  1. Yeah, try unplugging the stock alarm. It's under the driver's seat.
  2. I'm not saying it'll happen every time, but I've seen way too many people with posts like "ran it out of gas and now no fuel pump".
  3. DC voltage shouldn't smoke any voltmeter I can think of. Especially at only 12V. Save yourself some time and just go to an auto parts store and have them test it for you...
  4. Running it out of gas is the fastest way to kill your fuel pump I can think of. Just so you know. I wouldn't voluntarily do it.
  5. You can't. It's an integral part of the FI system.
  6. Corner marker lights are 8 watts, turn signal bulbs are 24 or so. That's why it flashes fast.
  7. It's not pressurized, it won't blow a seal from having a bit too much fluid in it. 5 quarts is what the doctor prescribes for this application, yes.
  8. They're either 2-wire or 3-wire. The one in the pic above is a 3-wire. Bosch is supposed to be the best, NGK would be another good one, beyond that I dunno.
  9. What's to tell? Put it together and the system will self-purge after a short while.
  10. Something that hasn't been mentioned here is the weak points of stock Nissan IFS and the benefits of changing to a solid axle. IFS is strong enough to stay together in stock form. The steering is another story, but still. Modify the IFS with a lift kit and take it offroad anyplace other than a mud puddle and it will start to degrade/wear out all the bushings, the CV axles will wreck themselves in certain situations, and the steering parts will certainly be ruined in short order. Many other parts will fail(balljoints come to mind), especially if you run bigger tires. A solid axle in stock form generally has none of those weak points to contend with in the same offroading situation. Even with bigger tires. It is a stronger setup to begin with and can handle the stresses much better with fewer moving/pivoting/bushed parts. That's why it is considered to be an upgrade and people are impressed with it so much.
  11. There isn't one. When you run the engine, the pump will pump fluid through the lines for you and the bubbles will run out on their own. Then just top it off. Putting synthetic in with regular is fine if you want. I've hardly heard of anyone with an R50 complaining of the auto dying...they changed the cooler design after 95.
  12. Belts, and it works much better to re-tension the belts if they're still in good shape. Belt dressing doesn't work for crap, in my experience. It could also be the AC idler pulley bearing.
  13. It doesn't take anywhere near an hour to find/patch a hole. They stick the tire on a machine with a spreader and go over the inside of the tire to find the puncture. Or they could go the old-skoo way and just dunk the whole shebang in a barrel of water and watch for bubbles.
  14. 3500 my butt. Drive over a truck scale sometime. Mine was 4200 with me in it last I checked, and I weigh 175.
  15. Go with the Autozone set. $80 for OEM wires is a rip-off.
  16. Yes, you can replace it without pulling the engine. There are a lot of threads on the timing belt, search around a little and you'll find info galore. I commented in a timing belt thread just yesterday, if that gives you any idea...
  17. I've heard they're good. Good budget winch. *shrug*
  18. Could be an older, unrevised Chilton's book. You never know.
  19. Yeah, pull up the carpet in the cargo area, open the little hatch and check the wiring. It tends to collect dirt and crap on top of the tank and the wiring corrodes fairly easily. It's a Pathfinder quirk.
  20. You should probably take into account that the Maxima is FWD, too. Not that the engine is much different but the routing must be quite different, apparently. The VG30E was used in about five different vehicles(at least) from 87-95 and they didn't change much.
  21. I'd go with a good 92-95 over a R50. Just for the frame and cause I know most of the ins-and-outs of working on 'em.
  22. Could be sticking injectors, bad O2 AND MAF sensor, bad TPS as well, bad fuel pressure regulator...I dunno. There's no way to tell until you get into it and start testing things.
