  1. Wait... so don't use the overdrive unless you're on the highway... or don't use the overdrive on the highway? I'm confused... I thought O/D helped decrease strain on the tranny and improved fuel economy...
  2. Gah... so the in cab controller is pointless? I haven't been able to find shocks that'll work from it... even the Nissan dealer near me said they don't carry any that'd work!
  3. Ah, alrighty then... so do those shocks come with their own switch that I have to run in?
  4. http://www.4wheelparts.com/PPT2196T3660.aspx Also, is that any good for a new transmission cooler?
  5. There is a button on the middle console of my '90 pathy that adjusts the shocks... what shocks make use of this? I'm looking at the Pro Comp ES3000 shocks... would they be a worthwhile upgrade to the standard OEM shocks currently installed? What would the advantages be? Keep in mind this truck rarely goes off road... though it does see decent amounts of snow an bad roads.
  6. eh... I'd rather be able to lift it up in any event
  7. Yeah, I was reading thru it, but it doesn't give many links that are helpful for me I'm not really sure what i"m looking at with em. Quick quesiton - what is the difference (and pro/con) of a body lift kit compared to a suspension lift kit?
  8. Whats the overall price on this do you figure?
  9. Mine only happens when making a sharp (read, 90* or more) RIGHT TURN that has a dip of more than two inches while making the turn. Any other time, no noise *shrug*
  10. Alright, so disregard the online "manual" I found, got it Can you point me towards some good coolers? I'm looking at some... I don't even know where they'd GO much less how to install them. I'm trying to find something that's somewhat noobie friendly... seems a loosing battle
  11. Ah, okay. Yeah, just thinking with the heavy winter PA is supposed to get, I may need em... my transfer case is OLD and I don't want tos tress it too much... I also need a AT Oil cooler...
  12. Well, thing is, I live in an appartment complex and people let their dogs @!*% just about anywhere Naw, real reason is simple - if I'm going to have to get under the truck, i'd rather simply lift it up so i can do the undercoat replacement while I'm there. That and I can get a better look at what's going on.
  13. aighty, will do Getting under is the hard part (no garage to speak of, and best I can do is a 1.5 foot drive-on ramp) but I should be able to manage
  14. Aight, so shift into 4WD, then shift out again but don't backup. Then I can shift on the fly into 4WD if I should need it... and ONLY do this on poor traction surfaces. Go it
  15. any suggestions for a kit that's good n "easy" for a newbie to install? That 2 MPG increase is looking mighty nice...
  16. My tranny fluid hasn't been replaced in over 50k miles (my bad, I know) but it's still the same pinkish red that went in and has a sweet smell to it... it's a LITTLE thin by my understanding... but yeah... should I do a drain and refill? Also, what's a good tranny cooler to look at? I'm absolutely LOST looking at them... I was just reading thru the auto tranny fluid change topic in the 1990 pathy area... yeah... now I'm scared. 50k is a might bit over 15k
  17. @!*%... could this be what's up with my '90 SE pathy? She's well over that milestone (at 140k miles and climbing) but she has some odd stutter in low RPM ranges
  18. I get something similar... when I take a tight turn and there's a bump or a dip in the road, there's this sickening CLUNK in the back... my mechanic says it's because the torsion bar mount is loose (or something like that) but it's nothing to really worry about as long as I don't go taking it off of any jumps?
  19. uhm, I have the little box air filter on the drivers side front I have 6 wires... but supposedly 12 plugs? 12 spark plugs for six cylinders for 2 injectors... that's what I was able to look up about my vehicle, but it confuses the @!*% out of me... how does that WORK? Or is the information WAY bad?
  20. Yeah, 1990 so vg30e 3.0L SEV6 Cool what's sohc and mpfi?
  21. Alrighty, getting my head out of me arse and noticing I have a LOT more to learn than I thought How do I go about determining the engine on my pathy? It's a 3.0L SE V6... but what's all the numbers I see being thrown about? VG30 or something like that? How do I know what mine is? how do I go about determining what kind of injectors I have/need? TBI or EFI? What're those? *chuckles* damn... so much to learn, so few accurate resources for this old truck on the web! Help me obi wan kenobies... I know you guys know the truth of the pathy force! Yeah... I got a long ways to go. But I'll get there
  22. 50 dollars is expensive when you're paying college tuition I really want something AWD or 4WD... PA (and if we transfer to RIT up in New York) snow is a bear... New York would be even worse. I unno... I'll keep looking at the WRX... most of them seem to be manual though (she doesn't know how to drive stick... I'll teach her some day! )
  23. I was under the impression you can throttle back the turbo or even go so far as to simply cut it off unless the gas is depressed x amount? Or is it always engaged? Thought turbo's could be tuned a little finer than that. I'm not sure... I'm looking at Subaru's as well... Nissan and Subaru are the only cars I really trust What are some other good sporty nissan cars that won't break the bank and use REGULAR (that is important with gas prices what they are... ugh)
  24. I'm not looking at it for power My fiance's car recently died, and I know how good Nissan's are... but I don't want us to have ANOTHER SUV... at 50 bucks a tank my pathy is a TAD expensive every other week (I manage to squeeze 23ish MPG out of her) I'm assuming a skyline with an engine of similar spec to my pathy's, but of MUCH lighter weight, would have a better fuel economy... plus it's sporty and looks damned cool!
  25. Well, I'm looking at getting one that either needs some light work, or a new engine. Either thing I can manage (with the help of my mechanic, who's a family friend) but I need to get the car and the parts first I'm looking at one now... R32 GTS-t Sedan that's been refit and kit out with a RB25DET engine for some extra punch... only 14,600. Gah... duh... just realized something. It's a right hand drive... heh. Never bothered to check that. The skyline I drove was a left hand drive... is that a conversion or are there left hand drive designs?
