  1. are you serious? before i swapped mine from an auto to a manual, i hated rocking out of something with an auto....its much smoother with my 5 speed my auto never liked that very much, it would protest and slow shift which is not the point of the "rock out" it needs to be fast to be effective....
  2. after seeing max's subframe out of the truck, why havent more people attempted this? that subframe to be looked beefy, and with a few modifications could easily support the sprung weight of the truck.

  7. i even think the steering knuckles are different for the 2wd. yes, go buy a 4wd truck, it is quite and undertaking to convert yours to 4wd.
  8. well yea taking out the condenser and hacking off some of the front frame horns is one way to help approach angle... sounds promising. I would honestly tear into your truck some more before you start cutting though. pull off your stock bumper, and bracketry, down to where you can actually see frame horns and go from there. the front body mount is going to limit how far "back" you can mount the bumper tho.
  9. hah. no guys dont worry, we did not weld to the springs we were going to be using (we installed SAWs that used to be on my truck) we only needed to weld some plate onto the old stock t-bars in order to beat on them to remove them from the front anchors. once removed we greased up the new ones real good and installed those....

    wow. thats awesome to hear. I am currently looking at the TX10 doubler, like how bgaidan has set his up, so i might be going that route because even with the 4.56/4.6 diff gear combo i will be running, i will be able to have a final dirve ratio of about 76.2 to 1 which is pretty nice. then i can save up for some calmini or AC tcase gears and be much much lower... like 147.1 to 1..... who knows, the possibilities are endless really. So basically i really would be more interested in the upgraded longer (r50) 33 spline shafts. Then just save up for a ARB, but be welded rear till that time comes. so if you are getting shafts made, check for me and see how much extra it would be to make the r50 length ones as well just so i can hate myself for not making six figures.....

    i understand they are stronger than a stock 33 spline shaft. sorry if i came across otherwise. All i was saying was that since i am using a D44 out of a late 70s F150 (HP and 65 inches WMS to WMS) is that i am now looking for a cheap 33 spline pathfinder H233b for added strength, and to match my front axle better until i can build up a 9 inch.

    upgrading my short h233b (59 inches WMS to WMS) to a 33 spline with an ARB and Chromoly shafts??? i would much rather just pick up a newer pathfinder or xterra h233b (which is wider, like 63 inches WMS to WMS) and have upgraded shafts and an ARB.... again i do not have the money to pay for either upgrade right now (well maybe pick up a stock r50 rear axle) but ARB or chromolys will break the budget as of now...

    yes but i forget the measurement of the D44 shafts where they neck down (towards the end near the splines) which is where everyone snaps them. so basically you can only count that diameter since it is the smallest on the axle.... BUT, i am not arguing otherwise just pointing that fact out. and Steve, are you kidding? are you looking into getting some beefed up shafts for your H233b?

    and with the h233b being stronger than a 9inch both have advantages and disadvantages, the h233b has a 9.25 inch ring gear, so what, you cant get chromoly shafts for the h233b (or any upgraded shafts like you can in the 9 inch....) so basically i will state my opinion that the h233b out of the box is a great axle. But once out of the box it literally has very few and still diminishing after market options.

  19. so ive cleaned mine out the best that i can, how do you pull the whole bottom half of the box? is it possible (easily possible that is?) i havent really looked into it before, just kinda occurred to me
  20. I have a front diff here in VA for sale....if your interested, its got the 4.6 Gears in it....
  21. hahahaha oh i wheel it. i got the tires early cuz i effed up two sidewalls on my 31s....currently setting up a D44 for the front end pictures will be posted when finished in the upcoming month or two.
  22. not saying they wont rub, (cuz they do when you wheel it, which i wouldnt advise doing running this setup) but if you are just holding out for the BL till the summer, why not.
