD-21, I never vote for myself and every vote i get I am happy about even though I dont win, Why you may ask every vote means someone besides me likes my rig. It really is not about winning its about trying. -
It is very common to have a common power for the injectors and have the ECM control the ground to complete the circute. This is done because it causes less strain on the ECM.

The LSA and LS3 are good truck engines, The LQ4 and LY6 would both need cams done to be good truck engines. I have to deal with these things every day here at work is the only reason I know so much about them. Although we do have 1 LSA that We destroyed a piston -rod in seeing how much spark we could throw at them before detonation, that looks like with some honing could be rebuild able, so I am skeeming on a way to get them to give it to me supper cheep sense they can no longer sale it sense we sale new products only. If I ever manage to pull it off It will go in the pathfinder LOL.
