  1. Alright then as long as some form of engineering was involved then I'm good with that. I just hate to see people screw random crap to the trim without thinking about what they are doing. There is the right way and then there is the cheap way. Good job on that project 2dr!
  2. Of course I saw what he built. I was just throwing some questions out about it. I really wasn't sure about the handle though. WD21s weren't as beefy as WD22s and R50s are in terms of body reinforcement for the increasing safety standards.
  3. Never had one strip out on me before. A 2000 Xterra should be tons better in terms of A pillar strength due to advancements in safety and a mandatory increase in roll resistance.
  4. I didn't assume! I took the pillars apart completely before and don't think their strength is adequate for a heavy duty handle. Also, you are going to be squishing the plastic on the pillar by putting so much pressure on it. Those handles are a great idea on 4x4s but they don't work very well on the WD21 body. Later on, of course Nissan added more features not even found on WD21s. Not going to stop you from putting one in though and I think that your design looks great but make sure you set it up in a way where the plastic isn't crushed by the handle. If the plastic is stressed then it will crack and look like crap.
  5. I don't know about that... All my passengers have grabbed the handle above before taking sharp turns.
  6. I don't agree with that. There is absolutely nothing to hold the handle to except that thin piece of steel. The pillar is not made for the handle and neither is the plastic that sits on it. I don't think it will end well once you actually try to use it.
  7. It's most likely the throttle position sensor acting funny until the engine warms up and warms up the sensor along with it. Also, as you warm up the oxygen sensor turns on and evens things out.
  8. What's wrong with the handle above the passenger?

    V-Belts

20,000 miles is 1 year of driving for me.
  10. Thank you! +1 The front open differentials make it look like it's not using the front axle but I really want to know if he was using 4WD (spinning the front driveshaft at the same speed as the rear) or not. I guess I will have to ask him about that.

    V-Belts

Usually belts will shred if they are too loose and pulleys don't last if the belts are too tight. Either way too loose or too tight is never good news so I will check the belt deflection again with new belts.
  12. I'm about to -1 every post above this one... Can someone give me an answer already?

    V-Belts

I don't know but the A/C belt for some reason wears out only after 20,000 miles. The other belts still look like new. It has been a mystery but when I googled the issue it seems some Pathfinders just eat the A/C belts right up. My A/C clutch doesn't stick and the idler pulley free wheels just fine. Maybe there isn't enough tension on the A/C belt?
  14. So is it or isn't it? Can't anyone that's not a douchebag give me an answer? Is he purposely driving it in 2wd to kick up some sand? Or is that how the 4x4 works on these things?
  15. You can try some omni-directional LEDs there.
  16. I don't have a VQ powered R50 but the FSM should say something about hooking up an analog oil pressure gauge.
  17. How is the A/C going to work? Are you going to build custom lines?
  18. I generally don't work on the truck when it's raining.
  19. Not likely... The lightning strikes the body and not the engine.
  20. Now is the time to look into those Xterra axles with higher ratios.
  21. The exhaust manifolds are the hottest part of the engine. There is no such thing as equalizing resistivity. That's exactly what I'm saying yet people are disagreeing here, notice the -2 under my post. The engine is a good enough ground for all the little sensors. I think it's pointless how there are ground straps to the exhaust manifolds.
  22. Maybe there was more to those heads being aluminum than everyone thinks.
  23. If you don't want to dump any money then just leave it alone. The cams will work but it's more involved than that because then there is ECU tuning and all that other nonsense.
