  1. Camping trip with @micahfelker and a really nice taco (tube bumpers f/r, sliders, 33 M/T’s & factory rear locker)
  2. Thank you so much! I have been putting more effort into production lately! It has been growing, it’s been a lot of fun! you the man! Thanks
  3. For those of you who want to see the lockers in action:
  4. Likewise! ya, after driving a double locked pathy, it definitely had me jealous of the extra height and the rear locker... that would be super nice!
  5. I’m gonna say no, unless the lighting is somehow massively changing how your blue shows up in photo. This blue was pretty flat toned unlike a lot of the “sparkly” colors offered on R50’s.
  6. I know he has pics on here somewhere. he has the part time manual shift t case, so he rigged an all mode switch on his center column (near / exactly where it would go on yours). When turned to “AWD” it initiates the compressor so that the lockers are ready to go, then 4H turns on the rear locker, and 4L turns on the front locker (while keeping the rear locker on). Forgive me if I’m butchering the description @hawairish
  7. Well, more R50 fun this break! I took a family trip to the phoenix area, and of course had to hit up a few of the locals..... It was great having @hawairish and @R50JR show me some Arizona trails Views from the top Patrick was very kind to let me take his beast up some of the obstacles. His special "All mode" locker switch is awesome, and this thing absolutely walks anything you point it at. R50JR had no trouble keeping up (minus a few high clearance obstacles ) with his Lokka / super LSD combo either. We got some video as well, so we'll see how that turns out!
  8. That alone would be enough to make me weary of the lokka- trying to explain the combination of manual hubs, lokka function, etc etc to the unacquainted would not be fun. on the topic of uphill climbs- that logic goes both ways if you know what I mean...... if there’s more weight in the rear, the rear is less likely to break traction, and the front is more likely to break traction and need a locker in order to help out the rear end. I like lokka’s FAQ, even though it’s pretty clear you should go the other route, it is informative. https://www.lokka.com/faq luckily for the R50 communities, it seems like the only people busting axles are the ones who don’t have front lockers.
  9. I had one person message me and claimed it was a factory color. Either way, a very nice color. Such a pleasant blue.
  10. Yup, or lokka! I noticed when I read through and researched the lokka, 4WD Systems recommends locking the front end of the vehicle first, especially if its IFS (limited articulation). To each their own- I've seen lots, (probably more often than not) of opinions that trend the other way.
  11. So many more fun pictures. The green Xterra comes to mind. Still not sure how dumb you have to be to suspend the rear of a vehicle by the nut on the leaf spring hanger. Here it is after I stacked 20 more tires/wheels under the frame. What a death trap, I loosened almost every nut and bolt at arms length with my head in the wheel well, and then finished it off with a crow bar. The aforementioned OSHA approved weight supporting wheel. And the beautiful blue lifted R50 whose hubs I pulled. Still has Bilsteins, rear lift springs, and what appeared to be poly rear links.
  12. No, this has been pretty thoroughly delved into by @hawairish - no mechanical lockers fit our rear axles. That one is mislabled. Note that we don't have 4 pinion open diff rears, but rather 2 pinion. Read this:
  13. There aren’t any drop in lock rite’s or such for the rear unless you do an axle shaft swap
  14. Hey guys, just thought I'd show you a little of the R50 related stuff that's going on right now. I've received plenty of parts orders over the holiday break, including two Xterra Third Members, a full 4.6 Swap, a transfer case skid plate, and a honeycomb grill. A few other odds and ends to round it out, but those are the goodies. I also had a really great find in a particular blue R50- the was contact info of the last owner was on some service records in the vehicle, and I was able to get in touch with him and ask him about the vehicle. It was in really good shape, and is next in line for any 4.6 Swap parts requests. It had a lift kit, among other upgrades, and that's where the manual hubs in this photo are from! I'm looking to restore those Warns and slap them on my own R50, it makes sense when the upgrade is essentially free. The pathfinder's in decent shape. My subwoofer shelf is in disrepair after some rocky trails, and needs revisiting. An SES light that needs to be diagnosed, and then maybe paying some attention to finishing some lights and wiring organization projects. But first, gotta box up all these sweet parts and get them shipped! It should be really fun to see these parts get second life with some owners.
  15. its good to be back in Idaho for the holidays!
  16. Post history shows you’ve already started a thread on this exact question in April and got great answers......
  17. Many/some VQ’s burn oil...... there’s a good portion of them that do, know that if you buy one, or test drive it for long enough to find out.
  18. Eh, I could do without it. I wasn’t enjoying trying to explain it to my non-gear head passengers. It makes the conditions look worse than they are, and I’ll be sticking to 4WD moving forward.
  19. So, with the first snow today, I got to see the performance of the lokka in snow. So far, in a couple of inches of fresh powder, I was pretty impressed with how the vehicle handles. Turning at low speeds wasn't too difficult, and the lokka would actually unlock and allow differential action at low speeds, maintaining a tight turn radius. I suspect that Ice will not be very fun with the lokka, but this setup is probably as good or better than typical 4WD in general snowy road conditions. The vehicle self centered super easily, was way less squirrely than in 2WD, and had lots of traction. See the video below for more. I wasn't super fond of how the LSD behaved, especially when in RWD only. Pretty squirrely driving, and not that great in the snow. Definitely enough traction to get around, but the rear end swings out pretty easily.
  20. I’ve had good luck with my smittybilt Kenentic strap. I used it last winter to pull a Suburban out of a snowy ditch, and less impressively to flip a RAZR back onto its wheels. Slightly lower weight rating than the ARB, but not too bad Link: https://www.amazon.com/Smittybilt-CC120-Snatch-Strap-Rating/dp/B003EP2XIU/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=smittybilt+kinetic+rope&qid=1603379060&sr=8-5
  21. At that price, a full rear bumper and tire carrier might be more cost effective. A tube bumper with a simple tire carrier could likely be had at that price, or an OEM swingate if you can find one.
  22. https://www.bxbuilt.com/product-page/toyota-h4-diy-kit-4runner-tacoma-tundra-sequoia If you have questions about any of the products, the owners name is Andrew and you should be able to find him on Facebook and Instagram as BX BUILT. might as well drop a link to YouTube video too
  23. save up, and get something that will really boost performance... In my experience, LED bulbs were only a mild boost in lighting, and weren’t great in snow or rain. these are bi - LED projectors. It’s a DIY kit sold by BX built. Obviously gonna cost 2-4 times as much as aftermarket LED bulbs, but you get what you pay for- clean cutoff and intense light throw. Even a cheaper amazon or eBay projector kit is likely a better route.
  24. This. theres very little member overlap from the FB page to the forum. Hosting pics can get pretty quick and easy once you find a service you like. I use Imgur. You upload photos onto an account you creat for their website, and then they have special links for all kinds of image hosting. It works best if posting into NPORA on a laptop, but I do plenty with the Imgur mobile app and NPORA’s website in safari.
