My 99.5 has an access panel located under the carpet under the back seat (driver side). I'm pretty sure the WD21 has the same design. I've never removed the panel but, I do know that the pump assembly is accessible with out dropping the gas tank. Just fold the seat forward and remove the panel to inspect the hoses?

Yeah, the cams have to come off to remove the cylinder head(s). This is a good time to replace all of the gaskets, seals, etc. I'm still dragging my feet to replace the gasket on my wifes Honda. I can do the whole job in seven hours or so but, I just don't feel like doing it. She has been driving my Pathy (Vajayjay) as the DD while I sport around in my sexy Miata. Guess I'll have to "bite the bullet" soon as she keeps nagging about wanting "her" car back ..

While the Hayne's manuals are helpful, nothing beats the factory service manuals that the Nissan mechanics use. Adam is pointing you in the right direction.

Have you already removed the TB? If so, you just need to remove the head bolts to remove the cylinder head. Be sure to not skimp on a cheap head gasket. I did so on my wife's Prelude. I opted for a $20 "something'ish" which gave out within a couple hundred miles. I'll pony up for the $70 OEM gasket next time.

Oh yeah, my brother has a $25 Walmart kayak carrier that consists of two notched foam blocks and two pull straps that go through the door sills. It seems to work pretty good.

This is my method. Why spend the coin for a purpose built carrier when two cheap ratchet straps function just fine?

Just took it on a 12 hour long road trip (6 hours each way) and I am really glad that we decided to drive it in lieu of the Miata. What a comfortable drive. I went with the Warn hubs. They came with longer bolts but, I reused the factory flange bolts. I believe a couple of other members here have done the same.

Yes. They are always "locked". With the manual hubs (Mile Marker or Warn) you can physically turn a dial to disengage the CV axles from rotating while you are in 4x2. This results in less mechanical resistance of turning the front differential when you do not need the front wheels (4x4) to gain traction and increase your fuel mileage.

Let me throw another idea out there .. Can you replicate the "clunk" by placing your weight on the fender to mimic the "up and down" travel? If so, have a buddy bounce the front end and see if you can locate the sound while laying on the ground.

Last time I checked it was around 16 mpg (15.8 at the time to be exact). I have since changed my knobby 31" Duratracs for radial street tires. Maybe I should check what I'm getting now? You can simply lock in the hubs in the bad weather months you guys have up there.
