  1. Thanks S, the tires might take on the Rubicon but I don't think I'M capable! I do have doubts about the sidewall, I looked at the tire & I'm sure it said "sidewall 2 ply", even my El Cheapo Kelly's had 3 ply sidewalls! We'll see how they go, at least I can get replacements if they do tear the sidewalls, Discount Tires replaced one of my old Kelly's for a sidewall rip. It does seem a little bit less powerfull up hills but it's a bit early yet to judge, I'll get back to you on that one. It rides pretty smooth though, just a little noise & a slight vibration at about 40mph. Just have to see what the gas mileage is like also. The CV angle is still fine, even at full "frop" it is about 28 degrees, I read that 33 degrees is max so still within spec.
  2. Thanks, I was surprised at how "beefy" they look. Go figure, they told me "no mud tire comes with damage insurance".
  3. Ah, bummer, should be a great trip. We may not go into Monday, it depends what we can cover in 2 days. We'll go back again though.
  4. 2" AC lift, 1" strut spacers. 15x8 ProComp steelies, 3.75 backspace. No wheel spacers. 33x12.5x15. Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. Slight trimming of the fender at the bottom rear of the front fenders, in front of the bottom door hinge.
  5. Thanks! I'll let you know about the off road rub, we're heading to the Old Woman Mountains next weekend so that will be the maiden voyage froading. An SFD is in the future I'm thinking & maybe another 2" or so of lift..
  6. I just mentioned that in case anyone wants to come along, I'm still up for another Anza trip with NPORA. Can never get enough of Anza.
  7. That's correct mate, 33x12.5x15, Pro Comp wheels with 3.75 back spacing, 2" AC lift & 1" HDPE spacers from fluery's. They rubbed the fender at the back of the wheel arch, down at the bottom near the door. I cut the plastic inner liner & used a grinder to take off about 1" of the fender metal. I'll get a couple of closer shots once I tidy up the cuts. There's about 1/4" gap between the tire & the lower spring bucket on the strut, very close but it does not rub & as the tire wears the gap will get bigger of course
  8. Here's a side view of the new Duratracs........ Moving around to the front......... And from the front.......
  9. My meetup group is heading to Anza for a weekend on Jan 5th, any Pathy's are welcome to come along.
  10. Blimey! No more "Fast & Furious" I guess. Sad, a guy that had it all gone for a stupid reason.
  11. For a California meetup I say Gorman Trails in Hungry Valley, closer for the Nor Cal guys & not too far for us Orange County boys either. For a So Cal meetup Ocotillo Wells/Truckhaven would be good, the San Diego guys can make it also.
  12. I agree, my left knee is all f*#ked up after driving a tow truck in London for a few years. On one of our trips the smell of burning Jeep clutches was overpowering, lots of stalls also. Auto's are fine as long as you know how to drive them.
  13. Well, I went with the 33" Duratracs, they have tire insurance (MT's don't) & I got 5 installed, $1000 out the door. With the bigger lugs on the MT's they would have hit the lower spring bucket as I only have 3.75" back spacing. Anyway, they look friggin' awesome, just have a little rub on turns (at the bottom door pillar end of the fender), nothing a little grinder work won't fix. Sent from theexbrits iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Can you determine if it's front or back, K? Driver or passenger side? Knocks over bumps, turning corners, certain speeds? Give us a clue here bud
  15. You know I'm always up for it, Anza is a good choice, Joshua Tree or Gorman are others. Gorman is North of LA & we could hit maybe the Inyo area sometime as it's not so far for the No Cal guys to drive. My meetup group is heading to Anza in January for a weekend, some Pathy's & Xterra's but lots of Toyo, Heeps, etc, also.
  16. Thanks for the photos! Looks like I have some re-wiring to do
  17. That equates to about 31.6"x10.43"x16, you might get away with it on stock rims, there'll be someone will know for sure. I decided to go with 33" Duratracs, I don't do any mudding really & my Kelly's have been great for the desert, etc, but they're only 31's.
  18. I have KYB's also, they're supposed to be a good strut so I'm guessing it was just the angle I hit, etc. A strut is basically a hollow tube with a piston & rod inside so it's only as strong as the outer walls. I'm, glad it was the strut & not the steering rack or something else that bent, it was an easy fix. I really like your roof top basket/rack. What make & model is it? (your whole truck looks really good by the way!).
  19. Very true. When I had my argument with the pothole, the slotted holes hadn't shifted at all even though the blow was powerful enough to bend my strut.
  20. Enlighten me about the clutch delete plate if you would be so kind, I'm always up for rewiring to a better route.
  21. It seems to be random, some (such as me & a couple of others) have had really bad positive camber after the spacer install, but others (such as DVW, etc)) have had no issues at all. I elongated the top holes on the bottom of the struts & no have no posi camber at all.
  22. Thanks,! The light bar is surprisingly sturdy, all steel & very strong, as is the whole bumper. If I hit something with this bumper it's not going to be me that comes out worse off.
  23. I guess the other axle is 4.32:1, the SE LSD diff is that ratio because of the slightly bigger tires than the LE.......... I think.
  24. Thanks bro! Oh by the way, on that axle plate question you asked about B, I have the HG46 rear axle, so in the 1996 model it would be 4.625:1 unless I'm very much mistaken.
