So I've been Driving the Pig that I cant Safety or Insure lately as I absolutely loathe the new pathy I bought from Edmonton. Not only does it have Defensemen Linebacker Fist size Holes in the rear Rocker/Quarter Panels, but as you may have read elsewhere on the forums, it also technically has no 5th gear as I'm too afraid to use it due to the High Pitch Whine I get when putting it in that gear. Putting all that Aside, I'm now having a bit of trouble with Ol Reliable. In the last week or so, I started having trouble with torque in 5th gear. I would shift it into gear, step on the gas, and I would be able to maintain my speed, but my RPM's would rocket up. After a few minutes or so it would magically slip itself into position and then things would go back to normal. step on the gas, accelerate. Now.... Happens in every gear. From first to second, I shift, I get very minimul acceleration, and my RPM gauge will shoot up like I have it in Neutral, but I know Im not cause Im slowly picking up speed. Same from 2nd-3rd, 3rd-4th and so on. Also, Did a bit of testing when this was occuring and Yup, I can smell something a Burning when I rev those RPM's up and leave them at the 4k mark for a few seconds. I thought perhaps it had something to do with my LSD clutch or something sticking but now Im thinking its Clutch or Transmission related.... If i could just catch a break ya know. The Old pig was in bad enough shape as it was with the steering still a fuggered, the alignment completely off, the O2 sensor still not replaced as I havent had the cash to do a Cat and Muffler purchase, The 4WD is basically shot as everyt ime i use it i hear a lot of Banging and Booming coming from the front Diff that I can feel through the floor. And of course that real REAL loud terrible sound I get from the UCA area.... now this... I know what your thinking, Perhaps the fact that I drive it like taht without maintaining it iin the first place could have lead to my current situation, and I say to you good Sirs and Madams.... QUIET DOWN!!! I know I know... Just tell me what's wrong with it this time... Sheesh. :furious: Dowser.....

I'm with JJ on this one. Bought a second Pathy from Edmonton, drove it around in the city, but wasn't able to get through all the gears due to inner city driving. After Purchasing the Piece of Crap, I hit the Highway shift into 5th and WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! Ohhhh thats a bad bearing.... Sooooo I drive 1 to 4 and leave 5th alone in hopes to keep it from exploding underload.... Hasn't blown on me yet and I'm trying to turn around and sell it again myself hahaha Paid 3k for it. If anyone wants a Pathy for 2k send me a PM haha. Dowser

I only decided to read this post cause I saw that Filthy Was the only one that posted and figured it would be a real good send off... Jay, If you take anything from this forums take this. The Search function, when used properly, eliminates sarcastic and discouraging comments directed toward the user who posts the constant onslaught of repeated questions over and over and over about a topic that was answered 2 weeks prior to their asking, to someone else who did not use the search option but was lucky enough that someone answered even though the same question was answered 3 weeks before they posted it.... And so on and so on and so on. Its like going into McDonalds, Standing in front of the Cashier and asking them what combo's they have, when the MENU is right above your head. Adios Amigo.

In your First Picture... that reminds me of this Company i was looking into that makes parts for Heeps. Called 9th degree. They have a Long arm kit that has a bend in the Lower arm like your broken one, but on purpose to give more Clearance. Mind you its Beefy, and they have all kinds of support and what not but That was something I was thinking I'd like to give a whirl if I ever ran into a Ton of money with no place to spend it on. Take a look at thier web site. See if you think it could be applied without too much trouble if your the kind of guy who's going to increase your Arms anyway. Dowser

My Crapini's Make more noise now then when my muffler was broke. They Creak, They Squeak, They Creakity Squeak. So loud now in fact that For a few weeks I was terrified to drive it thinking it was something on the verge of snapping. I'm embarassed to drive in public cause its a head turner but not in the Aggressive "WOW look at that Monster" way... more of a "Hey look at that piece of sh!t truck that guy is driving! hahah what a loser." look. Final thought on Calmini..... NOT IMPRESSED. The UCA doesn't fit The Burly Rancho 9000xs well, Customer service I'm finding out is less then helpful, The Wait times are brutal especially after your initial purchase when all you need are the repair parts, Cost of Product was WAY over priced, They didn't Fit perfectly as I too had to stuff some washers in there to make sit proper, The Upper ball joints they send with them are Garbage and don't even have Grease fittings, and to top it all of.... They are just plain LOUD. Garbage all the way in my books and I feel like i wasted my money 100%. Dowser

