  1. Hey everyone. I am currently running 33x12.5 goodyear duratracs on 15x10 powdercoated steel wheels. Today I acquired a set of 4 older chevy rims that are 15x8 and alloy. I was just looking for a spare rim that would fit my 33x12.5 spare tire but i ran across all 4 alloys for 100 bucks. They are in great shape. Although I love the crazy low offset of my 15x10's (the wheels mounts closer to the inside edge of the rim, it's very low offset), they are very heavy.... Must be at least 45 lbs a piece just rim weight. The alloys are quite light on the other hand, and they actually fit the pathfinder nicer as far as rubbing is concerned, but dont look nearly as beefy if you ask me. . My question is how much do you think this would help my power and gas mileage by switching to the lighter alloy rims?? 15x10 steel low offset vs 15x8 alloy zero offset. current wheels new alloys how they fit now.
  2. well im going from personal experience with reliability. my sonys have never broken or failed in any way. many of my friends have been through 1 or more jvc decks within the 5 years i have had my one sony. still works perfectly. heres a couple pics.
  3. If you want to get a cheap deck get a sony. I have always used them and have 3 and NONE of them have EVER failed. even the 5 year old one still doesnt skip and it plays scratched discs. anyways.. in my pathy I am rocking a Sony Xplod deck 52w x 4. they are running to 2x phase linear 5.25" round speakers in the front doors and 2x MTX Thunder 5"x7" in the rear headliner. Running a 600W Kenwood amplifier to a 600W Sony Xplod 12" subwoofer. It's rockin enough for me!! I did it all custom, the fronts look stock I made the speakers fit under the stock covers and in the rear headliner I made adapters for them to fit in the stock holes and look clean and removed the stock covers as the speakers were far too deep to fit in without spacing. ill throw some pics up later... still need to make a custom sub box to fit in the side of my truck above the fender well to save space. This one I have in there now is a custom fit for my 240sx to fit in the dead spots in the sides of the hatch back.

      Oh man so nice. I just pulled about 500 miles of driving in the last few days travelling around in over a foot of snow. so epic, i mean really. man its so nice to have some real power in the rig now. i picked up a tow line and hooked it to my rear bumper and was pulling cars up really steep hills and out of ditches for days. so much fun!!!! the house i was staying at is on this crazy steep hill and most trucks could barely make it up and i was towing cars up it!!!...

