  1. Tie rods, loose wheel bearing, bottom ball joint shot, etc, all things to check. It's easy to see if the rubber rack mounting bushings are shot (mine were, steering fluid had leaked on them & disintegrated them) plus you'll probably hear a "clonk" when you turn. I replaced the rubber mounts, it's not hard but the driver side is a bit of a pain in the arse. There's 2 bolts that hold a metal retaining cup for each bushing & there's one bolt on the driver side that is a bit hard to get to, but patience & persistence will get you through.
  2. I've experienced a winter in Edmonton, AB, & my car had a block heater (plugged in), so starting without one is a tribute to Nissan!
  3. 96Pathfinder4x4 & I are heading down to AB this weekend with my meetup group & I'm in the El Paso mountains with Death Valley Jim on the 18th (kinda limits January for me). How about Feb?
  4. One way is to fab a rear bumper & mount the tire carrier to that, this is what I was going to do with a WD21 carrier I have.
  5. Anaheim Pick-Your-Part have an R50 swing out tire carrier if anyone in So Cal is looking for one. It's off a 1996 SE.
  6. Went to Anaheim "Pick-Your-part" today, not only did I find 2 undented doors, they were also the exact same color as my old & dented doors! Happy New Year!

      Anytime Kyle, anytime!

  7. I have one sitting in my garage, it's a pity you're the other side of the country! I already checked shipping to the East Coast for someone else that wanted it & it was around $300 I think.
  8. I had a brief look & it seemed ok. I was thinking today that I've been messing around under the drivers kick panel doing some rewiring, from the FSM it seems that the ac control unit is there so I'm wondering if I damaged something. I'll check it out in a day or two.
  9. I checked the stoppers & they both seem ok, but I'll get a couple of spares anyway. I'll see what I can find using the FSM.
  10. Thanks guys & thanks for the part numbers A, I'll check out the rubber bumpers tomorrow.
  11. I'm sorry guys I messed up. It has nothing to do with the ac, it's just the cruise control that's acting up, I don't know why the heck I mentioned the ac!
  12. Hi all, my ac was working fine but now suddenly each time I switch it on the green "Cruise Control" light on the dash flashes on & off & the cruise won't engage. I haven't tested anything yet, just seeing if anyone has a simple answer first. Thanks.
  13. I drilled holes for mine in the stock roof rack cross bar & it works ok, you just can't get the lights near the edge of the roof but if you don't mind them set back a little (& lighting up your hood) then you don't need a dedicated light bar. I have the 24" led bar but wish I'd got the 36" bar.
  14. The only problem I found with mixing led & halogen is the color (kelvin) difference. After you get used to the nice clean white light of the led bar, the grungy orangey/yellow light of the halogens doesn't mix very well even though they're very bright.
  15. I have a 24" 7200 lumen led bar on top & 2 1600 lumen spots on the bumper, the led's are very bright & a nice white light but they don't project as far as my old KC Daylighters. As silverpath says the distance isn't as good with leds but the amps are way lower than with halogen. I'm thinking of putting hid bulbs in my Daylighters & putting them back on for times when I need some distance. all my lights are on separate switches so I have a lot of lighting combo options. PS. My led bar is an el cheapo china knockoff, works great & is pretty well made. My 2 led spots are Ironman & are also well made & pretty bright.
  16. Thanks S. Miss you, the wife & the dog on our trips bro, I'm outnumbered by Heeps & Toyotas, need more Nissans!!
  17. Same as me, my windshield is all pitted & sometimes it's hard to see out of. Bloody sand storms!!!
  18. Thanks B, I am lucky being able to head out to all these places. Easy runs, sometimes with a few sticky spots, but just getting out into the desert is so much fun, except we have to take some Heeps & Toyota's with us!
  19. There are suggestions not to use full synthetic oil in older motors as the molecules are smaller & can cause oil leaks. I use a semi synthetic blend in mine (about the same limes).
  20. Yeah, right where my mud guards used to be. Ditto with the speedo error, haven't noticed any play in the steering wheel but it seems very light which is weird considering the tires are so much wider. I'm glad I got the wider tires though, they're just fantastic in the sand & soft dirt! Here's a shot from my trip last weekend to The Turtle Mountains, the Toyo has 11.5 tires & you can see the small but noticeable difference....... & a couple more shots just for the hell of it.........
  21. Haven't noticed any real loss of power, maybe a little but nothing to worry about. There are a couple of rub marks on the rear fenders from flex, & slight rub on full lock at the front & at full compression. Again, nothing to worry about, I may do a little more cutting to fix it. Love the Duratracs though, felt great on the road & on the trail, performed great through soft sand, gravel, rocks, etc. Glad I got the 33x12.5's, the extra height & width made a big difference out in the Mojave!
  22. Hmmm, mine say "Plies; 4 tread: 2 polyester, 2 steel. 2 sidewall: polyester". I searched around online & couldn't find any reference to new Duratracs having Kevlar. Maybe mine are older stock? It's strange that they offer the warranty on Duratracs which are clearly designed to be used off road as well as on pavement (& have weaker sidewalls so they're more likely to get damage), yet don't offer it (at least in my store) for the MT's with Kevlar which is a stronger tire & less likely to get damage Go Figure
  23. I'm guessing you saw the video of the sandstorm in Borrego Springs? A rock blew my rear glass out going over Montezuma Grade, 90mph winds! Nearly ripped the passenger door off also when my idiot passenger opened it. There were a couple of other cars we saw that also had either windshield or back window blown out.
  24. I'm thinking of getting the 5 gallon aluminum tank from Hazard Fraught & fixing up a compressor in the vehicle that can inflate it . It means running air pipes but the pump itself will be inside. I was thinking of using a 110v compressor with an inverter but I'm not sure what the start draw on the pump would be. Probably too much for a vehicle, even with dual batteries.
