Check the fuses, pop the master (drivers) switch out of the door... Just pry it up and it will pop out w/out damage... I had a problem with mine where the passinger front window would go down fine with the master switch, but then it wouldn't go up unless you reached over and did it by the passinger switch... The back windows wouldn't work at all from my switch... So I looked for a junkyard one and had no luck... Then I decided to open the switch up and see if a wire broke loose or something... I found that it was pretty easy to open up with a small flathead screwdriver.... Once opened I scraped the contact points inside the switch till they where nice and shiney... When I put it back together it still didn't work. Took it apart once again and this time I bent the contacts a little so they where closer together w/out actually touching... Put it back together and now it works fine. Hope this helps a little...

That is a very nice lookin set of wheels...

If you want to mod it for offroad I'd vote for the locker, then K/N drop in air filter, then JeepGrandCherokee coil springs for the rear, bigger tires, then it'll be time to start upgrading the frontend with beefy parts... Don't forget to get a CB if you plan on running with a crowd... Just a few $$$ and you'll be set... :cool2:

I was really glad when I saw that jeep, because I knew if that thing could get thru something I could for sure... As for why I'm not in more pics. I didn't show up till about 2:30pm and everyone else was there early, plus I'm the new guy you know how that can be... But everyone was totally cool and it was a learning experiance for me. I'll be more confident in my abilities and the pathy's capablity next time I go. The off camber stuff is hard to get used to. Here's a link to my geocities offroading page. Here's a couple of pics from there. -

I still can't believe some of the stuff I did in the pathy... Like going thru this at night... -
There should be a way to vote 0 if you've never had it come on...

Thanks for the compliment... I'm a little to far away for the skids deal tho... Xara 3D5 is the name of the software I made it on. It's free from download.com I think... If not hit google up for a copy. There's a bunch of different stuff you can do with it.

I agree, that is some nice scenery... I miss going up there. Hell I miss seeing the whole west side of the US... Being from flat, no snow Texas makes me really appreciate the mountians and valleys with rapids in the rivers and streams... I ran the first trail saterday with street pressure... Then I aired those tires down at the first chance... It was the first time I've ever aired down, and I was really impressed with the smoother/softer ride while crawling over the rocks and the traction increase was definatly noticable. I only aired down to about 25psi, but next time I go I think I'll air down to 20psi... That park has a big air tank on the way out so you can air up 2 4x4s at the same time in about 15-30seconds per tire... -

That white Fronty is the Pres. of the clubs... It's a d@mn nice rig. He's got skids covering everything under it, it's locked front and rear with air lockers, lights all over the bottom that you can't see to good in the pics for rock crawling at night, oh and did I mention it's supercharged... The 05 is a real nice rig too. He has a locker in the rear and it was originally a 2wd fronty. A friend of his did a SAS on an X and sent him the complete frontend/tranny/t-case in a crate. He installed it on the fronty and now he's got a 4wd... I'm pretty sure he's got skids covering the bottom... I know that Poorboys X has skids, but I think he's either lsd or open diff... -

I paid $40 for an annual membership to that park so I'll definatly be going back pretty soon... We didn't have to break out the straps till the night run, and it was a sheep that needed the help. :cool2: Precise1: That dent still kinda bugs me. It was real bad after the wife wrecked it. I took a big piece of wood and a bigger hammer to it and beat it into the condition it's in now... I got most of it strait, but that dent wasn't gonna budge without making things worse because of the bracket that holds it on the truck. DJ Dank: That X is real nice. He's got it set-up pretty good. He never had to use the winch either. It's the photographers rig. Airrun: My wife actually told me that was the best trip she's ever been on, and she was cool with me trying whatever I thought I could make it thru... That made my day, and maybe I'll get a little more $$$ for upgrades w/out all the sh!t... We don't have anything like that around where I live either (Houston is FLAT). That's about a 5hr drive North if you count stopping for food, gas, stretching, kids peeing, and washing the truck after leaving... But it was without a dought worth the drive. We had to go there anyway to drop off my step-son for a kid swap with his bio-dad. That park was only about 45 miles up the road from Marshall, TX where we meet. Duffman: I've looked thru those 22 pages of pics with my wife about 5 times so far... Good memories. -

It was a blast... Lots of good trails and lots of good people... The pathy hardly ever broke a tire loose. Well, maybe like this. -
Where are you located?