Drove around in the 12+ inches of snow on where im at. these goodyear duratracs are absolutely BEAST in the snow and ice. even on really icy slippery roads and very steep hills it has great stopping power. the house im staying at is on a very steep hill and only my pathy and a hummer can make it up so i got a tow strap yesterday to pull cars up. hahaha. so much fun! i might try and get these things studded as well and see how much better it is. they do follow ruts a bit as they are 12.5 wide but really they are very controllable even at speeds. great tires!!
  6. I hear horror stories from people about ICBC but I have personally had pretty good experiences. I have no idea what rates are in other places but I think I pay 75 per month for full coverage with comprehensive coverage with my pathfinder and for my 240sx its only 69 per month. I find that pretty reasonable personally. I believe adding comprehensive was only a couple dollars more per month with is enough for my peace of mind. I had a minor accident at 60km an hour or so and ended up with a 45 000 $ cheque for some back pain I was having. Personally I have found the service to be great from them but I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. What do you pay for insurance where you guys are at for full coverage with comprehensive?
  7. Yeah I am running 33x12.5x15 duratracs and I agree with how light they are!! Even with the heavy steel rims they dont seem to weigh a whole lot more than my OEM 29s? lol. i mean they are heavier but not THAT much heavier. They are still not bad to take on and off the truck, pretty easy actually.
  8. My pathy just rolled over 250k KM yesterday! I believe the new VG33 also had 2XXk on it as well, so my odo should be pretty close.
  9. im running what i believe to be old chevy rims? they are steel 15x10 with a very low offset and very deep dish. they were originally white with one red and one blue stripe around the edge of the rim. they fit quite wide on the pathy but look very nice with flares. came free with the truck so i just powder coated them gunmetal and called it a day.
  10. got a lot done today... replaced inner/outer tie rods, idler arm, centerlink. aligned it as best i can for now, its within 1/16th of an inch though for toe anyways. also did some exhaust work... cut out a rough section with a really nasty 90 bend and flare out to 3" pipe, just befoer the tailpipe. i used it because it was all i had when i fabbed the exhaust system(leftovers from old garbage custom dual exhaust system). now its a nice smooth 2.5 inch new pipe all the way back with a nice smooth 90 bend for the side exit in front of the rear wheels. also moved the pipe forward a little (bout an inch) in case my tires pick up a lot of sticky mud so it wont touch the pipe. i extended the tailpipe just a little longer as well changed the angle so it points slightly towards the rear, as the exhaust was drafting forward when i was idling... i think because my tires stick out so much it causes a draft spot ? anyways now it seems to blow out and back, much better anyways. just need to figure out my uneven rear JGC lift spring issue, patch a little more floor rust and fix my ebrake cable (make some drop brackets with a junkyard cable), and this pathy wont have a single issue. will be nice!! took some work though after all the years of abuse!!!! haha
  11. Okay I see your point. Well I have a few hours of free time tomorrow so I will try out what you say. I would like to get this resolved at least before the snow that is suppose to be coming here soon. i sure wont be crawling under my rig then!
  12. i have had 2 fixed about to be a third one so just going by experience, but yeah i suppose if you dont have comprehensive..... get comprehensive it's cheap!!!
  13. my insurance has NEVER increased because of a windshield claim. i know this for a fact... i still have maximum discount and my rates have never changed.
  14. dude you are in bc, why not take it to icbc and get them to fix it for the 200$ deductable? wouldnt that make a lot more sense?
  15. okay everyone here is saying that they lean to the RIGHT. that the side that is lower is on the passenger side and the side that is higher is on the driver side... on my truck it is the opposite. it is leaning to the LEFT not the right... everyone keeps saying the truck will lean to the RIGHT if its the panhard keeping me up... ?
  16. gotta say man. you got some great articulation out of that front end. puts my buddys stock r50 to shame...lol BUT WOAH on the pricetag of those struts.... 1290!!! even a full set of coilovers for my Z32 300ZX cost that much for all 4 Silk Roads.... just insane price. but ya get what ya pay for i guess huh ??
  17. Productive day!! installed JGC springs for a 3" inch lift (at least) over where i was at. Cranked up tbars to match... Tracked down the broken fuse and got my power mirrors/rear wiper working again. Figured out why my keyless entry was acting up over bumps... hood button was being pushed in and out when the hood bounced and made the lights flash when i hit bumps *DUH*. Fixed the button... All I got left to do is install all my new front end parts and get an alignment and i will have run out of things to fix.... guess it's time to plan more mods. Panhard drop bracket, limiting straps in the rear and low profile bump stops here I come...
  18. ah yes! thanks for all the replies everyone. i am going to swap springs over tomorrow. i have a gut feeling it will work, i hope im right lol. i must say though my pathy rides MUCH nicer ON and OFF road with these springs. on the road it is more stable and soaks up bumps on the straight and mid corner better with less body roll (have no rear anti roll bar). off road i can go on average 10-15km/h faster with the same amount of control on a logging road up to a local trail i test my mods with. it soaked up the harsh potholes MUCH nicer and kept more control when hitting them at speed. pretty impressed for 50 bucks i gotta say. hopefully i can just get them level now and i will be a happy man. i did also replace the shocks with just monroe cheap replacements for a ford bronco II front and ford f350 rear. whatever rates they are, they compliment cranked t bars and jgc springs very nicely with the damping rates. my vehicles does not bounce at all, the bumps are damn near perfectly damped. pretty damn good ghetto setup. lol

I love my 90's nissans Yeah i know what you mean with the hicas. you have to have tight suspension bushings and a perfect 4 wheel alignment for it to function properly. when the car is in the same condition(or better) than when it left the factory then hicas works great. when you have 20 year old failing multi-link bushings and the alignment is even slightly out of check it is a handful to drive(mostly in bad weather, but sometimes can get squirrelly on dry roads when the tires are spinning hehehe.
  20. well i drove it to a parking lot and tried it there and it was still sitting uneven when i looked from the rear. hmm. i will try tomorrow to lift it back up and see if i can shift the spring around so it will sit even like the other side... when i was putting the new springs in i could barely compress it to get it back in the spot so i was also thinking 40-50 lbs of weight shouldnt matter on one side....i must have been pulling down at least 100 lbs of pressure just to get it to compress the half inch i needed to get it into the spring perch... it must be how the spring is sitting differently, i am also going to swap the springs side for side when i reseat them and see what happens and if the other side gets lifted up.... might as well give it a shot while i have it lifted up again.
  21. hmmm maybe i did do the lower side in reverse now you got me thinkin... i gunna double check... im pretty sure they are both going up, both of yours looked pinched eh? hmmm..... **edit: nope both uncut sides are down and seated into the lower part the same...**
  22. lol previous owner backed it into a tree so it has an SE hatch on a XE truck. and yeah thanks for clearing it up i get that when the suspension is fully unloaded that the passenger wheel will droop more. but the truck does sit uneven when it is on the ground. both springs were installed in the same direction with the cut ends up. i used the uncut ends on the bottom as thats where i could line it up so they would both be the same. i do have my jack/spare tire on the side that is lower. do u think that is enough weight to throw it off that much ??? and that panhard angle is when the rear axle was unloaded fully so i could get the springs in and out, that is not ride height???. when its sitting on the ground it only has a slight pitch to it... should i have the cut ends pointing down and the uncut sides on the upper part ???
  23. i also thought the panhard drop down bracket is to fix side to side location... not ride height...???
  24. this is normal right? the one side flexed more than the other?
