Very interesting and genuinely ingenious! Wonderful prototype, maybe some type of plastic or sheet metal housing to make it easily changeable... Kudos! Keep us posted on how well it works....

I just wanna be Charleton Heston in Omega Man....

I hear ya buddy. When I bought my '91 the PO had no idea when and if the TB was done but all his maintenance was done at the local dealer. I just changed it anyway and when I got in there the belt looked brand new. But since I was there I wanted to start with a fresh slate so I changes it, WP, bypass hose, seals... Oh, your post count doesn't matter. I don't feel I am a post whore but if you want a bigger post # just play the forum game for a while and you can rack them up...

Well guys, it wasn't from a lack of trying. Sometimes it is hard to admit operator error, the most common of all computer issues..... Damn machine!

Still have to copy and paste from a web based photo sharing service

I just rerouted the stock light (obviously AFTER this pic was taken) worked out well..
-
Hides your license plate nicely, lol.... I had to move mine too just cuz the spare was so GD big it hid the stock location. I just happened to do it the same time I installed the tube bumper..

Exterior mount speakers blaring The Carpenters..... EVERYONE will run for cover!

Never has to do it but you might find some info on it in the Body section of the FSM.... I wasn't bragging really, just anyone who has ridden a big cc thumper knows vibration and how useless rear mirrors can be. On them you use bar weights and rubber isolators to control mirror vibrations.

Only on my 688 dual sport thumper....

You basically change your gearing by running different size tires so different front to rear would only make a difference in 4WD except for the fact it will look kinda ridiculous..... What is wrong with those Yoko's? Looks like they got lots of wear left for an all season highway tire.

Will a frame from a different year work?
SkiBumBrian replied to Nename's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Totally agree with Pav. You have some fairly extensive body damage too, it would make more sense to find another truck and make the best out of 2.... -
Very ingenious..... I knew there was another use for 4" ABS than, well, you know what I mean.... I take it you fed that into your airbox/filter?

I think you have basically answered your own question. It seems you do have an affinity for WD21's. I can't blame you. Yours could become a donor for parts (at least the ones that aren't rusted away) for another WD. As you well know, you will probably never find one in your area in much better condition than the one you have now. You could investigate WD's in drier climates, salt free that have held up well over the years (you would be surprised how many of them there are, there are at least a few a month here) and take a bus or plane ride and drive it home. As far as others that compare I cant tell you but your climate does not cater to long lasting vehicles of any vintage so anything you buy in decent shape you should spend some time or coin on undercoating, rust preventative, etc. IMHO

Yep, If I would not have gotten some of their UCA's from another member for next to nothing I would have (and probably still will) go with the Rough Country UCA's. They address the UBJ angle much better...

Just do a lot of surfing around the forums. You will find a plethora of information and ideas......

I live in the redneck part of California, lots of wheeling around here. The biggest obstacle is the gates that Sierra Pacific (big logging/lumber company) puts up on state or federal land to limit access. Its OUR land not theirs and it pisses me off. On my bike I can always find a way around them, on 4 wheels you have to be much more ingenious... Just remember to put masking tape over your license plate, they are now using game cameras to catch the violators like me.....

Been looking for a tube bumper for the Pathy for a while. Found this one on CL for 80 bucks yesterday, just installed it this morning. Perfect opportunity to relocate the license plate too since with the bigger tire on the back and the fact I had to stand it out a bit to clear the rack you couldn't see the plate anyway..... I will head to the auto parts store and pick up a couple of LED lights for it. I am just throwing in the other pic just cuz I love my truck so much....

I hear ya, my thoughts exactly. A good container should be watertight, right? I have never had to run codes on my truck but I GUARANTEE if I glued the top on I would have to run them the next day.... Does anybody use the OBD1 port under the dash? That is what that port is right?
-
Saw that post, good idea. Is it still in the theory stage or do you have a write up on it?

The regulator on the back of the instrument cluster, mine was bad too when I bought the truck. I picked one up at the junk yard for 10 bucks, I think they are 25 bucks or so new.Since you are new to the site I need to tell you about Alkorahil. That is Rob's screen name here and he is the go to guy for Nissan parts. He works at a dealership in the Dallas area and helps us all with information, parts, and keeping our trucks running great. I highly suggest messaging him for any of your parts needs....

Possible bad wheel bearing/Brake line.
SkiBumBrian replied to NIssanBoston's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
PM Alkorahil (Rob). He will make sure you get the right parts and they are all Nissan so you are not buying junk. I cant tell from the audio on your vid what it is or if I even hear what you are hearing. When wheel bearings go bad they tend to generate a lot of heat from friction. When I am questioning the integrity of a bearing I like to feel the hub or wheel in the bearing area for excessive heat. I have a laser thermometer that makes it real accurate but you can usually feel a difference between a good bearing and a bad one. Feel the good side then feel the bad side for a difference in heat build up. A bad wheel bearing can also give the brake symptoms you described. Have you jacked up the truck and felt for any play in the bearing? -
Thanks for finding that. I like the Tupperware idea except for maybe the access issue when running codes. I think I will go that route but not silicone the top on like Greg did. I will take some pics while I do it. Thanks again for the help, you surely helped me make up my mind on what method to use. Thanks to GrimGreg too for an ingenious idea....

I was wondering about a waterproof box but wasn't sure about any heat build up etc. from ECU. I guess if GrimGreg did it with no issues it must be a viable solution! I will search his posts and see if I can find some info from him.
