  1. Cleaned my air filter and replaced a split vacuum hose. Oh, and reattached my left gap guard after letting it drag on the freeway for a few days.
  2. Can you put your hand on the distributor cap cover while its running and feel it? When the timing belt has stretched far enough, the belt can "slap" and transer the noise up the distributor. Has the belt been changed at all? A recording or video would help out a ton.
  3. Replaced my factory security system siren with a aftermarket one(the original didnt survive the last wheeling trip). Now it sounds, well, interesting. I will know if someone is breaking in! Reinstalled my rear swaybar. Unkinked my rear washer fluid line. Need to pull my air filter and clean it(again, last wheeling trip dirtied it up real good).
  4. Well, the good thing is that what is leaking, is not fuel. I imagine someone must of put some kind of lube back there or got crazy with a can of Armor All. You should be able to pull the cluster assembly and clean it. Easy just, just a couple of screws.
  5. Well, its the internet. Its hard to do just about anything but whine or complain without actually being there. Maybe a few shots of how you supported everthing might help others understand what you did. Nunya is a good guy, dont judge him by the paint. Judge him by his spelling(unless he is using spellcheck)! Have you made a build thread yet? Beats making new threads all the time. Still, what you gonna do for paint?
  6. Before anyone gets in here and beats you up, I will get you going. First, the simple answer. 31 in tires came stock on pathfinders. As long as you dont get carried away with the width(10.5 was stock) you will be just fine. If you want to go to a bigger tire size, I would do some searching. Suspension lifts and body lifts have been covered in great detail by several other members. Im not yelling SEARCH! SEARCH! SEARCH! NOOB!, dont get me wrong. What you will see is that several other people have lifted thier rigs different ways, and its hard to list all that stuff, especially due to some members being inactive, or long gone(this does happen from time to time). Do some reading and make a informed decision, then if you still need help, by all means, ask away! I will add some links to get you going! http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=20711 http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=27432&st=0&p=510036&hl=+suspension%20+lift&fromsearch=1entry510036
  7. What should be said is..."To each thier own". I actually like the top. Roll back part of it for just the front seats or all seats(it does tie down doesnt it?). As for the cage, well, as long as you are sure its strong and will protect you, thats all that matters. Its nice to see something different done, thats for sure. You could be running on 20's lowered to the ground. Anyway, it reminds me of a rig exploring Africa or something. What ya going to do for paint? Oh, not all of us are arseholes. Let a few more people ring in before you get carried away. And Nunya painted his rig pink! No one else has?wants that!
  8. Well, I ended up painting my backup carrier, Semi-flat black. I layed down two coats of Self-etching primer, then two coats of Rustoleum Semi-flat black. I came out better than I thought it would. Problem is, I have already chipped it. When I do more fabrications to my original carrier, I will probably powdercoat it for durability. what do you think so far?
  9. Big Homie did 95% of Tahuya in 2wd. I like my BGFs!

I aired down to 20 psi for the run. Ran up the side of a few things as a test! it was cool seeing them conform to rocks and stumps.

  10. Going Wheeling Tomorrow!!!!

  11. I think the only way to find out is to look and see how htey are shaped. On this new one I got, I just looked at it and could tell they were teardrop shaped.
  12. So I picked up another carrier at ther JY today. Its off a 92, and it has teardrop shaped bushings in it. I did my modifications to it, just gotta finish drilling some holes and laying some paint. Honestly, I dont know what the difference is, or why the bushings are different.
  13. I compared the part numbers to what people had listed in the how-to thread, so I dont think so. I looked them up using the Nissan Fast system, using my vin number. Its wierd. I remember rebuilding one, like, 12 years ago in Phoenix. It was fairly simple. IM wondering if a different company is making them now?
  14. Ok, well I have decided to just paint it with a semi-gloss black for now. Im gonna make some changes to the carrier, so until I have the the way I want it, no powercoat. I attempted to rebuild the bushings last night. I found my bushings are way different than the ones I pulled out, and they dont fit the same. Also, they didnt include the longer upper pin. Now I wait to either modify or get new bushings(I ruined two of them on accident). I have a line on a second carrier for cheap. I may make the same modifications to it, then tear it apart and may powercoat that one. We will see. Anyone have another idea for bushings on the tire carrier?
  15. Has anyone had issues with the new bushings? i just found mine do not line up with the locating holes in the carrier end. The new ones hare tear shaped, and the old ones are round. Grind away? Drill away? Has anyone encountered this?
  16. Ok, so Im going to rebuild my rear tire carrier. I was thinking about giving it a facelift. As you can see, I cant make up my mind. Price may also be a factor, I ve got some quotes out. What do you think? if you have other suggestions, please, post them up. Thanks! Derek
  17. Look for a leak inside. Pull back the carpet where the clutch pin goes through the firewall. It will leak down the inside of the vehicle, and you wll never see it. Carpet padding usually soaks it up.
  18. If the check engine light came on, and they are telling you its a oil issue, I imagine you had cam sensor codes. There are two sensors on each side of the engine, neat the front. The are black and held in with one screw. Right bank is on the side of the motor, kind of tough to get to, but not bad. The left is on top of the engine, in front of the valve cover. These sensors have a tendency to go bad. In some cases, you can wipe off the buildup on the sensor(its a magnet), and they may work fine for a while. As far as oiling issues and noise, well, when was the last time you changed the oil? What oil viscosity did you use? Did it go a while without being changed the last time?
  19. I thought they said a the end, with the Pathfinder, that they were going to address steering and a few other issues in a future episode? Maybe I wrong. I would of liked to see how they adapted the rear axle to the Pathfinder rear suspension.
  20. I went wheeling today! Nanna nanna boo boo!

  21. Cleaned the glass, polished the windshield and added my sticker from christmas....
  22. Are you talking about the one above the radiator? Thats just a resenator tube for the airbox, to help with noise when acclerating. No big deal. Most chuck it when going to a CAI or snorkel.
  23. Ladies and Gentelmen! Mr. Conway Twitty!!!!

  24. Got washed this weekend, got a full tank of fuel this morning!
