Pathfinder project on Extreme 4X4 T.V. show? UPDATE
5523Pathfinder replied to jitterymonkey's topic in General Forums
Look at it this way, the Viewfinder will go to every trail, haul stuff and transport people. Maybe they will talk about it more out on the trail. At least they chose a reliable vehicle to go out to the trails everytime! Not a one off fancy Extreme 4x4 that will only see the trail once. Think about that! -
Pathfinder project on Extreme 4X4 T.V. show? UPDATE

IM going to watch when I get home, around noon. -
anyone know a way to fix seatbelts so they retract?
5523Pathfinder replied to ahardb0dy's topic in The Garage
The part number is 87880-79900, d-ring kit. The TSB covers 2000-2007 pathfinders. -

Well, you can purchase the kit from any Nissan/Infiniti dealer. It comes with two peices of "tape" and two pieces of wire to clean the d-ring. I have found taking a small piece of fine sandpaper, about a inch thick, works much better. This will remove the buildup on the ring. Clean off as needed and install the tape. Its a bit tricky, but once its in you should be good. Make sure to not have any folds or anything in the tape. Use the belt to smooth it out. If its still slow, warranty can kick in and put in a new belt assembly. Just looked up how much we sell the kit for.......$12 w/o tax. -

Cleaning the D ring and installing the "tape" will not set off the air bag light. That is crap. If you do install it improperly, and cause the belt to drag, they might tell you to go pound sand. Once again, cleaning the ring is very simple. I have done a ton of these and yes, it does help. -
Easy swap? No, but anything is possible. The 3.5 was offered in the 2001-2004 models. You would need to swap a lot of parts including harnesses, crossmembers, basicly everything. Not too sure if anyone has actually tried the swap yet, but im sure they will ring in soon!

Wow! YOu are not shy about stating your issues in your first post! First of all, welcome the the board. There is a lot of information here on how to keep your Pathfinder going strong, even after 300,000 miles. Besides what it needs, how well was the vehicle maintained when it was being used on a regular basis? If it was just trashed and not taken car of, like any vehicle, it may continue to "nickle and dime" you for years to come. Pathfinders have been known to "take a lickin', and keep on tickin'", so to say. Im going to post some links that should help you with your problems. Also, you may want to start a Welcome thread in the New People Start Here thread. Post up some pictures so we can see what shape your rig is in. OK, here we go.... Keyless entry issues... http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=19755 Front end/suspension issues... http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=28544 http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=255 http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=28120 Water pump/Timing belt..... http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=12828 http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=23280 http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=26483 Door handles...well, they are pretty self explanitory for anyone. Remove the door panel, roll the window up, unbolt the handle and replace. Reassemble in reverse. Yes its work and may cost a few dollars, but there is always the Junk yards, Craigslist or even the for sale section here. Hope this helps and if you have more questions, ask away! Oh, you may wanna consider flushing the transmission and adding a external transmission fluid cooler. Our auto transmissions do no like heat! The factory cooler is just not enough!

Ok. So than I am to assume you relaced both the temp sensor(for the ECM, yellow end), and the Mass air flow meter with new units, correct? If you are burning too much fuel, your computer thinks you are running lean, hence the fuel dump. There is known issues with the O2 sensor itself, as well as water getting into the connector up on the right fender(the sensor harness runs over the top of the trans left to right, then up to the inner fender, behind the battery). It is possible the O2 is not thowing a code. I would pull it out and inspect to make sure nothing is obvious. You may also have a vaccum leak somewhere, causing the rich condition. Look around for anything loose or disconnected. You can even spray around the engine with some carb cleaner or brake clean to check for leaks. If it obvious, you probably can hear it hissing. When you checked the codes, what code(s) numbers were flashed? Oh, I will add, have you double checked the basics? Is the Engine timed properly? New spark plugs? Cap? Rotor? Oil level correct? Runs, well, idles smooth? No other major repairs before this happened?
-
Im not gonna lie, Im not going to try and findy your old posts. What exactly does your rig do? Happens all the time? Hot? Cold? What all have you changed? ECU codes? No reason to give up if you have gone through all the proper steps. More info you provide, the more we can help.

