Sounds like you just toasted a fusible link of a large fuse near the battery. You are insane man! You definitely need a roll cage ASAP! James

Mid Skid Plate Project Is ...*FINISHED*
JamesRich replied to fleurys's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Looks great! Now you need to post some pics with some skid marks on it! I think welding the blocks was a good idea. I understand why you put the windows but if you only have to remove 4 bolts to drop it and it cant be very heavy since its aluminum I think I would have left it solid. Did you tack weld the nuts to the frame so you don't need a backup when you remove it? James -
If they are topping out you will know it! I did this on my wd21 and it road like a solid rear axle. I got some shocks for a 95 F150 4X4. I had to drill out the rubber bushing on the lower end and use the rubber pieces from the stock shocks. James

They lost more than A customer, I won't buy from a company that doesn't back their products. Your not the first person I've seen complain so I won't chance becoming one of their statistics. James

Yea some genius engineer decided to put rack and pinion on the Titan too. It drives and handles like a car which is great until you hook a 8000# camper to the back. The steering is so sensitive with a heavy load that you have to drive with both hands and your teeth to keep from swaying all over the road! I'm talking move one finger off the wheel and its swaying! I still have my old Iphone thats over two years old. The only phone I ever had that lasted the whole two year contract. (except for the giant bag phone I had in 94) The battery is finally crapping out so I want to go trade it on a new Iphone with the GPS in it, then I shouldn't need a separate GPS. James

You are in for a lot of fun! No matter how you remove the decals you will still have trouble getting the glue off. I have used one similar to this wheel and it worked pretty good with the combination of automotive goo off. the goo off softens the glue and the wheel rolls the glue into balls that can be wiped off without damaging the paint but its no quick process. http://detailgear.com/browseproducts/3M-Pinstripe-Removal-Wheel.HTML James

Good job man! I know what you mean about working out of a shed when used to a large shop thats why I'm about to give up on my bumper project. I don't envy you I hate welding aluminum! James -
I have a Garmin Zumo because I bought it for my bike first. Its a GPS made especially for bikes so its water proof and shock proof but it comes with a cradle for the car too. It also cost alot more then the car models. In my opinion Garmin is the way to go. As beastpath stated you can buy (or find in a torrent) topo maps to add to it. You can set it in off road mode when you leave the roads and create routes for trails using mapsource (also found in torrents) so you should be able to navigate to your favorite off road spot. I still haven't had a chance to try the off road routes yet because I didn't have an extra cradle for my 4 wheeler. As soon as the pathys ready I will map out my hunting lease. James I did the laptop idea in my Titan with a 7" screen in the factory navigation housing above the radio with the little pod GPS on the dash. The laptop is under the passenger seat with a small key board and hand held mouse in the center console. It works pretty cool but is a pain in the butt to put in addresses because the screen is so small. My titan is a street machine only though, I think the laptop would take a beating on the trail.

I like my 2 door, they are the original pathfinders! But from your list I would pick the 4 door unless it has a crap load of miles. It's newer and already has some mods done to it. The one painted with the roller most probably is covering loads of bondo! James

TK1 took the pictures down. I would love to see his pics, it sounds like he is just modifying the CL without cutting and welding on it. I've had some spherical bearings for a while trying to find time to build a CL. I would like to see how he does it. Anyone have a pic of his setup? James

Ok so it's not just my pathy that slow. I agree with the over 3500rpm comment. James

Yea my Titan at WOT doesn't shift into the last gear till 100mph. Uprev in Austin can take that rev limiter off for you. I got my pathy up to 85 once, to get to 100 I would have to be going upwind down a big hill for a mile and a half. James

My Titan is an 06 so I don't have the brake pin issue, but I do have the fuel gauge problem. My dealer changed it once and the new unit does the same thing. And i don't think Nissan cares much about there customers because it took a lot of hell raising before they changed the unit out. They wouldn't believe me that it was screwing up because it always read correctly when I brought it in. They never did fix the brake issue I had either. They just kept making excuses for why the truck would shake when braking. Nothing more aggravating than having a $36,000 truck with 4000 miles shaking like a piece of crap every time I stop! I finally (hopefully) fixed the problem with some slotted frozen rotors and hawk performance pads. It just kills me to have to pay out of my own pocket ($425 just for the front) to fix a problem that the truck had since it was new. Thats why I wont be buying another Nissan. Sorry for venting just I been through alot of crap with this titan and the 04 I had before it. James

Thats good to know, I have the AC UCA and made my own 1/2 spacers. The ball joints are not at the proper angle but they don't bottom out when the suspension is fully up. I was thinking about getting different UCA but if they are working for you I might just run them for a while. I still don't like the angle the axles are at. You haven't had any trouble with your CV joints? James

So if it's duel spec I can use the same oil in the whole drive drain? James

Your not supposed to put it in your socks man!

I'm not sure on the pathy but I have an AEM brute force intake on my Titan. All the fastest titans on clubtitan.org are running AEMs. James

The missing plug is what excites the field in the stator (or is it armature ) to make it charge. It cant be working without the plug unless someone put a modified one wire GM alternator on it. Did your replacement look just like the old one you took off? James

Got The 33X13.5X15 Interco Tsl Super Swampers On
JamesRich replied to muddfildvaynes's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
That looks sweet! I love a fat tire on a 4x4! Swampers are the best tire you can run around here for mud. They are loud and heavy though. They will kill your fuel mileage and high speed performance. But the only way you will get stuck is to high center! James -
Check out what I found on Craig's list http://beaumont.craigslist.org/rvs/1682981075.html Here's his utube video It used to be a pathfinder before someone with a saw got ahold to it. I bet it could be some fun though. In the video it sounds like he still has the V6. James

When I got a new thermostat the parts guy told me it was supposed to be a 170* thermostat so thats what I got. My needle sits about 1/4 past cold too. I would have thought it should be 180* at least but if they recommend 170* that should be where the computer expects it to run. James

I would also suggest less windows, unless you never go in the mud and only play on rocks. You will want to take it off occasional to clean the mud off of it. I didn't do this often enough on my 4 wheeler and it made a nasty mess. James -
This is the puller I have, it works great on everything I have used it on so far. http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=all&item_ID=10316&group_ID=1245&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog Your issue sounds like the pitman arm may be rubbing on the center link. You may have to put a washer in between to space them apart. Also if the two spherical inner races are not touching together they may be binding which will screw them up. Before you put the bolt through did you look inside to see if there was a space between the races? James
