Fan clutches fail all the time on many vehicles. The VG fan clutches tend to go funky after a while too. The best solution is to buy another one from Nissan or one from NAPA. I don't recommend getting one from a junkyard because it may not work for long after you put it in. FYI: NAPA Temp Products fan clutch, $60

Most likely an unhappy cat or a plugged up EGR valve.

They are all 76.5 C and have only one coolant direction. If you look at aftermarket thermostats they all list applications as 87-00.

The Pathfinder alloy wheels are better than those steelies unless you want to use bigger/wider tires.

Can anyone tell me why Nissan uses 3 different part numbers for VG30E thermostats? Would a Nissan thermostat for a 91 work in a 95? They have them listed as follows: 90-92 93-94 95 I'm confused...

Did you check the retaining ring for the bulb? Mine was broken causing the beam to be out of focus and would suck no matter how you aimed it.

no you should not have condensation and if your head light is out of focus then you should check the retaining lock ring that holds the bulb

Good to hear that! What I meant by straightening valves with a screwdriver is you take the rockers off and jam a screwdriver into the valve hole and pry the valves straight. It's a controversial method but worth a shot if you ever bend valves.

The hissing is from that cone filter you got there. What happened to the stock air box? In the other video where you rev the engine it sounds like a misfire. Check for a dead cylinder and if it's not dead then it's the exhaust studs.

I don't think you have to touch the main pulley bolt to adjust the pulley.

Drilling out to 10mm is a good idea and an improvement. However if you hate drilling heads just use the 300ZX turbo studs.

^ x2 on contact corrosion The cruise control is related to the cancel switch. My theory is if someone mashed the brake pedal too hard then the cancel switch may have been broken.

I used Lucas before and it made no difference but did improve the lifters on startup.

Bingo. The engine bay will be slightly warmer without the heat shields but it has no effect on the insulation of wires. The only reason why I think that heat shields are even there is to prevent something cool from touching the hot manifolds while the engine is running and warping/cracking them. Other than that they are pretty useless and some newer vehicles don't even have heat shields over exhaust manifolds. My drivers side heat shield just rusted off and was gone from rattling and breaking away.

Be very careful as to not confuse exhaust ticking with spark knock. Those two sound very similar but are completely different problems. An exhaust tick will be more consistent while a spark knock only occurs under certain rpms and certain load.

I replaced the MAF sensor and that fixed a problem I was having where the truck would just randomly bog down. The sound didn't go away so I'm going to try something else now.

On a first gen Pathfinder, you do not get anything roasted by removing those heat shields. Whoever said anything about roasting components without the heat shields is a moron. Nothing comes close to those exhaust manifolds to even be roasted. Also, those ground straps can be attached elsewhere besides the hot exhaust manifolds and be just as close to the engine. The exhaust manifolds would be the last place I would put ground straps. Putting ground straps on exhaust manifolds or even heat shields is a stupid idea because heat creates resistance.

The ticking is very faint so you need good hearing to be able to hear it. It doesn't really bother me. I just need a louder stereo.
