You hit the nail on the head Mr. Pickles my new problem is I have to fix it outside as my boat is in front of the garage and ther is a couple of feet of snow in and around it. Not to mention my garage has my dirtbike in it along with some other pieces from where I started to rebuild it. So yeah the garage is out of the question and the high temp for saturday and sunday is only 9 and 11 degrees so I am screwed.

I will be going the cheap route and buying a obdII scanner from Harbor Freight!!! It will just be able to read codes and reset them.

yeah the damage does not look too bad I am going to try to pop it out this weekend if not then I will get a new plastic peice. I think it would have been a no-fault situation what I mean is both of us would technically be at fault since he slid sideways and was going to fast for conditions, and if I would have hit him I would be considered going to fast for conditions. That is what I think but I could be wrong.

Your right slick time to get teh little sledge, some wood and start banging and hope for the best. Now I have a excuse to save up for a ARB?

Well as you all probably know we have been getting alot of snow here in Colorado. Well the problem is it has not melted so in-turn is has become ice. It has been almost three weeks and we still have 5 foot snowbanks on either side of the neighborhood streets. The real problem is the snow has barely begun to melt the last two days but then at night this water re-freezes and it becomes a nightmare. I had a mustang in front of me last night going like 25. I looked at my speedometer and when I looked back up he was sideways and going like 5. So I had to act fast either t-bone him while flicking him off for being a dumb-a$$ or swerve and hit the snowbank......I swurved (not sure on spelling of swurve) and ended up half-way over the snow bank. So the guy in the stang gets out as do I and I look the truck over and everything seems ok at night. I reversed off the snowbank told the guy he was lucky I did not t-bone him and went on my way. When I got home I got a flashlight to check for any damage. Two days before I had to fix my passenger front blinker as I had plowed through some snowbanks before it had a chance to become ice. Well this is what I find. So it looks like I have something to do this weekend!! I am hoping it might kinda pop back out. I will take some better before and after pics during the day this weekend.

Flooding engine/trouble starting at altitudes
zonianbrat replied to big_johnson's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Let me know what they say. If you wanna stop by for a brew let me know. This sunday might be my last day off for awhile. I am going to be spending the morning bending my bumper out!! fun stuff. -
I voted for the 96-99 pathy and to keep the cats. Although I think I might buy a set then have a custom exhaust done at a shop and possibly put on some high-flow cats and a 50 series flowmaster. Might be a good thing to spend my tax-returns on.

Thanks for the response Marcell, I will pm ya when I get some $$.

Flooding engine/trouble starting at altitudes

Big johnson, Glad to hear you talked to a tech about this problem. I thought that since it was fuel-injected that pushing the gas pedal did not have any affect? the few times my truck would not start only once did I floor it and it actually fire up. I find it odd that you said your truck had trouble starting at a weird angle. See my truck started giving me this problem last year then all of a sudden it stopped and worked perfectly unti one day out of the blue I parked in my yard with the passenger front being up considerably higher than the left front. Then the next morning it would not fire up. I finally did get it cranked and it has been working great ever since. I always thought that bad 02 sensors would throw a code, but maybe they are just not funtioning badly enough to throw a code?? There is a great write-up on this forum about cleaning the Maf. It is really simple, but hell if your in town, just give me a call and stop bye and we can clean the sensors on both trucks and I'll provide some homemade beer. -
Hey Marcel, Just wondering if you will still be able to make "normal" (not for pradolift) skidplates for the R50? I do not see myself getting the prado lift for awhile and I need skids in a bad way. Just curious.

