  1. Thanks for all the replies everyone, really appreciate it! p.s. EXPLORx4 that document is great reference thanks!
  2. Gold also, needs some wax to hide the scratches!!
  3. Hi All, This is going to be a simple answer for someone out there. I am having problems getting the faceplate off from around the stereo, heater controls etc. I located the two screws at the bottom and removed them, can get the clips out (about the center of the plate), but what is holding it at the top? I am assuming the vents come out with the plate, but maybe I have to remove the vents somehow and there is a couple of screws in above them? Silly question, I have probably removed 10 of these things to get at the stereo on many other vehicles I've owned, but this one is really tight at the top and I don't want to break any plastic or anything.... The reason I need to get at the stereo is that (I'm assuming), the band/belt for the tape deck is broken and when you start the vehicle, you got this god awful clunking noise from the stereo. I think it is the auto-reverse trying to flip sides since it is not detecting any movement, but I could be totally off base with my assumption. Wierd thing is I never use the cassette deck, only the radio or cd player. There is no tape in the player and I can't see anything else lodged in there (I have a 3 year old). Anyone else had a problem like this? Oh yeah I should probably mention Tape Err shows up on the display too, I was just going to cut and cap one of the wires going to the tape deck motor if I can get at it once I get the deck out.... Thanks in advance, Aaron
  4. Hey Max!!!!! I just wanted to say, I didn't know a thing about you until this post - other than that you gave me a great deal on some chrome bumper ends. BUT you're my kind of guy.... that thing is a machine!!!!!!! (do I need to ask what the bumper ends came off of???? lol) Just as I looked at the spare tire on the back of your truck I'm thinking HOW BIG IS THAT TIRE, then when I keep scrolling down all my questions are answered. I can't do stuff like that to my pathy since it's our "main family vehicle", but when the next vehicle gets bought (probably a minivan :help: ), maybe I can start playing a little!!!!!! Anyways just wanted to say hi and wanted to back up your point that you have TOO much time on your hands Take care.... Aaron edited: spelling p.s. is that a "police line do not cross" yellow band in the background due to your neighbour??? lol
  5. Hmmmm, interesting topic. I realize car dealers will do almost anything to sell a vehicle, but when I test drove our Pathy, I realized someone had removed the sunshade for the roof. I told them I wanted another one put in, and they offered just to tint my sunroof. I made them put the sunshade back in but I had to pay a portion of the cost.... Glad I got it put back in now though.
  6. Interesting poll, just had our A/C fixed this year, probably wouldn't have spent the money but not really to fair for my 2 yr old daughter. The wind from the windows can still over power her little lungs and leave her gasping for air. I'm glad we had it fixed though, replaced the condensor and it's now working like a charm (800$ cdn later) - but we've probably already got our moneys worth out of it ... this year alone Should have taken it to Nissan when I still had extended warranty.... pssd My fault though can only blame myself... :furious:
  7. Actually apparently the newer GM's - where the glass actually flips out overtop of the roof, don't have them. My brothers alternator and battery just went in his grand prix and when he called the dealership to see if he could get the roof closed, they said there is no way. Stupid design if you ask me - I guess he should have got a Nissan, since our Pathfinder and our Infiniti car both had hand cranks.
  8. Well also being from Ontario I thought I'd chip in my 2 cents. I have a 99 LE, and it had a bad spot on the rear door, but not around the window, down where the plastic mount is located on the right side of the rear license plate. Dealership hid it from me pretty well, (screwed on the dealer plate, instead of hanging it on the back wiper). Didn't know about it until rust stains started running out from under my license plate.... (arghhhh). The only other spot(s) I have had a major issue not caused from stone chips is on the front bumper caps. Both rotted through from the inside out, Max Stryker gave me a great deal on a used set and we'll have to see how long they last. I was talking to a friend at work that has a 98, and he complained about rust around his back window, and his bumper caps where in identical state to mine, must be the salt etc up here. Congrats and good luck with your new truck!
  9. Wow thanks for the pic XPLORx4, Now you will be disappointed, not sure if I'm really up to pulling the hubs. I guess it might mean a trip to the shop. The Pathy is pretty much my wife's vehicle and not really ready to listen to the whining etc if things don't work out or if it takes longer than I thought.... Thanks again though... this site rocks!! Aaron
  10. No brake light, just the ABS light. Maybe this weekend I will pull the tires off and take a closer look, is there a sensor on every wheel guys?? (I'm a rookie at ABS stuff). Thanks for the replies everyone...
  11. When I searched got a tonne of responses for the Check Engine light but none for ABS light. My ABS light has recently lit up - it was on/off for about the first week, now it is continually on - brake fluid looks full. Is there anything I can diagnose myself on this system or do I have to go to the dealer?? It comes on constantly now. I live on a gravel road, if this might have something to do with it... (lots of dust). Had brakes done at the end of last fall.... didn't need much. Aaron
