  1. Sounds cheap to me, most quotes I've heard are around $700 for the timing belt alone. If you are ambitious you could tackle it yourself there's a very good write up by doctorbill. Can be done for around $100 if you do it yourself. Just think all of the alone time you would be able to spend with her.
  2. Very sorry to be reading this, no one deserves to go so young. Though I didn't know him I'm sad to see him go. May his memory live on forever, and I give my apologies to his family. Pat
  3. I have 4 leaky injectors and noticed my fuel pressure regulator wasn't even connected. I determined leaky injectors by pulling fuel rail up and putting a brown paper bag underneath them then put the key in the ignition to the on position do not crank though. 4 injectors were wet on the bag so there not holding there pressure.
  4. I could use 4 injectors, I guess it wasn't the fuel return hose it was the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose, doh. p.s email is pathanson1337@hotmail.com - can use to pm price on injectors
  5. So I went through the pain staking task of pulling off the intake to check for leaking injectors. I found the coolant hose to underneath the aac was split. My fuel return hose from the fuel rail wasn't connected either (no wonder Im getting crappy mileage). I found 4 leaky injectors, I was getting a ton of gas in my crank case. So should I put in new/used injectors and hope I didnt trash my main/cam bearings it has lifter noise but I dunno? Also does anyone have any used injectors(from a part out) they would sell?
  6. So I was driving on the highway going about 75-80 on and off when my acceleration jolted down about 5 mph twice I thought nothing about it untill acceleration stopped and I had to pull over. It was running really rough so I popped the hood so check connections. Couldnt find anything so I shut it off. Waited about 5 mins then tried to restart. It wouldn't start like it wasnt getting fuel or spark. It eventually started and ran fine all the way home and has been running ok still. I ran the codes and I got injector circuit and leaky injector. I also have a fuel leak somewhere ontop of the gas tank I checked it out and it looks to be the gasket to the sending unit. I chainged the oil because I am getting gas in the oil as well. I'm just wondering if the injector could have caused a problem like this and how to proceed.
  7. Thanks for the information will save me a huge headache. Go team PF
  8. Well last week I took a small trip and when I parked I noticed that there was a gas smell in the rear by the tank. I was just wondering if there is a common leak like the sending unit or maybe it could just be a hose? Suppose I wont really know until I drop the tank yay.
  9. Well I have found a 93 pathfinder from texas in my area for 550. Thinking about buying to part out and use a couple things for myself. check it I was thinking I would use the step up bars, The front quarter pannel, some window moldings and the nice chrome bumper headlights and blinkers. What do you think about using the lifter and rockerarms out of a used vehicle if it doesnt tick? And then I could grab the starter alternator radiator etc for spares. Heres what ad says 1993 Pathfinder Runs Great, Rides Good, heated seats power everything, almost a great vehicle! It doesnt have drive and overdrive. Frist and second are good. yes you can take it for a test drive, the 4X4 works great starts every time. It is in very good shape and is from Texas. Do you think there's any reason other than the trannys fried that it doesnt have anything but 1st and second and maybe reverse? Any thoughts or requests for parts you may be interested in may tip me over into buying this dead path
  10. I dunno Its nice having 4 doors when I have to put my daughter in her car seat. I like the look of the 2 doors but for easy living there is no substitute. So the 2 (extra) doors have there place in my world.
  11. I don't think there is though I replaced the head gasket on my 95 pathy Just get a manual it will go step by step for everything you need. I would recommend having it verified through a trusted shop that it needs to be replaced before you go any further as it can be alot of work. Its not really that bad, take pictures as you go along so you know where all the wires/vacuum lines go as some of them are not mentioned well in the manual. Keep all fasteners in ziplock bags labeled, and replace things that are easily gotten to like thermostat, any bad lifters/rockers, replace header exhaust manifold bolts. The shorter amount of time you can do it in the easier you will find it to be. I took awhile to do mine because I had a new baby work full time and am just busy in general. Good luck if you do decide to replace yours though I would make sure the rig is worth digging into that deep (rusty frame, slipping tranny etc..)If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a message.
  12. Thanks alot, I will have to take you up on that offer. Just need a little time to see what I need or just how many lifters/rockers I will need.
  13. I dunno I live in Duluth, MN and you can find rust free pathys for 1k, I think there may just be more suv type vehicles up here so no one wants to pay alot since there all over. As I got my 95 pathfinder 4x4 w/ limited slip with 91,000 miles for $650 needed a little work but not that much for the price and had no rust couple dings but who cares.
  14. I am my mechanic and my shop isn't pulling any strings for me anytime soon.
  15. I'm looking into buying new lifters and rocker arms for both heads and was wondering how much it will cost and what online store to buy from. I looked around on forums all night and couldn't find any recommendations for where to buy from. Thanks.
  16. Ya I replaced it, 2rd time im going into the T-belt Theres not going to be a 3rd. 1st time everything went great until I noticed cam seals were leaking. 2nd time I didnt use a 22 pound weight to check deflection I just used twist method and it was to tight so I went and got the right tension on. Question does anyone know if the passenger side farthest back exhaust manafold bolt can be drilled and tapped without taking the head off?
  17. I have a coolant leak coming through the timing cover and I cant tell if its coming from the waterpump gasket or the weeping hole on the underside of the water pump. I have the water pump off and it seems like its working fine. Is there any sign or way you can tell if the waterpump is shot or leaking through weep hole? its on the underside so I cant observe it while its running.
  18. I wouldnt even put an offer on this rig. Rust hole in the frame and more work to be done. Then you do the work and drive it for awhile and maybe want to upgrade, good luck selling something with a big rust hole through the frame with invalid odo. Not worth the effort where you are get something a little cleaner(would be almost worth it in MN where I live rust is normal).
  19. I was wondering what could cause my Ignition timing to bounce around. I hooked a timing light up and timed it it looks like its jumping up and down ranging from 10-15. So its not stable it bounces around about 5 degrees I was wondering what could be causing this. It runs great sometimes then feels boggy at other times due to timing Im assuming. Vacuum lines maybe?
  20. Hello, I have an issue where My radiator hose is going flat on the upper side. I replaced the hose and it still seems to want to flatten. Could this have anything to do with my waterpump? I'm going to replace my radiator cap and see if that does anything. Just looking for some insight on what could be going on here. Its getting to the point where I've worked on this thing more than I've driven it. Hope everything quiets down after this so I can rest in peace for awhile without worrying about checking under the hood everyday. Thanks
  21. They checked the oil hell maybe they put a new oil filter in and spilled some oil, just kidding. Sorry to hear that your truck was stolen. Hopefully you locate the problem, good luck man.
  22. I just unbolted the exhaust manifold from the head and pryed the exhaust down with a crowbar and jack, might have been unsafe but it was quick and easy. worked great and is possible to do, but I think I would have just unbolted that oil passage line if I would have known better.
  23. Hello again, I'm having vacuum line issues. I took all the lines off in the past took pictures where they all go back and my gf deleted the pics before I could reassemble it. So I was wondering if someone could do me a huge favor and take a good pic of where all the vacuum lines go or point me in the direction of a fsm diagram or something as the manual I have is useless for this. Thanks.
