yeah oilman, i'm with you, a lot of it is just personal opinion. i was just making the comment that putting a 2" or more body lift on is just adding more stress to your body mounts, not that its enormously dangerous or anything. kremmen: thanks for the link =)

of course it's a forum, where else are you going to get scientific advice on offroading? =) and while pirate guys are occasionally punks, they usually know what they're talking about. and it did support my point. "The biggest problem with a body lift is the stess it puts on the body mounts and the body lift itself. An inch or so is fine, but over that and it really starts multiplying the stress applied to the mounts."

haha it's actually the hardcore offroaders that dislike body lifts, you put much more than a 1-2" body lift on and then put your rig on some rocks, you're going to put some excessive and unnecessary force on your body mounts. i know we all h4t3 on pirate, but: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread....light=body+lifT

i'm a member of a local 4x4 forum where there's an annual membership of $20, which gives you a custom avatar, custom user title, a star next to your name, ability to attach pictures to posts, ability to have a profile picture, and most importantly, access to the search function. i think having a fee for these special features, but still having totally free access to people who just want to jump on and ask a question or read around is the ticket.

yeah, when i replaced my shocks i remember having the same problem. seriously just soak them in PB blaster (or wd-40 if that's all you have, anything helps) and give them what-for with a breaker bar or hammer =)

i've had this problem too, slam the door and all the doors lock, sometimes they'll randomly lock again right after unlocking too. weird, but i've gotten over it. and now i also carry a key in my wallet. =)

haha, i doubt he's intentionally selling them as pathfinder lights when he knows they don't fit. =) when i bought my first set of clear corners (from some actual store, not on eBay), the people very much thought they were for a pathfinder, since their parts catalogs (or probably whoever manufactured them) assumed that the fact that pathys and HBs share similar front ends that the corner lenses would be the same. sure, point out the fact that this isn't the case but it won't do any good.

yeah, i could MAYBE see the need for a fund for hosting and whatnot, but not really, since as 88 said, the cost of GOOD hosting nowadays is relatively cheap. in my opinion, i agree with JJ, donating money to specific individuals doesn't sound too good, we all have trouble in life and we all have broken pieces on our trucks and you can't objectively decide who "needs" the money more than anyone else.

i agree that there need to be multiple administrators of both the forums AND the webspace that the site is hosted on... it makes absolutely no sense to have just one. if you're going to start a website and have it turn into a whole community, its now a responsibility to make sure you support it and having one admin is not a good way to do that.

yeah, manhandling a spare tire on and off the roof whenever you need it sounds like it would be a major PITA, plus the fact that putting a (inserthowevermuchatireweighs) lb. tire on the very top of your rig would throw your COG all wacky...

yep, with the 3" body lift they might get in the way of the tcase shifter... there is that 2-3" of carpet there between the console and the shifters but who knows until you try

they won't give you your money back, and they still haven't changed the description apparently, I accidentally got the HB ones way back in the day and they didn't even come close to fitting properly, so i called them up and read them the riot act and it didn't accomplish anything. i posted about this mistake a while back... procarparts is the place that i ended up getting the right corner lenses for my 93.

scored a grant steering wheel and a new hi-lift, and a gift card to summit racing =)

from my original post "couldn't find any bolts that would thread into those holes" i figured it out though, no worries =) might have been the same setup as yours but i couldn't tell. due to the structure of the steering wheel, the bars that make the frame go behind those threaded holes, making for a hole that's only three or four threads deep... so the bolts i was using were the right size and they were threading as far in as they would go. ended up just running them all the way in and then using the middle bolt on the puller to pull the wheel... might either be a perfectly acceptable way to do it or a perfectly acceptable way to screw up the steering shaft but it seems to have worked out okay.
