  1. Next time I go see it at the shop I'll take some video - it can only be reproduced when going over speed bumps at any speed as long as the front end bounces enough..... Its just really frustrating that I had to get the general manager on the phone to light a fire under someone's ass to get some actual customer service. I'm in Los Angeles and my commute is 4 miles of pot holes and pavement that's been patched 30 times..... Anyways the only parts that have not been replaced are the torsion bars but there aren't many moving parts there right? They did crank them up to raise up the front end and it was quieter for about a week and then the sound gradually came back...... very strange. http://autos.dir.groups.yahoo.com/group/Nissan-Pathfinder/message/3703 This is also interesting - what parts would need to be greased? ahardb0dy yes I have 2 cars that are the same age and can put up with simple rattles etc but this is embarrassingly loud and inexcusable for it not to get fixed....
  2. All the bushings that I replaced are moog which I think are rubber? I have no idea...... I got them from rock auto which has very little description on them.
  3. Compression rod = strut rod - all those bushings have been changed out.
  4. are you talking about torsion rods? I have not replaced my torsion bars......... what are compression rods?
  5. Is it possible they forgot to lube these parts? And if so is it hard to do? ie: similar to zerk fittings? Front Lower; Incl. powdered-metal gusher bearing to allow grease to penetrate bearing surfaces Moog ball joint part #'s: K9347 K9022
  6. No - if the speed bump is one of those small sharp speed bumps i can make the noise at 5mph..... i just wish i could replicate it w/ it on the ground and not moving...... Yes shocks are new.. Rancho RS5K. They sure didn't mind taking my $4500......... Is it possible the front drive shaft is squeaking?
  7. I'm pulling what little hair I have left in my head out over this..... I've replaced every rubber part in the front end that I can think of....... NEW: Upper & Lower Control Arm Bushings Upper & lower Control Arm Bushings Inner & Outer Toe links Center Link Idler Arm Upper & Lower Ball Joints Sway bar bushings NEW Front Axles.......... I've been getting nothing but the runaround from the dealership ever since I brought my truck back to fix the original issue that I came there to fixed. It's still not resolved. Jose told me that I never brought these issues up to him initially (when this is actually written on the original invoice that I was complaining of noises coming from the front suspension) ... When I first met Jose told me he would diagnose the problem before replacing anything. Now he's telling me he never said that and that I never brought these issues to him when its written on the original invoice. I was told: During a test drive with the tech: "Even new cars make this noise" < this is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard any "knowledgeable" technician tell me about an issue with a vehicle. This by itself disqualifies him as being a so called expert. "You're not supposed to drive it that way" (essentially blaming me for driving incorrectly!?) "That its an old truck and it's going to make noise" - sure I agree but I have driven plenty of old trucks that don't make that much noise. I told the service manager that I didn't get this much bs at my Lexus dealer and he said "we're not lexus" Am I to believe that since they're not a Lexus dealership that I'm supposed to get a lower level of customer service? They were giving me a hard time for keeping the car while they waited on some horn parts and then the truck sits all week with *nothing* done to it when the AC could have been fixed if Anthony (another service assistant) communicated that I wanted to get it fixed. Now I have to wait another 4-5 days for them guys to get your acts together. And now I'm told that there are no OEM zerk fittings to lube the chassis - is this true? If so where are they? Can someone show me in the FSM where they can lube the crap out of this thing and I can be done with it? I've already dropped 5k on a 2k truck......... aaaaaaaakkkkkkkkkkkkgrrrrrrrrrrrr I've even escalated this issue to the general manager of Nissan and he doesn't seem to give a $h!t either......
  8. How did you replace this OEM wiring harness then? I'm trying to understand what this all means...... from what I read: The brown 3 wire is to the main power harness, ECU, etc The green and black is to the starter,
  9. Can you post a pic of what that wiring looks like from the + to the starter? are there any fusible links there?
  10. The truck is at the shop getting a new starter ...... the original problem was that someone removed all the fusible links behind the battery and one of the wires came loose that goes to the starter........ so I was there yesterday to look at the truck and it would start 3 out of 5 tries...... that tells me its still an electrical issue right? If its a bad starter, then its never going to work right?
