  1. Personally, I would let the shop handle it as Im going to. I welded once in high school (still in grade 12 now) but I don't believe that i could actually weld my frame and its crossmember on because i think a shop would do a much better job than i ever could. good luck though as my 1994 is still sitting out back at my buddies untill i have the time/cash to get it fixed.
  2. ive never had that problem at all on my 94 SE
  3. Mine, when it was on the road , a 94 auto will rev at 2800~ at 65 without OD and with OD it dropped to 2100 :o It's better on gas than my dads R50
  4. Yea thats them, there still attached to the frame, thank god, All i gotta do now is fix the rest of the frame.
  5. Are the sway bars those right angled things that you can see if you look at the truck on its side right in front of the rear tires?
  6. According to what my dad says, one of the linkages is "worn" and that was like 3 years ago, and now with my frame rust i don't know if there still there LOL I live around ottawa ontario and i guess ill have to see about the safety garbage.
  7. On my pathy Ive been told that my rear sway bars or stablilzers are broken, well one of them is at least. What do these things do? and are they a requirement for a vehicle to pass a safety inspection to get the plates?
  8. Yea about the timing belt, i don't think its ever been changed  But as soon as more important issues are fixed ie frame, i think it should be ok just moving from the garage to the parking spot.
  9. Im so glad i got it goin to because how it sounded when it died scared me a little because i thought the timing belt broke.
  10. I finally got around to it tonight and wow this thing is amazing, I just put a jerry can of gas in it, charged the batter for an hour and it started on the first crank!!! Now i can finally start to work on it
  11. Thanks for the advice, I'll advise on the progress once i get some time. Also i was just wondering, after the frame is fixed and passes inspection, would it be possible to add a reese hitch? or would there be to much stress for the poor old frame?
  12. I have a friend down for a while, actually who will help me attempt to fix it. Im going to the metal supermarket soon to buy some metal for something else im working on. I wanna buy some metal plate for the pathy frame or a U piece of metal that could replace the rotted out sections. Anyways how thick of metal should i use for this. I was thinking 1/4' steel but maybe i should get something thicker. Would like to hear your 2 cents thanks
  13. thanks for responding, ill definitly look into that. Also since my compressor hasn't been used for so long now (year and a bit) do you think it will still work at all?
  14. Ok first of all only one of my headlights work when only the running/daytime lights are on. As soon as i turn the switch to the nightime lowbeams they both work, they also work on highbeams as well so the lamps themselves are fine. Second of all my blower fan for the a/c and heat only works on 1 and 2, sometimes i used to be able to get it to go on 3 or 4 if i pushed on it hard. Third my a/c compressor does not even try to engage when i push the ac button. It was working great before but i dunno why its doing this now. Sometimes while i try to get the 3rd and 4th fan speeds to work the green ac light will flicker while i push on the fan selector. I don't have the automatic climate control though. thanks
  15. My muffler is welded to the frame cross bar just for that reason - to elminate the rattle the darn thing caused. Althought it makes no difference now that the cross bar is no longer attatched
  16. My compressor clutch just won't engage for some reason  It worked perfectly all those years before
  17. So after i fix it what kind of rust prevention should i apply? Just a basic oil spray inside the framerails and on the rest of the truck? I remember my dad having it oil sprayed once like 4 years ago but other than that i don't know what was done to it. The frame damage was discovered last september and its been sitting ever since. We took it in to costco to get new tires in august and i can't belive they didn't say anything... IDIOTS oh well at least i got 4 new bridgestone dueller 31's for free
  18. K thanks for the advice im very busy this week but i try to start the motor and let it move around a little bit just so nothing seizes. oh and what kind of cranking amps do this pathys need to turn the starter, because this battery i think is for a smaller car and thats why i didn't get to many cranks out of it (my dad let it sit for the winter without even starting it and the other battery froze to death) Im not that mechanically inclined so thats why my friends are helping me with my frame lol. Also im only 17 so its also a project truck for me.
  19. I will do as soon as i get time. Also is it ok to move it around the property in its condition? so far i just go really slow and try to avoid braking to reduce stress. oh and is it common for the crossmember to fall off on these model years?
  20. Its only like 100 feet give or take away from the garage, so im gonna try to boost it when my buddy gets back or we'll just pull it with his car.
  21. Ill tell you the story of what happend. The guy who owned it before my dad was a nut and he decides one day, hey lets go mudding in a farm field, im all for that too but he never cleaned it and that was over 6 years ago so when my dad bought it he never knew of all the crap that lingered inside. There was more in there but a friend and i have managed to clean alot of it out. Also i have gone around to the whole frame with a ball peen hammer and whacked the daylights out of it and i found all the rust holes.
  22. here are the pics, sorry i couldnt figure out how to put them directly on the forum http://img437.imageshack.us/img437/5540/im000562rw2.jpg http://img437.imageshack.us/img437/1140/im000563me5.jpg this last one is just a pic of the poor old girl now, not much body rust. http://img437.imageshack.us/img437/4762/im000565ct9.jpg the best thing is i got it for free, from my dad
  23. Is there an easy way to fix this temporarily so i can move the thing into the garage?
  24. I was going to attempt working on my frame yesterday and when i went to start up the truck it was idling around 200 very roughly and was shaking alot. Also since the idiot mechanic that my dad (who had it before me) took it too welded one of the muffler(still original 94 suprisingly but it came loose) hangars to the frame crossmemeber it was making a horrible rattling noise. Anyways the gas gauge was passed E and I knew what had happend, so i got a jerry can of gas and put it in. I go to turn it over and it turns over like 5 times and then the battery crapped out on me. I haven't tried to boost it yet as its being stored at a friends house, but how many more cranks will it take to get running again? and should i put even more fuel and some STP or something in the tank? Oh and the reason i was moving it was because its not in the garage at all times, but in the back behind some trees
  25. Check your crossmember right where the rear tire is, mine was making funny noises too, turns out it was the broken off crossmember hitting the differential. Not a pretty picture but im still working on finding a solution to my problem too.
