someone in this post just bought a rough country kit from somewhere. No More Rough Country's thread
-
Honestly I would flush the system first just to see if that will improve it temporarily at least. I just did it myself and it is super easy. Just requires one person, a couple of lengths of transmission hose, a deep bucket, and new transmission fluid. Cost me about 60 bucks total. This thread can really help for that: Transmission Flush Thread I just followed 88's instructions. However, you probably want to take the pan out and clean it thoroughly. IF this temporarily fixes your problem, I would still get a transmission cooler AT LEAST. A new/rebuilt transmission is probably in your future though. The one you listed looks like a good option, especially with the 3 year warranty.

i want one now. could help in figuring out if front suspension height is even too

This post is great, my transmission is original, and I have no idea of the maintenance before I got the truck. Until I started to learn more about mechanical stuff even my maintenance records were sketchy at best. However the transmission has been flushed several times during my ownership with no ill effect. I just did my first transmission flush per 88's instructions on Sunday. It was by far the easiest thing I have done to my truck since I started doing my own oil changes. Also very satisfying to know you are saving 60 bucks. No clunk now when I go from Park to Drive.

do you still have a part number for that rack? Garvin only sells thier "sport rack" for the pathfinder now, not the "wilderness rack"

Hey! That names already taken!!

I did three splines and that was a little too much, probably adjust it down to two when i get the chance. just spray the heck out of it with pb blaster if its really rusty then leave it to sink in, spray again an hour later, then leave it again for a while. PB blaster is great for that.

no, i completely agree. I love the look of the spare tire carrier and will continue to use it for my full size spare. But I do want a place for my second full size spare.

Had a little time to kill before I went to work today so drove off on a dirt rode behind my hotel and went to see if there was anything interesting. Ended up finding a couple of huge mud puddles which were kinda fun to mess around with, but thats about it. The drive on the dirt road was horrendous though. I know my suspension is only 75% done(need new front shocks and lower ball joints installed, and an alignment), and granted the dirt roads in AZ are hard and rocky, but even so I was shocked at the amount of shaking going on in my truck!! Was going about 30. Is there any way to tighten down everything? for example maybe put some sort of insulation/padding in the doors so the arm-rest/cover doesnt rattle so much? Or is this just a 1st/2nd gen pathfinder trait with the only solution being to go slower?

for anyone with the surco rack and a tire mounted up there: how did the roof and factory mounts hold up to all the weight? Have you had a full load and the tire up there? Is the surco weight limited for a specific amount? I couldnt find info online. I'm debating between the very expensive Garvin and the relatively inexpensive Surco.

to turn the spindle, should i have it in neutral?
-
ha, i already broke one of the boxes. im seriously considering putting them in my rear pillars as shouldnt have to extend the speaker wires that much. however, if i did this i think i would put some mids in the rear doors too in order to avoid lack of sound when gear is back there. still considering the headliner tho.

i just dont want my roof to cave in when i put my second spare tire up there.
-
sweet, I was going to ask, but thought your parts truck had been taken away
-
ah..thanks greg

you must have cut into the material to do this correct? cant remember, is it plastic? cos most of the plastic in mine is pretty brittle.
-
wow, that is such a good and obvious idea! i feel a little ashamed that i didnt think of it. thanks! hopefully someone who is tearing apart thier rig is selling one. lol
-
has anyone relocated thier rear box speakers to the ceiling or rear doors? been thinking about it for a while, maybe get a little extra space out of the back when the seats are up if the speakers are somewhere else.
-
if your torsion bars have sagged you may also have to reindex them before you can get the full height from the front. there is great how to on that by 88. it is what I will be doing friday.

Anyone have a garvin wilderness safari rack on their rig like the one found at rocky-road? Wilderness roof rack If so does it mount to the existing factory luggage rack? I've read that the existing rack can only handle up to 80lbs. is this true?
-
thats awesome. i wish everything would work if i just hit it.
-
ebay! always have them on there. Bout $25 for a single one.
-
is there a post about how you modded that for your truck red?

i have a 91 auto with thorleys on. didnt weld anything, although it might be advisable to put a clamp over the crossover. did have to bend the egr pipe slightly to make it fit.
