We weren't camping at higher altitudes, but I did fill it up with cheap 87 octane gas before we left. However, I've always used that stuff, so who knows?

Yeah, 0325 is the knock sensor. But I read other posts here saying that code won't illuminate the SES light, so I have to wonder what else is going on. I think I'll have to take it somewhere else to get it scanned, like mentioned above.

Coming home from a camping trip this morning, my Service Engine Soon light came on and stayed on. I stopped by the local AutoZone on the way, and the guy was totally rude and unhelpful, but I did manage to get him to scan a code. It was P0325. When I got home, I did a search for that code on this forum, and the posts I found said to ignore it, but many also mentioned that the light won't come on. Mine is. Is it possible that there's ANOTHER code being stored that the stupid AutoZone guy didn't bother looking for, since he was too busy being a jerk and trying to smoke a cigarette in my truck? The truck seems to be running fine otherwise, but what the heck do I know? Thanks in advance.

So my horn and cruise don't work. I went to my parents house this weekend, and my stepdad (and electrical whiz) helped me find out why. Using the factory service manuals as a guide, we tested all of the connections, and determined that the problem is in the "spiral cable" in the steering wheel. However, we're both a little afraid of screwing around near the airbags, so I decided to ask the dealer what it would cost to replace. They wanted about $60 for the labor (not bad...) and $243 for the spiral cable!! First -- Can someone show me a picture/diagram/good description of a "Spiral Cable" so I can see what it is? Second -- Does anyone have a part number, so I can look online to see if the part is cheaper? Third -- Does anyone know of a good discount Nissan parts house online? UPDATE: As I was typing this message, the dealer called me back (my truck is there today to get the fuel filler tube replaced under recall) and said they looked at the horn/cruise for a few minutes. The mechanic said that he's concerned that the Airbag light is NOT lit right now. He said if it was the spiral cable, that the light would likely be on. Anyone got a better idea of what it might be?

Wow, thanks for the info. guys! I called my local dealer, and they said it IS under recall for the fuel filler tube. They're fixing it Monday for free. Awesome! Glad I posted here instead of spending a bunch of money at the independent mechanic's shop.

I've noticed that my new-to-me pathfinder is leaking gas when the tank is full. It didn't leak when I got it, because it only had 1/4 tank in it. But when I got it home, filled the tank, and parked it, I came back to a pool of gas near the driver's side rear tire. I'm wondering if this is a common/known issue with these trucks... I'm hoping it's just the filler neck, not the tank itself. We'll see... I'm taking it to the shop tomorrow to get it looked at, since I won't have the time nor the garage to mess with it myself anytime soon. Side note: Does the search function here suck, or is it just me? I've searched before posting every topic I've made, and it's given me irrelevant information each time.

I did... There were two fuse/relay panels under the hood (one driver's side, one passenger), and one in the cab (next to the driver's left knee). So unless there's one more hidden somewhere that I missed, I checked them all.

I suppose anything is possible. And fuses are dirt cheap. Might as well give it a shot before dropping a couple hundred bucks at the shop letting them figure it out. I'm trying to do anything short of tracing the individual wires in each harness myself before wasting money on a mechanic. Another question I had is, what's the deal with the big square relays in the fuse panel on the driver's side under the hood? (I THINK they're relays anyway...) Can those go bad? Is there any way to check them? Are they something I can pick up for a few bucks at the local AutoZone just to try?

What he said. I just picked up a 98 SE with 77k on it for very little more than that. I think my situation was more the exception than the rule, but still... I think you can probably find a truck with a lot fewer miles for that price.

Interesting. I take it that it's Nissan's own proprietary diagnostic system then? If that's the case, then I guess it's back to the old drawing board with my electrical issues... Boo. Anyone else got an idea?

I just spent about a half hour under the dash, and I can NOT find the other end to this harness. It's driving me crazy. In other news, I reek of gasoline because either the pathfinder, or the car next to it in the parking garage has leaked it all over the floor. God, I hope it's not mine... Just another thing to add to the list.

I did a google search for "OBD II Connector" and found a photo of a connector that looks very much like the white one (Harness 1), so I think that must be it, since they're standardized. However, I still don't know what the black one would be for, or where it's supposed to connect to.

So, I posted another thread about my new winter beater, a 98 Pathfinder SE. In that thread, I mentioned that it had a few electrical issues. 1 - Cruise doesn't work. 2 - Horn doesn't work. 3 - Dome light doesn't come on when you open the doors. I pulled every fuse in the truck (all three fuse panels I could find), and they were all fine. Today, I noticed a piece of the dash under the steering wheel wasn't attached properly, so I pulled it off, and discovered two harnesses that weren't attached to anything. They don't fit together. However, I have to wonder if one of these harnesses handles the horn, dome light, and cruise module, and if connecting it to wherever it's supposed to go will fix my problems. Here are photos of the two harnesses in question: 1: This one looks like it might go to the ECU. It fits into a little metal bracket just below what looks like an ECU to me. I wonder if it's the diagnostic port. 2: This one has a bracket attached to it, but the bracket wasn't screwed into anything. Can't seem to figure out where it goes. Does anyone have any idea what these are, why they're not connected, and what they should be connected to? Thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide!