I just got back from the best weekend I've had in a long time... I went to Barnwell Mountian ORV park here in Texas with TNT (Texas Nissan Trucks), and it was unbelievable... We crawled up some trails that had insane angles... Then there was the axle twisters. "the locker came in real handy there." I love having one front wheel off the ground and one back wheel off the ground just tipping back and forth till you gas on it. We also did some 40+ deg off camber rides (Clyde's Ravine) It's the one in the pics that everyone is about an inch from the wall with the drivers side... I didn't have the balls to run it the first time I saw it... Then later on we did a night run (tons of funs) and kinda ended up back at the ravine... I was feeling a lot better about my pathys abilities by this time so I tried it, and it was wild... I thought at one point we were gonna tip over and hit the side/wall. It probly wouldn't have been too bad if I did tip over. I would've only tipped about 2 inches and been against the soft dirt... We made it thru alright and w/out hitting anything... Come to think about it it didn't get any damage this weekend, not even new pinstripping. Here's a link to the pics... The guy who took the pics (PoorBoy) did an excellent job of getting tons of great shots... He got a few good ones of the ol TrailChaser....

Did anyone see the guy who's making diesel outa turkey by-products like guts and feathers and anything else... He already has over 200 complaints to local authorities and a few more at the state level about the stinch... He boils it all down somehow... They say it's a truely horrible smell, but hey if it's "free/cheap" fuel made from stuff that normally gets thrown away I say go for it... Give the oil industry a run for their money...

Sooo, did you ever get that fixed?

Sounds kinda like something I saw a couple of years ago in New Jersey I think it was... Difference was the problem was deer... The city/county hired some sharp shooters to sit around town in deerstands and shoot to kill all the deer they could... I wish I knew for sure where this happened... I wonder how many deer they ended up "sniping"??? I say good luck on the cat hunting deal... The ones that are wild that is. I'd be quite p!ssed if somebody shot my cat... Too many wild cats can be a problem just like anything else..

I've always heard that "floating the gears" would be hard on the fork, but I read in a 4x4 mag not too long ago that is better because there's less wear and tear on the clutch and other tranny stuff... If you can do it right...

Thanks for the reply Precise1. First off I live in the traffic light jungle aka SW Houston and the 15 miles is ALL serious stop and go traffic. I didn't know the brakes could get the rim and lugs hot... -thnkboutit- That does make since tho... I had it in my head that it was the bearings because I showed my dad the water crossing video a while back and the first thing outa his mouth was. "I hope you plan on replacing your bearing pretty soon, cause you probly washed all the grease out of'em..." When I had the tire off replacing the brake line I could spin the hub/rotor easy by hand, but not so easy I could let go and it keep spinning. It didn't feel loose or anything and not noise from trying to shake it. I like the thought that it may just be the brakes heating things up from getting up to 40 mph just in time to hit the brakes again and stop at the next light over and over...

I got some gas for $1.99 9/10 yesterday and Sunday... Went to the beach Sunday so I had to refuel the next day...$$$... What's that 9/10 crap about anyway? Robbin me 1/10 of a penny with every gallon? We built a pyramid and let the kids destroy it, then when we got ready to go I ran it over... I thought it was cool, the wife didn't like it. I think she thought we'd get stuck...
-
I've got the same problem... Where are you located? I'm in the Houston area and ready to go... I even know of a few places to choose from...

I drove my wife to work this morning and then back home to change the brake line on the drivers front side (about 15 miles)... When I jack the truck up and took the lug nuts off I noticed they were HOT... To hot to just stand there holding in my hand. I then went around checking all the hubs and the other side was real hot also. I called O'Reilly and they said it's gonna be about $55 for the "cheap" bearings and seals... Does anyone have any tips about replacing the bearing to make the job a little easier? It'll be my first time messing with the bearing on anything other than bicycles and farm equiptment...

It's probly a heat shield that seems tight but vibrates at that certain rpm range... Mine does the same thing. I've been meaning to get under there and tighten it up with clothes hangers or bailing wire... It's really annoying this time of year trying to ride with the windows down...
