  1. I read that you have to push down and pull back for N and 4L hah, Going to try that when I get home. Hopefully it works.(stupid me)
  2. My Nissan wont go into anything other than 2H 4H. It wont shift into 4L. I am wondering what the issue could be. Linkage maybe? Maybe someone could shed a little light on this subject for me. Also wondering how the 4wd works since Im new to 4wd do you have to shift into N before putting into 4wd or is it shift on the fly, and you have to go into reverse and drive back a couple of feet before your sure its out of 4wd? what about going backwards in 4wd is it when its in its in and you can go forward or reverse while 4wd is engaged? I'm just inexperienced with this and want to know more thanks.
  3. Ok I know this subject has been over posted but I have a new question. I live in Duluth MN it gets really cold. I bought a new Aftermarket AT cooler but wonder if installing it alone would be a mistake. It says to install it in series with factory cooler. I know factory cooler has a tendency to clog, so that poses a problem. I want my tranny to be warmed up in winter so installing it in series with factory would solve that. My uncle is a transmission mechanic and he flushes the factory AT coolers with mineral spirits. So I was wondering if I flushed cooler with mineral spirits and change the at fluid and clean the screen(is it a screen or filter that is replaceable?)would that be Ok or is anyone out there running a strait AT cooler not in series in colder climate without any issues?
  4. Replaced the ball joints. I was going to drill them because on some Chevy's there riveted on and when some people have to take em off they just drill em and bolt them up. After I drilled em 1 sides rubber got damaged, at least I tried. Wouldn't be so cheap but I just bought a $1000 slab saw for agates
  5. Ya, brake caliper doesn't have to come off. I removed it on one side and left it on the other, and found that it was nice having it off but not necessary its, less crowded with it off and easy to remove. UCA bolts will probably snap so be careful, I had 6/8 bolts snap, Just drilled it out put bigger bolts in and nutted them. Had the snap ring problem though, Its hard to get back on.
  6. I would have to strongly disagree if you live anywhere they put salt on the roads. Recently did my cvs, 6/8 UCA bolts snapped, A-frame might as well have been welded to ball joint snap rings wouldn't get on, I mean this can be a hellish job. I can see if you live in Arizona it would be a 30 min job, not in MN, try 3 hr + (drill, tap, drill, tap, heat, bang, heat, bang, bang, cry, cry,CRY)Repeat
  7. I checked them before I pulled the wheel I think there fine. I tried to take them out and I don't think its going to be easy. Plus Im going on about $600-700 in parts and about $2000-2500 in hours spent on this thing. You have to draw a line somewhere, if its not broke at this point I'm not going to fix it. Believe me enough things were broke that I have had to fix already. I need a ride before winter hits.(Usally at this point I would replace them either way but I really want to get this on the road.
  8. Nice work on repairing your frame. I'm going to start looking at mine as soon as I get these cv's buttoned up. Will post pics as I go
  9. Just wondering how bad this is and if I should try and weld on some bracer or just do the coating protector? drivers side is fine but this is a pick of the passenger side.
  10. Finally ready to put both cvs back in progress pic
  11. note that 6/8 uca bolts are snapped into the bj at least I still have 1 natural thread on each side. I think for the snapped bolts I'm going to drill it out a little larger than before and put some heaver duty bolts through and nut them with lock washers instead of having them thread through,I dont have a tap and I kind of drilled 3 offcenter with a smaller size drillbit.
  12. I don't think it would be worth it if you had to keep it on the street. Thats one of the main attractions to the NP, want speed buy a Camaro or something, want to blast through the mud get in the pathfinder. Really its not that slow, there's far more sluggish vehicles out there. I hear getting some after market exhaust manifolds($400+) can get ya around 15hp not a ton but there shiny to
  13. I'm near Canada boarder and it can get really cold. -30 F plus or minus a few, for days/weeks at a time.
  14. Omg your my interests double, besides the sports thing, wait poker is a sport right?
  15. Woo, Nice work on the great pic/truck. Looking forward to photos in the future keep it up.
  16. I live in Duluth, Mn and I don't know of any online parts stores located near me but you may want to try and look in the St.Paul/Minneapolis area they always have much more to offer, unless your picking agates
  17. Nice, this path seems like a powerhouse compared to the pos I've been driving. I'm still driving a 2wd 95 ford ranger 4 cylinder. It's so slow, been extremely reliable other than getting stuck. If it was 4wd bigger cab and 6 cylinder I would just keep it, ohh wait I just described the new features of my pathy Man new manifolds are expensive

  19. Ohh my A frames were stuck all right. Tried everything, got both sides done now just waiting for parts. I would recommend heating all around ubj, then position a bottle jack underneath A frame, heat again, and then pound a couple times and it pops right off. Really I couldn't have done it without heat and that bottle jack it was really on there.
  20. Only rust on my pathfinder is a little on front and maybe back bumper, ohh and the frame of course
  21. As I am sinking a bunch of time and money into this np do you think I should seriously grind frame down to steel and spray it with a protector? I really would be sad if frame snapped. I'm not doing any offroading with this thing yet but plan to in the distant future.
  22. I just did the head gasket on my 95 pathfinder. It wasn't the worst, but if its just the lifters you probably wont need to pull the heads off. If your paranoid have the heads pressure tested and do the lifters and the rockers. The hardest part of doing this is taking off the air intake and all the wires to get to the lifters. Get a book for your vehicle, take a couple snapshots of where all the wires are going and start disassembling. doing the lifters would take about 12 hours I'd estimate. Like I said I just tore into all of that so if you have any questions feel free to ask.
  23. What are the benefits of aftermarket exhaust manifolds. How can you tell if you stock manifolds are bad?
  24. Man this thing is getting to be a lot of work. Nothing like my ford ranger, Only have changed the oil beat the sh*t out of it and it still runs like a top. Ford=2wd and ugly, < pathy=4wd and pretty :)

  25. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=1580 May help you diagnose issue cheaply.
