  1. My alternator crapped out a few weeks ago. It was the first time I've changed one and it was difficult. Access on the 3.5 is hard. I didn't reconnect the bracket for the wiring harness, I couldn't get to it. I did the same thing as you by just lowering the sway bar. The most difficult part was getting to the nut for the long through-bolt. In the end I'm still glad I did it myself. Not getting gouged on shop labor and being self sufficient is a great feeling.
  2. Good call, if it overheats and the owner didn't disclose that, who knows what else he isn't telling you.
  3. If anyone has a bent or otherwise junk lower trailing arm, would you be willing to cut it in half to verify that it is completely hollow, and measure the inside diameter of the arm? It would be greatly appreciated!
  4. That's true, I think I may do both. I have new lca's with poly bushes sitting in the shed, I never want to have to deal with bent arms. If I do it, I will take lots of pics!
  5. Adding strength is an interesting consideration. since the stock arms are hollow, what if you cut them in half at the middle, and got a thicker, stronger steel tube the exact right diameter to fit inside. then slide the 2 ends over it and weld it up. you could add length this way too, if you choose.
  6. I have vacation coming up in September, if my truck is ready I will take you up on that! Right now my transfer case will only shift between 2wd and 4LO. I'm hoping to get that sorted out soon though
  7. I may be interested! Next summer is pretty far off though.
  8. I know what you mean! I always wish I lived in the Southwest too, grass is always greener I guess. Great pics looks like fun. Did you need the winch yet?
  9. He doesn't make them anymore. No one was buying them. They were made of square aluminium, adjustable length, and with poly bushings greasable via zerk fittings. I've had a thread up for a while in parts wanted looking for used ones, nothing yet
  10. Sounds like you've got er covered, for all the grief you've been through at least you will get a good return on the trails, and the road after one of our 4' snowfalls The only other thing that would be great for one of these massive lifts is longer/extendable trailing arms. Fleuries ones looked great I don't understand why no one bought them.
  11. Heh, yeah. That will definitely be the next thing I try, especially since checking the bearings will get me halfway there, and I have a CV boot to change.
  12. There's definitely worn parts though, I didn't have excessive wheel play before so I can't help thinking the knocking is related. The axles shouldn't affect that
  13. No, the noise is present with hubs locked and unlocked. I'll check the manual for that info when I can
  14. Thanks a lot ferrariowner123! If new tie rods and ball joints doesn't cure it, I will get new bearings.
  15. Yeah, both sides are like that, they're the OEM axles. I've had them both out to change the inner CV boots, pretty certain I replaced all the c clips and everything.
  16. Also annoyingly, after 1 week of hubs locked in driving, my new Rockford CV boot tore. I must have installed it wrong I guess, but I can't see how. I thought removing my nx4 spacers would like end this CV boot nightmare!
  17. Looks really good, 4" sfd with 33mt is where I want to go with mine as well! Do you find it harder to get in now that it's so high? [emoji14]
  18. Hmm, I had the outer bearings out about a year ago when I changed the brake rotors. I repacked them with grease before reinstall. Never touched the inner ones. Would they be loose to be making knocking noises?
  19. Sorry yeah, the half shafts. So far I've just replaced the sway bar links, but I've got a ton of play in the wheels, with hands at 3&9, and 6&12. So I've ordered new ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, and steering rack bushings. I will update after I install these items.
  20. So today I was trying to find an annoying knocking from my front end as I drive over bumpy roads, and when I pull on my drive shafts they seem to move in and out at the hubs, and make a metallic clunk. Is this normal? Im thinking this might be the noise. I'm thinking about removing the drive shafts just to see, but maybe I'm not installing them right and someone knows what's the problem here. http://vid26.photobucket.com/albums/c135/TwoGunzUp/Mobile%20Uploads/VID_20150705_125353_zps5onleq32.mp4
  21. You can also buy hub centric rings, that will allow you to keep your wheels! I hope that's all it is!
  22. I don't think this is an issue with front drivetrain, seeing as he said it occurs even with the hubs disengaged...
