  2. Hence why my whole thing was "IF I had to get one..." Butttttt an fj60 or uzj100 is fine with me,since hte 70s aren't here because there "is no market for them" Speaking of the devil.... http://expeditionportal.com/vehicules/58-other/1172-5-awesome-4wds-america-cant-have.html
  3. Ya for the price of an ICON you can prolly find an original not too molested rig. And ya, aside from the older series (a la Gods must be crazy) Classic Range Rover is the way to go
  4. ^ that. At 100k my assumption is some of hte things that go wrong still have some time. At about 148k, my rear main seal was leaking pretty bad, my passenger side valve cover gasket has a slight weep going on and one of my c/v boots is torn a little bit (running manual hubs so I just leave it unlocked). Had the trailing arm bushings replaced about a year ago- the way to tell if they are bad is you will notice a wobbling or as I liked to describe it a "floating" whenever you are going pretty quick- post 45mph and you hit a bump. Also see how the clutch feels? I'm at 152k now and so far so good.
  5. First video made me think of Subaru Outback/forester. Good thing this wasn't my sway decision on what brand i'm buying next.
  6. As much as I love the look and romanticism of the Defender/Series Land Rovers, I want something that runs more oft than not
  7. Solution, with even better visability http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_e9qvJjbBExE/TUwjbkU8REI/AAAAAAAACLQ/HPhTOFG2W3g/s1600/toyota+land+cruiser+70+series.jpg
  8. If I could get one of these in diesel, i'd give a damn less about the rest of the market. http://www.privatefleet.com.au/images/upload/Image/toyota-landcruiser-70.jpg
  9. Its what makes a subaru, a subaru
  10. Good on ya KovemaN, and congrats to 918pathy. Makes me glad to see people still care about one another these days, and that the shop owner is willing to take on someone who may or may not turn out to be a worthy investment of his time (no offense 918), all for the sake of passing on well learned knowledge.
  11. Cos they know underneath it all, the caR50 (the original Hybrid) is better

    Today . . .

In Martinsburg, wv I saw a lifted QX4 getting onto I81 north at aboot 3ish pm. Black wheels, silver bull bar (not brush guard). Anyone on here be piloting that vessle? Looks like it had a suspension lift in front and rear and the front sagged a bit. I farted by in my Camry since the path is at the Dr's.

    Shrooms?

..cheetos and a sticky bean bag chair? So the next question is... who has an orange-well you can finish that thought
  17. I dig it. If they offered it in a manual and sold it to the public, i'd get one- utilitarian and simple.
  18. Like this guys mom > OP- looks like the majority vote is caR50. You know what you must do
  19. out of those, i'd take the caR50. If he wants to really get sodomized with gas prices but wants something unstoppable except for rust, get an FJ60 and the head gasket problem on le 4runner stopped with the introduction of the 96 model.
  20. best way to check- drive down road, move steering wheel back and forth a lil bit. If you feel the back end floating around, tis ze death wobble
  21. OP Welcome to the party Are you experiencing the death wobble? Maybe look into getting the trailing arm bushings replaced. TIming belt replaced recently? Those seem to be the hot topics concerning the r50 :my2cents: (cents added for inflation)
  22. Manual hubs on your 96 will make a difference. After installing mine I sit at about 16.5 with mostly suburban driving and 19.7ish at 70-80 highways. A Jeep? Unless it is one of the new little car jeeps (compass, etc) you will more than likely will see the same MPGs. :my2cents: (extra icon added to compensate for inflation)
  23. I'm guessing its a 15 gallon tank. My 86.5 d21 2wd had a 15 galloner. Same engine as yourself. Guessing this since the wd21 is based on the d21.
