How in the hell do I select a rig?
-
I just got some sweet tire chains but can only use them on the back as there is like no clearance up front.

Holy crap a guiness sounds delicious right about now. Oh and thanks to the mods for keeping us inline.

I almost always come to a stop before shifting into 4Hi. I have an automatic though. I have shifted on the fly while driving under 20 and heard no grinding at all but just for wear and tear sake I usually stop. And I am pretty sure your not supposed to go over 55 in 4Hi. I have caught myself doing 60 before so who knows if I did any damage or not.

Just spin real good to get that stuff out of the treads!! I did it earlier tonight actually, I had to move my truck so all the big crappy ford diesel trucks could park where I was so they could plug in. I went off the site and had a little bit of fun. Then i realized I have a headlight out. crap

Hi all, Check out this link below, I am thinking about getting this guys rear coils and 2" spacers. I am a tard as far as this IFS goes. My question is would this damage my CV's from normal driving? I am not wheelin my truck much at all these days since I work all the time. Heck i cannot even remember the last time I really flexed it out. Besides these crappy roads up to the rigs .They would be temporary as I do want to get kyb struts and ac lift shocks for the front eventually but just cannot spend 400-500 bucks off the bat as that would cut into our financial goal. I will not give this guy his 200 dollar asking price, I might give him 150 plus shipping. Please give me some advice and opinions. http://www.4x4parts.com/ubbthreads/showfla...;gonew=1#UNREAD

I would use the puller as a last resort. I did and broke the lip on the back. 200 bucks later and a lesson learned.

What other types of SUV make good off road vehicles besides pathys?
zonianbrat replied to NaturaTek's topic in General Forums
The Xterra is a real good off-road vehicle. My second choice besides my pathy. The new Off-road edition is supposed to be rated very good offroad. And they have like 240 hp so they are not a dog on the road either. I am not a fan of the FJ. Atleast not the new ones the old ones are awesome but that is another story. The new ones look too egg-shaped and I sat in one and I do notlike the view the pillars are huge and I think could get in the way when on the trail. Off-road they are supposed to be rated good too though. Dont even buy a Exploder if you want to take it off-road. My buddy has a 2002 and it sucks the big one off-road. He was so excited when he got it that we went on a local trail and I just cruised right along not getting stuck once I considered it a easy arse trail. He got stuck 2 times. I did not understand how the first time but anyway Not off-road worthy in my opinion. I'd have to say for a 2nd possibly full time off-roader I would probably look at Xterra's They also look the best when they are SAS'd. -
I see your point Grim but at the same time. When you buy a sports car like that it is not just about the speed. It is the design and the name. Porshe is a work of art imo. Same reason you buy a luxury car..for luxury. My dad has owned 2 mercedes and a Cadillac in the past 15 yrs and he says hands down it is Mercedes. The car was just built better and had a better ride. Your right they both go 65 but which rides better, smoother, quieter, handles better or simply has more bells and whistles. I am totally a truck person now but if I had alot of money I sure would have another sports car to cruise around in sitting in my garage.

I completely agree with on the cayman. But your not going to get one for 50K

Looks sweet. Man I gotta learn how to weld.

Looks freakin sweet Simon! Are you sporting Pezzy's stocker rims? You know I never liked how they looked on R50's but they take on a better look on the WD21. Weird, So where are your big arse 33" tires and rims?
-
I did what Simon said and it worked like a charm. Just remember to use the correct puller when taking of the harmonic balancer. I was dumb and used a 3 jaw puller and broke of the lip of my balancer. It was right at 200 bucks for a new one. Another tip is to make a cardboard template so you know where all the screws go for the timing belt covers, there are different sizes in different places. Are you going to go ahead and change the water pump, seals, tensioner, coolant bypass hose or anything else while your in there?
-
I'm guessing the woo-woo sound is tire balancing. Was there a reason why you had your brakes resurfaced when you truck now only has 52,000 miles on it? Were they grooved or warped? Did you replace the brakes too? Did you see how your bearings looked?

Question for the Mechanically inclined with Pathys...about tools
zonianbrat replied to NaturaTek's topic in General Forums
I have one of those black case crafstman i believe it was like 185 pc or something close. That is what I carry in the pathy. I have had the kit for like 4 or 5 years and it still works great. I am not sure if they have changed the design inside so that when you turn it over everything still falls out of it's spot but I just cut a piece of carpet to the shape and just put it in before I close it and it is tight. No tools fall out or rattle. It has worked great for me as a pathy tool kit plus I have an old medicine bag with other stuff like hammer channel locks vice grips screwdrivers fuses all kinds of crap. And I 2nd the idea of waiting till the day after thanksgiving. you will save a ton of money. -
Have you tried JC Whitney for the pans? I just know they have tons of crap for vehicles some useful some not.
-
Yeah check out where the leak is in relation to the truck. Then just look under the brake resevoir for the leak if

I agree with Ghost, I tracked a R34 on ebay once a while back and even made a bid on it. right hand drive gray R34 I only bid 13,500 just for sh!ts and giggles It sold for like 48,500.

I already like the looks of the 96-99 R50 but when they are lifted on big ass tires like Max's they just look awesome.