Well crawled under the Pig today and started reefing on stuff. U-joints seem pretty solid. the Rear didn't move at all no matter what did and the front moved no more then half a millameter so I'm thinking it's fine. I was playing around with the tie Rods to see how bad the bushings were worn and I need to ask even if it sounds stupid. If your facing the grill, you should be able to grab the tie rod like a dirt bike throttle handle and move it like you would the throttle right? (Yes, I know thats a retarded way of asking but what can I say, its all I could come up with. ) Thats the motion its supposed to have isn't it? My passenger side one has up and down movement as well cause it looks like the boot attached to the Idler arm is sliced bad. But that alone could not possibley be making the creaking I'm refering to. At any rate, still clueless on the problem. I've been looking into finding another Pathfinder here in Alberta but it's not looking so great. Everybody here drives a freaking BIG truck. I'm serious. The truck trader had all of 2 pre 94 Pathies and both were not my taste. oh well... I'll keep lookin, taking suggestions, and driving it till, I'm it's dead or I am. Pez, good to see ya. Sorry I couldn't add much color but It was like 2:30 am and well, I didn't feel like it. *grin* Hope you and Boy Wonder are doing well. Slick, thanks for the compliment on the Sawing job. I wasn't sure I liked it after I did it. I was looking at 88's as a stensile but it never turned ut the same. heh, I'll post a close up of it for you with a day shot. Also, I didn't cut the rear part of the Front fenders Plastic far enough up. I used a lower bolt hole but noticedlater there was one higher up. Oh well, until I get a dremel it stays. Dowser

Well hey all.... Been awhile. Looks like a couple new problems have arised... yup I know what your thinking.... is that possible? Seems so. Well I'm being an ass, playing in the snow in 2wd after a job interview. Wearing my fancy dancy jb interview clothes with the shiny shoes and what not. Spinning all over the place doing doughnuts and generally tearing up the neighbourhood. It's -23 that day and as luck would have it I find myself ended up in a ditch off the side of the road. Classic in all respects as I'm alone, with nothing warm to wear, no shovel, toe strap, winch, or even a cell phone. BUT, I did however happen to bring alone my book of obsenities which I used rather extensively. So the Snows about 2 and a half feet or so and it's not looking good for your Narrator. I pop it into 4wd high, of course after im stuck, not before, cause who does that? I jump out, start trying to clear the rear wheels so I can attemp to move the vehicle enough to engage the 4wd. Now, in case your not familiar with ditches let me explain some minor details as I'm the leading expert in my family. 1) whenever attepting to drive out of a snowy ditch while driving the length of it, you manage only to only increase your distance from the road and further into the ditch. 2) turning the wheel in any other direction other then the one that sends you further into the ditch actually sends you into the ditch further and lead you to point number 3. 3) No matter how many obsenities you shout out while attempting the self rescue, it only further increases your distance from the road. Now that we have that covered, heres the problem. I get the vehicle moving... I'm slowly making progress. I've driven about say 50 yards on a 45 degree angle along side the length of the road. I've had to get out about 20 times to clear the tires so i can reverse as far ans I can so I can gain the forward momentum to get up out of the ditch. This is when i start hearing it... A clunk from the front end and my momentum keeps stopping. So i open the door, put it in reverse and back it up. I watch the next time to see if I can locate the source of my troubles and sure enough, my 4wd seems to be disengaging on its own when under strain. The clunk is the noice I hear right before the wheels give on me. Well hell I say.... no wonder i cant get the hell out of this hole, i dont even have 4wd. So, I'm thinking it has something to do with the automatic hubs. Is this right? Also I'd like to mention that if I'm in 4wd and transfer back to 2wd, if I do not go in reverse for a little to disengage it, i hear some dreadful noises when i hit about 3rd gear. Again, I believe that to be part of a auto locking hub problem. Now thats not it I'm afraid... ohhhh no... thats just a teaser. Since then, I've developed a new more noisy problem. I'm hearing some SERIOUS creaking now on take off and slow down. I can even feel it under my feet. I'm preety sure it has something to do with my steering system as I never did come up with the cash to upgrade it after I put the 3" suspension in. This creaking I'm talking about is LOUD.... I mean LOUD... I find its most loud when transfering from a reverse direction, to a foward direction and vice versa, travelling at slower speeds(first and second). and of course when turning. There must be some serious slack or something in my system. I'm assuming that this is rather dangerous for me to drive like this, but in all honesty, it has to be done for a while longer regardless. If this is something not steering related, like something to do with CV joints or something, please chime in, cause I haven't been able to isolate the creaking as of yet. At any rate, feel free to leave your thoughts. even if its to say "ha ha you sucker, your screwed you dumb ass." And on a final thought, heres a pic of the pig in my driveway here in Dirty Alberta. What a champ. Dowser

