  1. I ended up getting raybestos, not cheap ones but somewhere in the middle. Only problem is the pads are so thick after I clip them into the caliper, the swinging section wont close over them!?! What am I doing wrong?
  2. urgh that was what I was afraid of.
  3. was putting my AC UCA on the passenger side of my truck today. started bolting them in, and the right hand side bolt got really hard to wrench down. backed it off a bit and noticed it was at a slight angle. Took it completely out and the first few threads have been stripped, and some of the threads in the bolt hole on the frame are damaged. suggestions please
  4. no the spindle bolt ok, so guesstimate, lol
  5. got it off with a wrench. thanks everyone. creekkid, how did you get the right torque spec when you put it back on?
  6. sigh. i really didnt want to have to remove the cv. but oh well. yeah, the nut is in standard too rather than metric.
  7. yeah, that didnt work. only have about an inch between the cv boot and the ball joint knuckle bolt
  8. Ok, I am replacing my UCA's, and upper and lower ball joints today. UCAs went fine, but when I looked at unbolting the upper ball joint from the Knuckle found out there isnt enough room to get a socket in there. How do I unscrew this nut? Thx
  9. ah ha, neat. Ok, guess Ill have to fab something up
  10. Just bought a 72 inch Hi Lift Jack. Where has everyone mounted thiers? Id like to mount it on swing out tire arm if thats possible.
  11. yeah the guy at AC seemed confused too, asked if I had a moog arm(which i dont). They said they will take it back and mail me one that fits though to make sure I'm completely satisfied etc etc. Regarding the Calmini brace; which one is the correct part #? NP12490 or NP12490RHD. Or does RHD just stand for Right Hand Drive?
  12. IIRC Rockauto has the pin and the monroe OE shock
  13. oh sweet. ill look into that one then. it does look sturdier and more unique for sure. should add it to the aftermarket parts list
  14. ill just send it back then and either get a refund, or the correct model.
  15. grrr! and after all that work getting those bloody bolts out. Should I send back for a new one? or can I just enlarge the hole myself?
  16. hole is too small, sorry, shoulda said that i suppose lol
  17. Its an AC brace, anyone have this problem before? Frame bolts fit just fine but It wont fit on the actual idler arm bolt.
  18. How the heck do I get these out??!! Putting in my Idler arm brace and steering suspension today. when i use my breaker bar on them it just turns the whole nut-bolt assembly, not just the nut
  19. Never mind, I found my chiltons which details it.
  20. Ok, so I'm gonna change out my ball joints tommorow, and need to know the specs for torquing the new ones to the UCA and LCA. The FSM tells me the specs for the bit that connects to the knuckle/hub.....are they the same for the bolts connecting to the UCA/LCA?
  21. Heres just a reminder to everyone that they should use the correct safety equipment working on stuff. In particular use eye protection because you dont want to be an idiot like me. Went outside this morning and decided it would be a good idea to quickly spray all my electrical leads, starter, and alt with electrical degreaser. Only take about 10 mins right...ill just be careful and spray away from my face. No need to grab my safety glasses(which were only about 5 feet away) Easy right?! Sprayed everything and all was well until I stopped spraying the starter connections and leaned my head in (I was under the truck) to get a better look. This placed my head directly under the nozzle of the spray tube and what do you think happens next? A drip goes into my eye. Man does that stuff burn! Rushed back into the house and flushed my eye for 15-20 mins as it says in the instructions and I was fine. Served as a good reminder of why there are such things as safety glasses, and why we should always use them no matter how small a job.
  22. think ill do a combination of all of these, wire wheel sounds like the best finishing option.
  23. I just finished burning out my UCA bushings so I can replace them with new ones. http://i446.photobucket.com/albums/qq188/b...os/DSC00939.jpg However, there is still a bit of melted rubber inside the bushing holes. Any tips on getting this out?
