So the studs are the long bolts that fit thru that mess into the engine block?
-
Eagle... bit off topic WHAT THE HELL IS WITH YOUR AVATAR? Is... that a truck.... backed UP a tree?
-
What are the chances my 1990's have at least one broken stud? *grins slightly* Still not 100% sure what I'm looking at in that picture, but when it comes time to do my headers I guess I'll learn The fun thing for me is going to be this summers transmission rebuild... in my garage. One week, me and the Tranny, 4 hours a day. I want to do this since the stock tranny coolers all it's had for the last 18 years

*tilts* Why do I have the feeling da jokes on me?
-
I'm confused... just what studs are you talking about guys?

Slick is selling king...? *tilts*

*grins* She's totally addicted... doesn't know much about vehicles yet, but she knows she loves my truck. I figure, hey, what the hell, few years down the road (once we're out of college and can afford it) I'll get her one. Any advice on what style pathy to get her? Gotta be an old one (the new ones... most of em are just butt ugly... plus they aren't the good old construction they used to use are they) but I'm figuring anything that's earlier than a 1995 model? If I'm going to have a second pathy, should they both be the same model to simplify working on them, or would it be worth while to get a slightly beefier one with the XE engine? Or should I go to an R51 or whatever the tag is (sorry, 8:45 am... just brought my lil bro to school and can't fall asleep again... rambling... I know) What say yee o h masters of all things mechanical?

Buh? Sorry mate, it's 1 am here (well, 2:42 am now) and it's been a looooong day. Did I just make a really stupid comment / question? Oh... duh... *shakes head* I'm going to bed before I hurt myself XD I'll have to add that to my list of things to replace or fix
-
Well, that's certainly strange... yes, check the shift linkage first... uhm... make sure your 4WD shifter isn't in neutral by accident (hey, worth a check) also try going down to 1 instead of drive and see if it makes her work... may also be worth trying the 4WD and 4WDL sets to see if you can get anything out of her. Damn... i can't think of anything that'd make it just cuputz like that 0o' Then again, I'm a bit newish still Best of luck mate! Check that 4wd stick - scared the pants off myself by bumping it into neutral once!

Hm... could be the same problem I'm facing with my truck, just nowhere near as extreme... how much does a cylinder head temp sensor cost to replace for a 1990 VG30E auto? While I'm at it, I'll prolly do MAF and O2 sensor as well

... I... own a WD21... It has a little body rot... but the frame is solid still... damn my search function not working... I need to find a good way to fix this

VG30E SeV6 1990 Pathy - Stock Springs and Suspension
Kittamaru replied to Kittamaru's topic in The Garage
Alright, I wasn't 100% sure... and I've said it before - I can't search... it never brings anything up, even if I have the title of the topic I'm searching for *shrugs* I get this on ALL Invision Power Board forums -
My 1990 Pathy will get about 24-27 mpg highway at a constant 65 mph once I lock in everything and activate cruise... I have slightly oversize tires though (diameter is a little bigger than stock) and according to the laws of physics... yeah, you guys know that already... Uhm... i also have a brand new air/fuel/oil filter, pcv valve, and other stuff... Though, lately... I've dropped to about 16 mpg no matter what it makes me VERY sad... but I think my tranny is a little mucked up (plan to attempt a rebuild come summer and am looking at a new cooler ASAP) plus wintermix gas, plus my spark plugs are WAY old...

Alright, as I'm getting heavily conflicting data on the internet... What is the STOCK parameters for the suspension and springs of the 1990 SE V6 pathfinder? Eg... I need all the info I'd need to know about if I was looking to replace them with a slightly beefier set... like from stock to starter-level off-roading. I'm already thinking of the Rancho 9000's with the central control system for ride height... but what springs do I want? It's coil springs all around on the pathy, right? What thickness would I want? Height? Coils? Compression? Ect... things like that that I dont' know and I've seen too much variation to make my own judgement.

burning... as in... like... burning away the item itself?
-
Given that pathy's are prone to rust in a couple of spots, perhaps a write up containing basic rust fixing methods would be helpful? I'm talking from varying stages... I have a few spots that just need cleaned and painted... but I have two (one under the truck and one on the left side rear tire well) that need sheet metal patching... which I have no clue how to do So what does the community think? Is a write up like this something worth doing?
-
I just joined *shrugged* stepped on a landmine though XD

I have the exact OPPOSITE problem on an automatic... my idle drops to below 500... it'll dip as low as 250 some times, rumble real gutteral like, and kick back up to around 500 where, I presume, it should be.
-
I have finished both torsion bars... my truck is now sitting high and mighty once more! I need to actually lower it a bit (I overdid it on the adjuster bolts) but that's far far better than what I was sitting at! Now, I only need to figure out how to raise the back end a bit... anyone know the standard ride height for a 1990 Nissan SEV6 with default size tires? *grins* 88path, you are a &^%*ing god... you really are! I had an odd quirk though... the drivers side torsion bar... the c-clip was attached INSIDE the frame mounting. Like... it wasn't doing anything at all.. that was a Pain in the ASS to get off. Now that I fixed it though, and two splines on each side, she sits MUCH better.

*chuckles* ah, so then yes they would Is this an "upgrade" worth doing for mainly road-use?
-
How about the grease gun?
-
Will these work on a '90 pathy?
-
HooHaa, would I have ANY benefit from using your product if I don't run trails? I don't really push my pathy all that hard (yet) and I'm also flat broke... but if your product is worth the upgrade then I might save up for it. Basicly, what I'm asking is, in everyday driving, would this give me any benefit? It looks sweet, though I'm no mechanic Also, how difficult is installation? PS - I drive a stock '90 pathy.

That is def. a good find! The vacuum line and the system attached to it can cause some... interesting... results when it starts reading incorrectly. I got to watch my mechanic work on a 2001 pathfinder that was running very weak... guy couldn't even put it in reverse or it would stall, same when stopping completely at red lights and stop signs. My mech took something in a spray can (not sure what it was) and sprayed it around the top of the engine (at the time I had no idea what he was doing). As the engine idled, it suddenly perked up. Apparently that was what he was spraying (some form of evaporiate compound) being pulled INTO the bad seal and temporarily forming a secure bond. A few seconds after he stopped spraying it, the engine started to choke again... he repeated this till he located the problem area. Was, of all things, a leak around the vacuum sensor that was giving a bad reading on the sensor itself. At this point I had to leave as my truck was finished by his younger brother (was just getting an oil change) so I'm not sure how he fixed it... I assume he'd replace the tubing and/or the gaskets?