Hey Grimgreg, your absolutely right about there being not much to shave on the rear door side of the fender. But here's my thoughts. You know how when you Lift your Rig, your Axle moves forward slightly. After your done raising it and what not, from what I understand, could you not just use longer arms to make it go past where it was stock so its offcenter but toward the rear. Then Shave off more from the rear side instead of the door side? I really have no idea how that affects the stability of a ride, but I figure if you Rig is out of center by an inch it's no biggy. Mine is still offcenter toward the doors after I put the 3"+3" and I haven't noticed any problems. Just curious if that would work out cause thats what I've been thinking I would do if I had the cash to play around a little more.

Well, I am pretty partial to the look of the Xterra for sure. It's a nice looking ride. And the R50's a very nice looking as well. In my personal opinion, I'd way rather look for an older but still very nice looking Pathy, say, 90-95. Sell the Newer pathy as it's value is WAY more, then dump the difference into all the toys, bells and whisltes for the older model. You could throw on all new Exhaust and Headers, New Cam shafts and Polish, Add a chip, throw on a 1"-2" Body lift, Some nice aftermarket rear Springs and shocks, Some new Rubber, and probably still have enough for a Solid axle swap. And if you consider that your willing to dump that much money into an X then you could put a hell of a lot more into an Older Pathy. I'm afraid I would never EVER buy a new vehicle as I don't like the Idea of buying it, driving off the lot and knowing that it just lost half its value. It just can't be justified in my books. Dowser

Hey, Since I'm away from my Rig for the next 2 weeks, and my chiltons with it, I'll have to ask here out of curiosity. Simon, you just said, We have no O2 after the cat. Is it before the Cat? or are things different on your year and they dont have one there at all.

Switches huh.... Check this Sh!t out. Now thats cool. Dowser

Anyone seen where to get those nice switches he has? I took a look on the net and found the standard automotive switches only. Are they for a PC or something or am I just blind. I really like that design, going to need to revamp my own wiring some time. Dowser

I put some 1/4" Doughnuts made from Trucker Mud Flaps for the top and bottoms in back in November and even Drove more then 900 Kms without the Panhard Rod on. Obviously things were sloppy as hell at highway speeds but I haven't had any trouble with them shifting and moving. Also, when I got stuck on that damn Rail road tie a few weeks after, during the whole process of getting out I had my Passenger Side, Ass End, a foot off the ground without and trouble. 88pathoffroad. 3/4" each spacer? Damn, What did you use? That Rubber Flooring stuff you find in electrical shops? DSM guy, When putting the tops in I found it handy to get a little masking tape and tape the Spacer, Isolator Seat, and Coil together when installing. Just put a thin stip on, enough to keep it them from falling down then rip the tape off as best you can later. And Last of all, You could always get the aftermarket JGC that offer a Lift for the Grand Cherokee. Not sure but I'm assuming theres more Coils in that option though. I don't have any Idea if that makes any difference anyway, perhaps someone who knows for sure could chime in on that. hope this is insightful Dowser

I say Spray the whole damn thing with Rhino Truck Bed Liner. That should do the trick and you'll never have to worry about who keyed your car. Dowser

Bah. This seller has set buyer requirements for this item and only sells to buyers who meet those requirements. You are unable to bid on or buy this item because: *You are registered in a country to which the seller doesn't ship. Grrrr. Aggrivating. Now we'll have to see what he says with the email I sent him. Hot Damn, Thanks Rob. Appreciate you keeping me in mind. What timing though. No sweat, I'll just Have to starve myself for a few weeks to make up for the cash I'm no doubt going to spend trying to get this thing. Just the year I was looking for too. the newer ones aren't really as workable. Thanks again. Dowser

