  1. Pulled the radiator to gain more access to the P/S pump. Got it off within minutes of doing so. Now I've got to take the spent pump to the "big box store" to get my core charge-less new pump. Yay!
  2. How the hell does that even happen?
  3. What do you mean by wiring harness "bracket"? I would assume that it should be assisting a wiring harness somewhere? Take a good look around the top of the engine and follow all of the wires and make sure that everything looks like it's in place. Put your hands on them and make sure that they are all snug with each other. Other than that ...
  4. Yeah, I'd recommend shooting the bolt with a couple hits of PB Blaster the week leading up to your project. Mine came off with an impact wrench. A buddy of mine removes a spark plug and stuffs clean rope (not the abrasive synthetic fiber type) into the cylinder. The piston can't move and aids in removing a stubborn crank pulley bolt.
  5. Are you sure that all of the wiring harnesses and hoses were properly reconnected? IIRC there were something like six wiring harnesses on the left bank valve cover alone!
  6. Well, it seems that the year long PS leak from my TRE fiasco has finally caught up with me. I have been topping off the PS reservoir for the past year as the leak has persisted. Just over the past few days my steering has felt "heavy". It was fine as long as I had higher RPM's but, trying to turn into a parking space was brutal! Today the belt finally snapped after what seemed like only a few minutes of detecting the burning rubber smell. I crawled under Vajay when I got home to put my hand on the pump pulley. Low and behold, the pump has a nasty catch when I tried to spin it. I have two questions for any one that has dabbled with both (or either or) the steering rack and the PS pump. How much of a hassle is the pump to change? I want to do this task at home but, I do not have a paved surface to jack the truck off of the ground, which leads me to my second question. Can the rack be changed with out having to jack the front end off of the ground? If I have to, I will give it to my friend that is a professional mechanic. He can do it in no time flat but, has to charge me shop time as he is not the owner of the garage.
  7. I just installed both GM horns from a Chevy van a couple of months ago. Love the "honk" in lieu of the "meeeeeeeep".
  8. Had to "like" that post.
  9. Yeah, I think I recall reading that conversation too.
  10. Unfortunately, I know that is the power steering reservoir. My rack is leaking pretty bad and I have to top it off each time I fill up the gas tank. Actually, I think that I'm starting to push my luck as the steering is starting to feel "heavy". Ugh, my procrastination is catching up with me once again ...
  11. No &^%*ing wonder I can't find it using the search function!
  12. I bet those wheels would look nice black.
  13. Ha! Me to! What are the chances that you procrastinate as poorly (or greatly) as me?
  14. Defiantly different terrain from what we are used to seeing you wheel in. Looks like fun!
  15. Mine ran like that when my belt jumped the crank shaft pulley. Well, mine actually sounded a little worse and made my SES light flash (multiple random misfires). Do you detect a strong odor of gas when you rev it?
  16. Unless its an NPORA decal. Those don't get you much on the HP but, they do get you through the mud and over the rocks easier.
  17. Check the ground to the engine block as well. It is often over looked.
  18. I'd start by removing things like the factory running boards. That alone adds an inch or two of "visual height". Maybe paint your factory wheels as well. A couple of members here have done that (two or three guys come to mind fairly recently).
  19. Why is this thread in the "New People Start Here" section?
  20. So if you have a $150 budget, place $100 on the antenna and cable and $50 on the radio? I've used that logic with speakers and stereo's in the past. I too will be investing in a CB this summer.
  21. No! ... well, maybe? I know that my engine coolant sensor is located on a hose on the front of my 3.3L. However, I think that it could just be for the temp gauge on the instrument cluster and not for the ECU.
