  1. At least with an open diff you can opt for a locker, not an option with an LSD.
  2. Got headers in the mail. Put them together to help me understand the process and possible difficulty factors. Pulled the heat shields off and squirted Liquid Wrench on all the fasteners on the exhaust system I could find. Found 2 exhaust studs broken, both passenger side rear ones. Still looks like it is going to be a PITA accessing all the manifold nuts....here is a pic of the headers loosely bolted together. Should be a fun project for next weekend. Gonna soak the nuts and bolts a few more times during the week, should be great smelling that Liquid Wrench burning off.....
  3. Caswell works the best for metal tanks, Blue lightning for plastic and HLPE and XLPE tanks. Kinda same procedure for both, put something in the tank like drywall screws, nails, etc. and shake and tumble the tank to loosen any "crap" that is in there, i.e. rust etc. After you feel comfortable you have knocked everything out you can, throw a quart or so of Xylol in there and swoosh it around for a while to etch the inside of the tank so the sealer adheres well. Mix the sealer (Caswell is a 2 part formula, BL is one) and pour it in the tank and roll it around coating the entire tank but concentrating on the damaged area(s). Let it cure for 24 hrs, reinstall and you are good to go. Both of those products are awesome. A 40.00 box of Caswell will do a 20 gallon tank no problem.
  4. Remove tank. Replace or seal with Caswell or Blue Lightning sealer...
  5. Thanks for the links B....... Good info there.
  6. Thanks guys. I am looking forward to tackling this....
  7. Awesome to hear Steeevo! Kenny seems like a great guy and I am STOKED to get these prototype Thorleys. I am sure I will be on here, maybe PMing you or others when I do the swap. I am pretty good with a wrench but it looks like it is going to be a PITA, but worth it I am sure. I have not found a thread on the Thorley install, if there is one someone steer me there please. If not I will try to take lots of pics and a write up on the procedure.. Thanks to everyone on here that helps me!
  8. He is sending some ARB bolts but I also ordered 300ZX studs from Rob months ago. I like studs only 'cuz it aids in placement of the header/manifold during install. I will use the studs I imagine and have the bolts available to someone who needs them.... I thought that strange too about the mock up, that is why I was curious to the age of them. They look fine though, have the stamped label on them for CARB and seem to be the right ones... We will know soon!
  9. Your VIN has all that info. There is a thread here somewhere on how to decipher it.
  10. He said they used his truck for a mock up and I imagine they gave him the headers for his time. He is packing them up and shipping them off to me. I feel a bit of flu coming on the Friday after I get them.... That should give me time to take off the old manifolds, replace studs, put it all back together and have the full flow cat and muffler installed over the weekend. Looking forward to the new sound and hopefully performance and mileage.
  11. Yeah, I have been talking to Kenny, I just want to make sure what he has is CARB and a recent design.
  12. I did a search and found a lot of info on their headers but it was all years ago.... Does anybody have the low down skinny on their newest products? I had read installation issues on non body lifted WD's. I had read some discussion on the "long" or "short" headers and how one was better or auto to manual fitment, etc. Also the ceramic coated to the chrome/nickel question. I am about ready to pop for these but wanna get the right ones. I have a '91 auto, VG30E. Oh, and I live in Commiefornia....... Thanks for the help!
  13. A couple of weeks ago I picked up a Waag push bar/brush guard off an R50 for 25 bucks. Just started modding it to fit the WD today. Cut off the old frame mount flanges and made some templates to tie it to my frame rail. Was kinda worried at first that it might not work but no it looks like it is gonna be easy peasy, just gotta straighten and shorten the guards for the "flat" front of the WD it will be awesome. Pretty beefy for a brush guard and feel pretty confident I can brace/gusset it enough to handle a winch... Pics next week sometime.
  14. Just watched a vid on youtube where a guy used his e brake to help his LSD grab traction..... interesting!
  15. Thanks to all of you for your support, thoughts, and relating your own similar tragedies. Most of them are preventable but makes them no less tragic, maybe more so. Some good will come out of Kawil's death, maybe even save injury or death to a another beloved pet or God forbid, a child. Although it has been constant rain here the neighbor has already been installing hogwire and supporting rails to strengthen the fence. Thanks again everyone
  16. These tragedies always touch my heart. I know dogs will be dogs but as owners we need to be aware of the dangers and the dangers we can cause. I hope you and your grand niece have healed and she has no lasting scars from witnessing the experience. Maya, Tepeu, and Babbas were kinda shook up and looked for him for the first couple of days, thank goodness their memories don't work like ours.....