What year was the Forest green color 1st available

Vroom VRRROOOOOoooooom.... VRRROOOOOO Sputter, Sputter, Bleh. Pezzy: Damn it. I wonder why it stalled. I'll pop the hood, Rob, You get the Emergency Candle I have stuffed in the back. 5 minutes later. Rob: Well it doesn't look *drip* like its the belts. *drip* Seems like your getting *drip* Fuel. Well, According to the *drip* Farmers Almanac and the Calculations from my Trusty Abacus, *drip* The only thing left to check is your spark. *drip* Ahhhhh heres the Problem. I left a little bit *drip* of Candle Wax on the Spark plugs when we fixed your Pig the last time. *drip* Dowser

As I mentioned once before in another Post, if your looking into purchasing Rancho 9000x (9 way adjustable) series shocks, Then I strongly Recommend that you do not Purchase Calmini's UCA's. The Rancho's are beefier in their design and much thicker then most of the other shocks. The UCA's Calmini sells actually wedge against the shocks at angles and Don't allow for proper Clearence. Obviously due to the fact that they were designed to go along with the Calmini Shocks. Calmini UCA's + Rancho 9000x shocks = :furious: Dowser

I'm also wondering. When I put my 33x12.5's on I obviously had to start hacking the Body up to make them fit without rubbing. But I noticed that in the front fender, the part closest to the Firewall, you can only cut out a small bit before you hit Stuctural Body. Looking at how much room I have with only the 33's in it, Im assuming you need to Cut into the Structural body Part to get those Big Ass 35-38's to fit properly and have a little flex still. Can anyone clarify that for me? If your unsure of what part I am refering too, 88 did a write up on Fender Trimming and theres a photo in there that shows the part I am talking about. I'd love to get a set of those fenders and outfit some more bigger tires. Those last photos looked so clean. No Side Screw look like the other fenders. I'm a little mixed up on what the Fenders from the Last photo's posted are from. He passed on a couple more pictures of that truck. These give a better idea of how they look than the prior one does. thumbsup.gif Picture 1 Picture 2 I think these look great! And since this truck is not running huge tires, I believe that it makes the install of fender flares like these more feasible to the rest of us. Have we discovered the year, Make and Model of the vehicle these flares come off of? Is this from a 80-83 Toyota Helix Double Cab? Dowser

A quick Update. Block Heater Is in. Not the Factory Design though As its supposed to go behind the Manifold Exhaust which as we all know would be like a Huge undertaking. I have about 5 Broken studs last I checked and Probably more by now and those need to come off to get the Factory Version Block Heater in. Went with a Jimmy'd Rad hose kind. I think It'll do the job. As far as an Alignment Goes and getting another Centerlink in, I couldn't get a Centerlink in time for the move. Even at the Local U pull it Wrecking yards there was none there. Sh!t out of luck for a centerlink which of course makes aligning this Bastard a hell of a problem. I got the Toe in but the Camber on the Drivers side is out. I think it read at 118 Degrees when I believe its supposed to be 67. Things are definitely Loosy Goosy though. I'll just have to take Caution for the trip. I'm pretty Curious why the Drivers side Camber is not correct though. Turns out the Passenger side is a little higher then the Drivers, and the Passengers is fine. I'm still trying to figure out why the Drivers side wont Camber properly. With all the Shims out, and about 3/4 of an inch off the Bump stops they were telling me nothing short of lowering the Spring rate would fix it. Perhaps the damage to the Lower Control Arm mount has something to do with it. If you can remember I posted its pic in me BobCaygen Forum. Did all the Oils except for the Tranny due to not finding the right oil. But Have since found a local dealer selling the right stuff. I found one from Quakerstate as a Synthetic in the 1 Litre bottle form. I'll get the Part number and post it in the Appropriate formus later. I cut out the Fenders using 88's great write up on fender Trimming and Cut the Hell out of my Pig. Now that I cut the excess away I noticed that clearance is still not the greatest. I cant cut anything else Either as it would be Structural which I was Highly advised not to cut. As much as I love my Pathy I can really see how Fender Stuffing space is a real concern. It's just not structurally designed with Bigger Tires in mind. At any rate, I wont be rubbing anymore unless I do some good Crawling while Offroading. Leaving in 3 days including today and nothing is open now even if I wanted to do more. The Mechanics were laughing at me when I told them I'm driving it to Alberta. They said, well at leat now you have a 75% chance instead of 30%. Bastards.... no Faith in my Boy. They were poking fun at me also when I was talking to my Juggernaught reassuring him that Cutting his fenders wasn't going to hurt a bit and to be strong. I hope the trip will go well but incase I get buggered I'm sure you guys will get a Laugh out of the Pic of my Monster getting Towed from a Yellow Cavalier. Dowser More to come.

