  1. Like everyone says.....Your Descision.....I'm sticking with IFS, because of what i do with my Pathy (80 miles of commute a day and desert running on the wekends) If i lived anywhere else but SoCal, i'd probably consider a SAS. Solid Axles don't do well in the desert....Take a look at any SCORE or CORR truck...99.99% IFS. But when you look at trail or rock crawlers they're almost all Solid Axles....but even IFS is increasing in popularity with rock crawlers. Just my 2 bucks.....
  2. 15x8 with 3.5 bs here, with 32x11.5 BFG AT's
  3. Just go to the Autozone and ask them to borrow it for 10 minutes. If you offer up your drivers liscence they'll let you use it if you stay in the parking lot. I've used one from two different Autozones with no hassle or Deposit.
  4. How old are the Shocks/Struts? Are the ball joints shot? Uper and lower control arm bushings? How about an alignment, all cars and trucks need alignments after a period of time, no matter how carefully you drive.
  5. Vengeful...always the talkative and informative one....man you need to calm down on the massive word count you've been using in you replies.... Just givin ya crap!
  6. Since the new ride won't be slated for flying over the whoops of Ocotillo, you can ride with me.
  7. About the Video...... -thnkboutit- Forgive me.....i'm a lazy A@#....I've had the cd in my tool box drawer at work for months. I will try and get it to you soon....Sorry@! Not to make excuses, but for the last few months i've doing this.......
  8. DAMN TJ! Holy Crap! I'm glad your alright. Where were you? First the Pathy gets wrecked, then you with the concusion(sp?) and now the Flying Ranger....Whatever you get.....It's almost desert season!!!!! Ocotillo here we come!
  9. Check out your local discount ad magazine....sometimes you'll find some nice beefy old stick welders or maybe even a wire feed for under $300. If you get a 115/120 Volt wire feed, you MUST have a dedicated 20amp breaker for it. If you tie into an existing 20amp circuit, you'll spend more time resetting the breaker than welding. Also look for a welder with an internal cooling fan, if it doesn't have one i can tell you how to add one. The fan will increase the length and depth you can weld without stopping by 20-30%. Most of the Harbor Freight specials don't have fans, but it's real easy to add one. Happy Hunting
  10. How does powdercoating hold up to brake dust? I see a lot of aftermarket rim manufacturers actually paint and clear coat their rims.....Just my 2 cents.... I'm glad you found a good mechanic....i had a good one many years ago, but he had some personal issues and dissapeared on me, i've been looking for a new mechanic for 8 years now and i still can't find one i trust.....There are two good ones a my local stealership, but the hourly rates are insane ($80/Hr). I guess that's the going rate..... Good luck with the cam issues...i hope no serious damage has happened...
  11. Here's mine....its a Harbor Freight special Chicago Electric Dual MIG 131....Like MWS said, you get what you pay for....i can weld 1/8" no problem, but any thicker and i have toi pre-heat and use sheild gas, but it's not easy! I wouldn't do any suspension or frame welding with it, i bought for all my small house projects and to practice for work. At work we use 7 Different Miller units...don't remember the models and 4 different Lincolns....From what the welder guys tell me they like all the units, but they each have their limitations. If you plan on doing some serious frame or suspension welding, then save up and get a good unit like MWS said. If you only want to do some small sheet metal work and maybe some non critical brackets, then the unitl ike mine will do....but you'll quickly outgrow it. Happy hunting....
  12. Tyler...make me up a 4.5" lift and i'll be happy man....Oh wait..do i have to pay for it?
  13. Isn't it a little heavy to be moving from front to back? The behind the back seat idea sounds good, but how would you make it go to the front and back? Have you thought about what would happen if the cable broke while it was under the truck?
  14. No kidding!!!! 102 at my house yesterday! God i love SoCal
  15. Nice! Where did you get it, and more important...How much? Post some photos of how it'll be mounted.
  16. Sorry man, i had a set on my wifes Altima, but they went with it at trade in for her new Volvo S40
  17. Good luck with the mechanic...he sounds like he might know his Sh&^. As far as the rims, did you want the silver ones?
  18. Drop a Nissan engine with a supercharger out of a Frontier or an X....You can get the engines from Japan with 40K miles or less for cheap....Plus it would be an easier fit.... As far as SBC's....ran both of mine..a 307 and the a 350 for over 250K each....the reason they don't last is when you have a decent amout of power on hand you ten to drop the hammer on it a lot more.....with my POS 3.3 in my 97 Pathy i have to baby it for fear of it exploding....Of course the lack of power could be the 32" tires with stock gears... but who knows..... I miss my Chevelle!!!!!
  19. Man you have a lot of work ahead of you. But since your going totally Off Road with it, id say, gut it to the skeleton, cut the doors in half.....and whatever else you want to do, and everything all of us would love to do to ours.... I agree with 88, holly crap, that bumper seems HUGE! I'd be willing to pay $$$ to see that Pathy on those 38's! Good luck man....if you need any help, you know where to turn.....
  20. Hey Max...could you post those pictures again? I missed it....
  21. I would ask Discount or another tire and RIM! place to check the balance of them before you buy......Not too many repuatable(sp?) shops will bore out a RIM!...that's something only a machine shop would do to a RIM! So in conclusion...check the RIMS! out really good, and maybe even check out RIM! manufacturers to see if you can find a set of RIMS! that look similar, but were made for your truck. RIMS...RIMS...RIMS...RIMS.....Wheel is what caveman invented, RIMS are what go on your car!
  22. -bounce- -bounce- -bounce- It's about time! I think it took me that long to remove the lower rear control arm bolts on my Pathy.....But i actually cut them off with the die grinder!
  23. Do you have the Tech manual for the R50? I have it as a pdf....but the engine control section is 9.8MB's alone! I can trie and zip it and e-mail it to you. It shows every pin on the ECM (ECCS Control Module)...is this what your looking for?
  24. You can use CRUTCHFIELD to do allyour research and get any adapter/wire harness thingy's through them. Then go buy the unit they said will work somewhere else cheaper. Thats what i did. I got a hold of a Sony Explod from my work and bought the adapter plug so i could still have the head unit run throught hte stock Bose amp. Works great.....Wiring is a PIA, but it worked.