Pathfinder project on Extreme 4X4 T.V. show? UPDATE

They say you can watch full episodes on Powerblocktv.com. I know the last build was in 2008. Search Nissan crew rig. -
Sounds like you could have a couple of issues. First I would check the ECM for codes, there is a How-To in the garage section. Off the bat, it sounds like maybe you have a Throttle position sensor giving you some issue. It is adjustable, but I would go to the FSM for the proper way to adjust it(feeler gauge and a voltmeter). If you have good fluid(full flush I would assume, and you used the right fluid), its possible your are kicking out of lockup for some reason. Could be a senor or solenoid. Are you running stock size tires? Speedometer doesnt freak out at all does it? Look around and make sure nothing is loose or disconnected(connectors, vacuum lines, ect), and go from there.

I voted for the suspension work also. Im going to add something though, a new center link. If you do off road, and you dont want to chew your tires up, get a relacement centerlink. Grassroots, Calmini, make your own, whatever. With good stuff in place on the suspension, it will be able to handle the rest of the stuff, like the added weight of the winch and bumper! I started with a lift(3+3) and tires. Then added a locker. After burning up two factory centerlinks, I just installed a Grassroots CL. One heck of a process so far. I dont think it will ever end!

I was doing some searching and found out the portal axles were not going to work very well. Sounds like a Dana in the front and a Chrysler axle in the back. I will still watch. -
Pathfinder project on Extreme 4X4 T.V. show? UPDATE

I was just changing my recording settings and I looked ahead to next weeks episode of Extreme. Says its a new episodes with new axles getting installed in a Pathfinder!!! http://www.powerblocktv.com/site3/index.php/xtreme4x4-episodes?ep_num=XT2011-02&ep_sea=1001 -
They just fold down, dont they? You should have a almost flat floor at that point. Removing the seats would create a unlevel floor. Just put your plywood over the seats, folded down. Pop it out when you dont need it.
-
Yes, it does act as both. Those who are fully equiped, have a horn just under the brake master cylinder, and the control unit is under the drivers seat. The instructions should work or your rig, but, being the instructions are so old, anything is possible. As some have stated, a good aftermarket system may be a better choice. I believe everthing is tied in through the harness.

Ok, so a few months ago, while work was slow. I was reading in a parts guys' Jeep magazine(I read it fo the articles, I swear), parusing the builds of a many overdone Wrangler. But, Jeeps are what spur our offroad culture. What caught my eye more than anything, was a article asking other readers "If you were in charge of Jeep(Chrysler), what would you do?" It immediatly got me thinking about Nissan. Man, what would I do if I was in charge? So, I present the question to you. What would you do if you were in charge of Nissan? What would you do to/about current vehicles? What would you like to see in the future? Where would you point the company? I hope you are getting what I am getting at here. You dont have to change every little thing, maybe just one thing. So everyone, lets here it! What would I do? Well, I would continue to market Nissan and Infiniti as seperate as possible. I dont need a rebaged car on both sides(ie: Maxima and I30/35). At Infiniti, being thats what I am currently entrenched in, I would push for our own supercar. Glad to see Nissan got the GTR, but seriously, Infiniti needs its own, something bigger. What kind of car do you ask? Well, im thinking of turbocharged V8 power(gas or diesel), rear wheel drive, two seats. Im sure a few of you have seen the Essance? Well, take it up a notch. Light a possible, but luxury to the nines inside. All of the safety stuff is fine, but I wanna be able to turn it off. I wanna be able to push this car as the driver, not a electrically controlled passanger. Lets put our racing heritage to work. I would also like to see a smaller two-door entry luxury vehicle(think a G25 coupe). Just two seats. Either be gas or electric. On the Nissan side, well, the GTR and Z car have established themselved quite well. The rest of the lineup has done well. I would like to see the SE-R line expaneded(much like mazdaspeed), into each of the different vehicles. Thing is, I would like them to be a decent departure from thier baseline counterparts. If we had a Maxima SE-R, Im thinking body tweaks and turbos? Supercharger? This idea could be carried right down the line. Enough of letting Honda kill us with the Si vehicles. Time to step up or shut up. The trucks would probably get a complete overhaul. I would of always liked to see two specific things in the Titan. A V6, and a regular cab. If your gonna compete with the Big 3, you gotta offer the public choices. Yes, a diesel option is also a necessity. I think the push to have the luxury pickup everywhere has gone too far. Do you really need leather in a pickup? There are enough high quality synthetic materials out there that could last long, look great and take a beating. A base model pickup is a great starting point. Speaking of basic, what about at the other end of the spectrum? We should bring back a solid axle option, in at least 3/4 ton truck. But why not have it as a option in the smaller rigs also? A Frontier with a solid axle? Xterra? Customers are going to have to pay for this option. We all know the benifits and drawbacks to a solid axle. With all the technology we have now, something tells me a suspension design to provide a supple ride can be created, without going IFS. IFS will still be the mainstream, cause lets face it, most 4x4 owners never take thier vehicle off-road. I would also like to see the Xterra or Pathfinder shrink. Bring back the two door option. Multiple engine option would also be nice. Go straight at the Wrangler, as its the only vehicle in its "Catagory". Customer needs have changed again. Yes, the majority are grocery getters, but what about the weekend warrior? Thats what the Xterra was aimed at, but has now kind of lost. Think old Patrol. Everything you need, nothing you dont. Apocalypse vehicle! If we can create something like the Juke to fill a need, then we can create a two-door, V6, solid axle adventure vehicle to fill a need also. Ok, what else? Well, I have always liked the idea of the Scion brand. They are a completely different vehicle than any Toyotas, they just share engines. I say, and Im not sure if the hurdle is too high, but bring back the Datsun name. Have a small variety of vehicles that are great starter vehicles. Small, fuel saving, laking comforts, but fun to drive! Take a 510 for example. Make it rear wheel drive, but low on power. The inside should not be that nice, but at least look pleasant. We are talking about a starter vehicle that people can either trade up later on into a Nissan, or modify it to meet thier needs. This means actual accessories need to be created! People can "create" thier own vehicle with what they like. Maybe make everything plug and play? I would like to see the vehicles created stay under $20k. Its a big challenge, but not impossible. Ok, thats it for me. Im sure I could go on for days about different things and get deeper and deeper. But I wanna hear about what you would do!