  17. These dogs have been an issue in the neighborhood for a long time. People are afraid to come get their mail because of the dogs charging the fence. He is in the process of fixing the weak fence issue but does not change the fact he is not a responsible pet owner. Thanks guys for your thoughts, I have had responses from another forum I frequent and some are going to their local shelters to donate on Kawil's behalf. His death will help some other dog find a home......
  18. Thank you for your input and sentiment. I feel something positive will come of this loss so his death was not in vain. I would hope that all dog owners would learn from your wisdom.
  19. I have a painful story I must relate. For the past few days I have been trying to make sense of the tragic death of one of my dogs. I am single and my dogs are my children, not just possessions. Between my neighbor and me is a vertical batt vinyl fence, aesthetically pleasing but less than structurally sound. He has large dogs that constantly taunt passers by and people walking to the mailboxes just a mere few feet from the neglected and aggressive animals. Knowing this I took the obvious precautions, placing bricks along the base of the fence, etc. to keep my Chihuahuas from digging and/or getting under the fence to his property. I felt fairly secure that things were safe although his dogs relentlessly bark and growl at anything that moves. I came home the day before yesterday to a horrific situation. I walked through the door and immediately noticed that one of my kids was not there to greet me. I went into the back yard (they have a doggie door) and called for him to no avail. I of course walk the fence looking for an escape route and noticed that one of the flimsy vertical batts of the fence between my property and his was knocked out from his dogs bouncing against it. I knew this could not be good. I replaced the batt, looked over the fence and called his name but no answer. I was hoping he had escaped not only through the hole but also out of the neighbors yard but that was not the case. I knocked on the neighbors door after he secured his extremely mean animals we found Kawil dead in a corner of his yard. I have been trying to make sense of this senseless tragedy for the past few days. Friends have said anything from kill the dogs, beat the @!*% out of the owner, to suit or other legal action but none of the above will do anything but cause more pain. He was very compassionate about the situation and offered me another puppy but to me that was only a band-aid and would not replace the death of my family member. What good could come of this? I told my neighbor that installing some hog wire around the base of the fence would not only prevent this from happening again but might also prevent this happening along the sidewalk which may involve others, possibly a child. This preventive maintenance seemed sensible but still did not relieve the horrible pain I was still feeling. I was talking with a friend that I typically think of as a very nice fellow but not real bright had a wonderful idea. You may not want a new puppy from him but he could donate to the local shelter to help save other dogs or provide a home for a homeless pet. Brilliant! Although my loss still hurts, we can turn a senseless murder into something positive. Kawil has given his life, we have possibly saved other injuries or death by fixing the fence and he has also given a home or life to another needy pet. Kawil is now a hero. I miss him terribly but now feel his death was not in vain and has actually given hope and life to others. Hooray for the heros in our lives
  20. The study ranked 195 cities in the contiguous 48 states by the amount of rainfall they received annually over a 30-year period, although Olympia actually had the most rainy days on average across the three decades (63) of all the cities in the study. Mobile came in second on the latter scale, with 59 average annual rainy days. (Several cities in Alaska and Hawaii actually receive more than 100 inches of rain a year, but were not included in the study.) Southeastern cities are so prevalent on the list because the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico fuel storms that frequently soak the region, particularly between June and November. [Rainfall Records Fall Across the Northeast] The study also found that in the past 30 years, the East and Southeast seemed to be getting wetter, while the West got drier. Florida, Louisiana and Alabama were the wettest states, while California, Montana, Nevada and Arizona were the driest (Las Vegas took the top spot for driest city). Average rainfall was highest in the United States between July and September and lowest between January and March.
  21. Pretty funny what people think of WA that have not been there. I tell them I am from WA and they immediately talk about the rain. I come back with a " nope, I live in a desert with less than 10 inches of rain a year." They just get a blank look on their faces....
  22. Haven't noticed a difference with the 33x12.50s, still around 17 in town and 20 on the freeway
  23. I use ZEP cleaner/degreaser, seems to work really well.
  24. I think you will find good info in this thread too....http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/9988-shock-absorber-part-numbers-and-sizing/
  25. Keep Manning off the field, Stick to a running game, and keep time of possession in our favor and we could do it. I grew up in CO and WA so I really cant lose, but I would love to see the Hawks win!!