  11. so a bad starter just clicks as if the battery is dead? the dealership is trying to convince me my starter just suddenly died out of the blue.......
  12. Any recommendations on what i should say to these morons? Are these fusible links the same harness that is in thispic? Thx
  13. my point was that this is the only way to reproduce the sound.. I was just irritated that they're trying to deflect the issue saying that its normal... not that anyone *should* be hitting speed bumps at 25mph.. I do it all the time and its fine. Even in my NSX.. the road humps here aren't that big of a bump and most suv's can glide over them without disrupting the car... and for the record the speed limits on these roads are 35. Anyways back on topic.
  14. Yea agreed....its Glendale Nissan dealership and I've argued with the service Manger for at least 2 hours over this...... and they pretty much forced me to replace the sway bar end links bc the bushings weren't installed in the proper order... They wouldn't just remove the aftermarket bushings and put them back on in the right order... anyways im pretty much SOL as they've already got $650 in parts & labor in this thing + the $330 starter that won't fix the problem... I'm going to go back on monday afternoon and show them the part numbers for the fusible links and make them show me where they go.... this is inexcusable.
  15. I sent them an email with the above part numbers.... and to replace it if its not there.
  16. I'll have to go back up to the shop and make them take it for a test drive.... ill be sure to take a video w my cell next time..
  17. Took it back to the stealership to make them fix the noise since none of these new parts fixed the issue and I rode along with the technician over speed humps and told him to go over it about 15-25mph and he said "oh yea all trucks make that noise even new ones" im like seriously dude? wtf? and then he said "you're not supposed to drive that fast over speed bumps anyways" and then he said "its your front bumper that's loose" which makes no noise whatsoever.. then they said yea its $524 for a new bumper im like uh no. ugh....... then they kept going back to blaming the aftermarket parts... what else can i do? It sounds like an old spring somewhere that is rubbing up against something... hard to describe. And can not be reproduced by bouncing the truck by hand when its parked......so annoying.
  18. so the stealership claims they fixed the wiring issue but now all of a sudden they say the starter is bad when I've had zero problems with it starting in the past minus these electrical issues. Sometimes it cranks find and sometimes it just clicks like a dead battery which doesn't seem like a bad starter. Also they said there are no fuseable links in or around the battery ......(!?!?!) so the truck is still there at the shop to get a new starter....
  19. What is that wiring harness called and what do I need to replace it? Starter wiring harness? Obviously the green wire thats loose on mine must be the custom pushbutton start .....so I'd have to replace a few things.......
  20. Yes I did see that brown loop but there.... I think it has to do with a few things...... #1, some ghetto wiring that was done for the push button start (who needs this in a pathy?) and the loose wires in your first pic... I dropped it off at the dealer and hopefully they can tear out all that custom crap and replace the old wies.. I thought that bundle of wires in your first pic was not OEM but apparently it is ...... what is it?
  21. Omg thank you! Can someone please post a picture of what the wiring looks like around the battery? I'm dropping it off at the shop tonight as I can't be stranded in the middle of the street during my commute... thanks again Alkorahil!!
  22. Luckily I was able to stick that green wire back in and the truck starts... I just want to find the proper wiring harness for this thing and be done with this......
  23. I made the mistake of removing that green wire coming out of that mess or harnesses last night and the truck wouldn't start. So I think its some sort of jerry rigged kill switch as a part of some old ass alarm system. Can anyone give me part numbers to replace these wiring harnesses with OEM parts? I want to rip all this crap out and clean it up...
  24. No the terminal is very tight - anytime I touch the wires coming out of the green thing or the black thing next to it the truck dies.... I have no idea why its setup this way I just want to get it fixed....
