I too did some extracting. Pulled my friends 2006 protoge out of a snow drift at lunch. Had to use moms isuzu rodeo as the pathy ain't drivable at the moment. Too bad to here about jim, its a great thing that he started. I right now also have no cash and the pathy's been off the road for 2 years next september :sniff:

Yeah, I can see the wire going to the shock in the front and back when i had the tires off. I always wondered, are they gas charged, how does it work? Zach, you should've taken it back, as mine have 340,000 Km on them and still work, minus the one that snapped and i still have to fix. Im considering tacking it on with my mig welder temporarily?
-
This may be slightly off topic but I have 340,000 kms on my 93 with an autotragic. This is the original trans with stock cooler. We've had this pathy since 1999 and never once had a problem with the trans. My dad had all the oils done regularly with whatever they call for, and 20w50 heavy duty oil in the engine. After reading this forum and what they have to say about the auto trans in the pathy's im shocked with mine. And it still runs fine and shifts smooth. Do I have the only good autotragic? No mods on this truck either, bone stock. And I can remember many road trips from ottawa to washington dc and more in the heat of mid summer.

im pretty sure mine has them in the rear too, because my friend started pushing on the bumper and i switched it to sport and he could hardly push anymore, a great invention in my book.

Junkyard transmission

My 93 has one, its in the bottem left corner of the dash, and it comes on if you go from at least 1/4 tank to empty, if you just get lazy and keep filling it with a jerry can, it doesn't light up when low and runs out of gas.
-
Yeah that'd be good to know, are there aftermarket shocks that'll work with it? Seems like ill have to replace my rear originals because one has snapped off. But the button worked well for me.
-
Yeah, I find it pretty useless, as you still loose control quite easily.
-
My dad went from the 93 pathy that got 20 average to his 2000 that gets around 16, I guess its because you need to shift around 3500 in that thing to get any decent acceleration on the highway.
-
If you don't like it, take the fuse out, thats what I did.
-
Oh i forgot to mention, that the shock is hanging lower than the one in the pick smashfinder added. Like its about 1 inch past the axle.
-
Is it even worth fixing if something serious has failed? I thought it could be that the springs are extremly tired as they are the original and I can remember when it was on the road that the tires used rub in the rear when dad hit a bump. OH By the way, I just realized that it is parked on uneven ground in that picture. It sat level when i moved it into the garage to clean the interior, it just is a bit of a "slinky".
-
Shouldn't be driving at 150kmh then lol Yeah it is likely to be nasty along with the frame rot. WHY DO THINGS KEEP BREAKING, and the cash keeps draining for other things. In the pic i have circled what seems to be broken. Remember this is a completly stock truck with frame rot, severe might i add.
-
I found a pic of what the back looks like, if it helps any. If you look at the right of the rear bumper, you can see where that same idiot hit it with his 4 wheeler.
-
K i can't get a pic of it. But does anyone have a pic of their suspension so i can point out what im talking about? "theres no way your rear shocks are good if you still have one connected and it bounces "too much". ive driven for weeks one a single shock and the difference was minimal" Maybe they're still OK but they can't go it alone?
-
Mine must be in that 1% also, as the elec suspension worked very well, untill this happend. And if he ruptured a brake line, don't count on him being friends with me much longer. You just don't screw with another mans vehicle, massive frame rot or not. I'll get another look at it some time. But I REALLY don't like moving it around with a damaged frame (see my other post), barely any brakes, and a disconnected shock as it bounces too much. Oh and about the snow, its been sitting for a while.
-
Ill try to get a pic sometime. But yes i meant shock absorber. I can't figure out how it could break off. The coil springs are fine though, I looked them over briefly.
-
I go over to my friends where the pathy is stored, start it up so I can work on it, and the brake light is on and the park brake is down. The pedal is extremly soft and the brakes hardly work. And the fluid is low. But the real thing that concerns me is that when i put it in park it was bouncing ALOT. I look underneath in the rear and discover the passenger side strut is either disconnected or snapped off from whatever it mounts to at the axle. Is there an easy fix for this? I have the adjustable suspension and would like to keep it. My friend does have a key, and I think he's been wheeling it or something. But now I've locked that key in the glove box with my original and disconnected the battery. heres a pic i took, you can kinda tell that its leaning towards the back right.

Stock speakers: detail of factory cross-overs?
adamzan replied to leojharris's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
I think my rear right speaker is finished, it crackles even at moderate volumes. The rest sound great for stock though. I just want to replace that speaker and put in a cd player. Are there adaptors for hooking a new head unit to the stock amps? My dads 2000 path also has very good sound for stock. I'm impressed with the quality of the components. sorry don't mean to hijack the post, just thought i should ask while i remembered. -

Maybe a stupid question, but can you change the stock head unit and speakers but keep using the stock amps? -
got it

i got some advice for you, get it fixed really soon, or it'll get worse real fast. Look at that picture above, you'd never think a truck that looks that good and is a 93 could have such a rusty frame.
-
I found a pic of the whole pathy, looks great I think for a 93. And by the way the previous owner took very good care of this truck and the frame still rotted. And those are the second set of bumpers on that truck.
-
Mines been sitting for like over a year so that might have something to do with it. I still move it around every once and a while but yeah maybe i should do something about the fluid although it was changed right before the truck was taken off the road.