Chris, My truck suffers or suffered from the same kinda problem except it was last year and it happened here in ft. collins same symptoms though. It only happened once this year right before thanksgiving but the weird thing was I parked it in my yard at a good angle and next day it started then died and would not fire but only turn over. I sprayed starter fluid and it did not help. I had to hook up another battery and just keep turningi it over until if fired then then it smelled really rich. So I think we might have the same problem except that I was up in the mountains a couple of weeks ago and it started and ran fine. I wonder if it could be the maf sensor??? This problem happend like 5 or 6 times last winter then this summer I got a K&N cone filter and I cleaned my Maf sensor at the same time so I am a little cornfused. Have you ever cleaned your maf sensor?? -
Ok milehigh so I take it you still have the pathy? If so let's see if it is indeed the t-belt.!
-
I will if the price is right Tyler, hmmmhmmm headers and exhaust or your lift... j/k

I saw that post mz and pondered it but did not know if the t-case was the same on an R50. And skilla I would not tear around in snow in 4-Lo. I got stuck in a 4 ft. snowdrift and I was spiinning all four tires in 4-hi. So I decided maybe I should try 4-lo and that is when the problem happened. Oh and on a side note I got myself out of the drift! but bent my blinker into the bumper in the process.! I do thank you guys for the input. I always tried usiing Neutral first but it grinded so I tried other gears. I did not spend too much time dwelling on it though. Possibly this weekend I will mess with it and try go get it into 4-lo and "excercise" the gear a bit.

Ok I will try to make this brief. We got alot of snow here in colorado in the last few weeks which means I had a ton of fun with the pathy. I put the tranny to the test a couple of times plowing through snow and I had to kinda rock it out once. Anyway one time while I was stuck I tried to put her into 4-Lo. I had the tranny in 1s(it is an automatic) and it grinded, when I tried to shift teh t-case to 4-Lo, then I tried it with the tranny in neutral and it grinded, Then I shut the truck off and tried putting the t-case in 4-LO and I thought it was in but when I turned the truck back on it the t-case was in nuetral at which time I tried again to put it into 4lo and it grinded. Am I doing something wrong? 4-hi works great no grinding, slipping or anything. And yes I am pushing down on the 4wd shifter when attempting to go from nuetral to 4-Lo. I seem to remember last year I used 4-lo only for a minute or so and then had trouble getting it out of 4-lo. Any suggestions???

Has your pathy ever been in an accident on that side before?? Maybe the door needs to be adjusted or "turned in a bit"
-
I live in the on the foothills in Colorado and two weeks ago I got 28 1/2 inches at my house then it stayed cold so none melted then few days later it snowed another 12 inches at my house!! It has been a ton of fun playing with the pathy, pulling people out, getting stuck myself, and pulling and being pulled on a tube behind the pathy. I did manage to push my blinker further into the bumper though.
-
Looks sweet Vsicks!! I wanna new arb bumper. Miine tooka beating this past week after the blizzard. I played a lot and while I was plowing through snow I seemed to push the blinker inside and slightly bent the bumper.
-
What happened milehigh? Last I heard you were going to replace your t-belt. I was willing to help... Did your old t-belt pop?
-
Wow that is some big MPG gains just by a little weight reduction!! HHHMMMM makes me wonder how else I can shave lbs beside aluminum wheels!!! Keep us updated!!

Those look pretty good Killvox!! I like the green trim or bezel thingy. And Jdpathy, It did take some getting used to as far as teh brightness of the guages. You can turn them down ofcourse. I personally like them being bright. I will try again with the night pics, but my digital camera kinda sucks for low-light, I snapped a couple with and without the flash and they just came out looking like crap, you could not see the glow of the guages. I really want to see some pics of your speedo needle being warped. I have never heard of this before ever. When I changed out my guages I had to take the needles off and in some cases manipulate them a bit to get past the stoppers and they are not some cheap flimsy plastic. Is your speedo needle the only one "warping" what about the tach? We need pics and answers.
-
Well I have been driving the pathy around with the new guages getting used to them and final verdict is....I think they are awesome1!! The pics do not reall do them justice as far as nighttime. I snapped some pics at night but they did not come out at all. When you turn on the lights if you have the dimmer switch turned all the way bright they light up the interior. I have already gotten a comment about them and the guy wanted to know where I got them. I do turn down the dimmer so as not to affect my vision!!!