Great minds think alike! Nice timing Dave!

They are in the How To section.... http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=23222 Might also wanna do some searching. MY1PATH did this and had some photos also, IIRC.

I would think, and I am no lawyer, you could get a written description of what the videos will be used for. Just saying they will be used in advertisement is kind of general. Maybe a written and signed disclosure letter of possible use should be asked about. Youtube videos are property of the poster and youtube, IIRC. Maybe IM just talking out my bum.

Oh, I get it Slick, King CaCa. I might watch that.... I havent recieved any emails at this point. Not that Im worried about it or anything. But as Morpheus stated, sounds a little strange. I got a email from a BMW "higher up", that wanted to give me a car.....SCAM. I tought the same thing when I read this email about using videos. BTW, I have some money tied up in a offshore account. I need $5000 to transfer the funds, which I dont have. Does anyone want to give me thier Back account number and routing number so I can transfer it over? I will pay you back $10k for the help! Anyone remember the thread that had the guy who sold his bike to a guy in Somalia or something like that. Ended up being a scammer in a town not far from him? Good Lord dont let that happen here.

I posted all of the TSB's I could find regarding the VSS system, in the How-to section. Here is the wiring diagram and pin numbers with wire colors. It should be the same, but I have never seen a box like that. It may be the original VSS unit that was later replaced by the one with the button in the middle.....

VG30 code 51 - injector "analysis"/circuit
5523Pathfinder replied to Mr. Pickles's topic in The Garage
There is no distributor on a J30. Engine is the same as the Z32. You should be able to look down the oil fill and watch the cams move while cranking. If it turns over freely, it may have a cold soak issue(maybe injector, maybe plugs). If everthing is moving the way it should, put the gas pedal to the floor and crank it over. This may take a few, but compression should build as you are introducing more air into a "flooded" chamber. It may sputter and eventually rev. Let it run for a few minutes. It may feel like it has a miss, but see if you can get it up to operating temp before deciding anything. Then I would remove a spark plug and inspect. Like most Nissans, these motors tend to prefer NGK plugs. If it doesnt work, check for spark. If you wanna shoot over here to Fife, I can let you borrow my in-line spark tester and go from there. Injectors are known to leak and fail. Also, fuel pressure regulators can fail internally(there are two on top of the engine). Post up what you find! I have a co-worker that lives out your way. If you cant figure it out, maybe I can talk him into stopping by.