Well turns out it was the Wiring to the sending unit. Once again the guy that I bought it from had fiddled with it. Turns out I had a Little Fire inside my Gas tank. Not the nicest thing to find out. The main Power Line to the sending unit had ate through a budget sh!tty Grommet the guy had on there. Even when I was testing it last night for Voltage I was thinking that the whole thing was looking rather nasty. We went to unscrew the wire and ended up popping the screw right into the tank and the Wire connector needed to be changed. The Mechanic said that the Wire was poorly put back together and that having a fire inside the Gas tank happens ocassionaly but its nothing to worry about as theres no Oxygen to burn in there. Thats when I told him that when I was cleaning off the sending unit earlier I used a cup of water to wash away all the grime and noticed about 12 different air bubble leaks from the seal section. His eyes got a little wider and he said, "Well your lucky then cause things could have been a lot worse." So my Pig is purring for the time being. The wheels are still jacked. Did a poor mans Alignment check and noticed the wheels are off by about an inch of each other. It's a Toe problem and my Tire rods are looking like nothing short of a Torch is going to budge them. Centerlink will be the next thing to tackle but I doubt I'll be able to get it before I go. I have this strange feeling that I may be leaving the Pig on the side of the Road somewhere between here and Fairview. If that happens I'm pretty sure CAA wont tow me the rest of the way. I also took a grinder to the bottoms of the Fenders. Not nearly enough but I at least have about a CM of clearence on flat terrain. I can now turn corners at a crawl and not worry about hitting. Mind you if I go up a curb or something while turning it's not gonna be good. LOL Man, I'm not even Mall rated anymore. With such little time left I'm going to have to just deal with it as it is and hope for the best. I'll just Drive it like I'm making sweet love and hope that I don't slip up while trying to go the distance. More to come on Thursday. Dowser

Heading to the garage in about 30 minutes to try and figure out whats happening. Had to get CAA to tow it there last night. Luker. As far as this move is concerned, It wasn't offical until about 3 weeks ago. Before that it was just talk as The Girl was Applying for several different positions. Most of which were still in Ontario. Since I got Laid off on Thanksgiving with absolutely no notice, My Cash supply has had to stretch significantly. I started Buying and amassing the parts while I was working and was going to put them all on once I had them all gathered, but that Unforgetable Trip to BobCaygen seemed to speed the Process up a lot sooner then expected. With my Front Suspension Shot, I had to swap what was at least broken. I purchaced 33" tires in hopes I would have the other Parts purchased before the installation of them. Perhaps a buit hasty, but a Set of 4 Tires for $300.00 seemed like I should jump on them. I waited as long as posible to change them out but the fronts were so bad they looked exactly like Drag racing Slicks. The Side walls were the only Tread pattern. When it came time to swap I had the choice of either buying 2 more 31's for the front, or getting 5 rims to put the new tires on. As I couldn't see myself shipping the set of 33's to Alberta and the fact that I got the 5 Rims for less then the cost of two 31's the choice was easy for me. It all boils down to Cash. And with Being unemployed, Christmas, 2 moves to generate funds for, and credit cards already maxed, The necesary parts for this pig are just going to have to wait. Going to charge up my account at my Uncles Garage in parts and labor before I go being the Good Nephew I am and hopefully will get things a bit more funtional. So although I knew of the problems with the Centerlinks and so on, this is just how things worked out. Not exactly as I planned as usual. Mookie, heading up the through Canada, up through Saskatoon, then to Grand Praire adn finally North to Fairveiw. I was hoping we might go through the States and drive through Calgary and Edmonton but thats not the case. Although you'll be like 12 hours away, I just may have to come see that Monster Machine of yours. And posibally... yes... thats right. Break all your tools. Heading out to look into parts and figure out whats happening. Oh and simon. Whats the chance I could swing by your place on Boxing day on my way through and pick up the Timiing Belt and Water Pump? lol You don't have to be home or anything . You can just leave it on the front step or whatever. I have a strong feeling I should get a hold of those haha. Keep ya's posted. Dowser
