      The_Magicians_Eye

I disagree! My 91 Pathy in it's stock form will out perform many many offroad worthy SUVs or Trucks in the rocks in their stock form. If you're talking after some major mods for rock crawling then you're wrong again. Anyone can build any vehicle to perform well in the rocks if they really want to. Nothing a little fab work can't fix ;)

    4. nismothunder

      nismothunder

Yeah, it be no crawler, it be a ROK CrawlEr'z yo

Some jeeps are ok for highway driving.

  6. To the asshole that's lowering my rep on purpose: Keep going, you are being very productive.

  7. Jacked up the truck with correct alignment. Still out of caster but whatever it drives straight and I'm not in the mood to shim those tension rods. I'll just wait until they wear again. lol

    2. Nefarious

      Nefarious

Well the tension rod should effect caster.. The adjustable tension rods on my 240sx directly increase/decrease caster. its moving the location of the lower control arm forward or backwards.

    3. Tungsten

      Tungsten

Yes, on Nissan cars you can adjust them. Their tension rod designs are a little different. On a truck you adjust the camber and caster with shims behind the UCA (where it attaches to the frame) and fine tune the camber with torsion bars.

    4. Tungsten

      Tungsten

OK so apparently you can adjust the caster with the tension rods but it's a pain in the ass. You only do it after you adjusted the UCA shims.

  8. Gates water pumps suck. Going back to Nissan.

It's funny because you ALWAYS buy Nissan parts..and the first time you DONT it lets you down... It must be a sign.

  9. Ok I'm done debating about cup holders. Next person that has to stop for a bus and has their drink fly out of the cup holder is going to know what I'm talking about.

I use #1 and #2 all the time for bottles. #3 isn't that great and really brittle so got to be careful there.

    3. 1994SEV6

      1994SEV6

Yeah..it definitely is brittle. No doubt about that. I got mine from a JY and one of them was cracked. Gorilla glue doesn't work that well either. I'm going to have to reinforce them somehow. Also, why is that all the center consoles I've found

      (4) have this sweet smelling, sticky caramel type syrup at the bottom?

    4. nismothunder

      nismothunder

Cause that sticky ass syrup was a factory option.

  10. gonna get the calmini steering kit soon woo

    2. Tungsten

      Tungsten

No... If you change that bushing to a bearing then the center link will bind with the tie rod ends. The only thing you can do on the stock design is to reinforce the idler arm or use a manual gear.

    3. amfq120

      amfq120

Will a grassroots centerlink handle offroading better?

    4. tmoore4512

      tmoore4512

Yes. And it is cheaper than the Calmini.

  11. Apparently timing belt tension seriously affects drive-ability. My truck feels more alive than ever before. Got to love timing belts.

    3. nismothunder

      nismothunder

Change chains is the same as belts, they last a lot longer though. EGR's are for Puh-sey engines.

    4. Tungsten

      Tungsten

Chains are more expensive and you need to change more things.

  12. Going with a 2WD center link swap.

      Tungsten

i agree and wait until i am done with mine it will be better than the grassroots setup and possibly better than the calmini setup as well

    3. Nefarious

      Nefarious

keep posted with pics. im working on a custom idler arm brace similar to calmini but i will make it fit perfect, this centerlink upgrade is what i really need now to handle my heavy wheels..

    4. Tungsten

      Tungsten

i will, new thread coming soon

it's going to be amazing and i tried to decide on what to do with the idler but not many members are of any help

I don't even know how I got that wrong. Yes, magic smoke was not released and I popped the fuse twice before I realized what was happening.

    3. Slartibartfast

      Slartibartfast

I had one of those when I put my driving lights on... put the fuse meant for the signal wire in line with the lamps. That didn't last long.

      Harbinger

That's nothing. I plumbed a transmission filter backward.

  17. Pathfinder now averages 21.2 mpg according to fuel receipts and mileage. I can live with that. Some of that was with the A/C running and city driving too.

None what so ever. The sump is so deep that the oil does not even touch the seals.

    3. nunya

      nunya

i've been saying that for years, I always put 5 quarts in mine and it shows at the full mark and has never caused a single issue.

Yeah it's weird how the FSM says 4. I guess they were trying to save oil at the factory? Or the cars take less? The oil fill spec is for 4WD though.
