OK. I'll fess up. I may be a little retarded. Not sure if it has anything to do with being dropped on my head as a child or the limitless drugs taken as a teen, but how in the hell do I use the onboard Diagnostic? In fact Where the Hell "IS" the Diagnostic for that matter. I've only owned this rig for about 5 months now and it of course came with no manual. All I want to do is run the damn thing for the 9 page read out of whats wrong with my Rig, although I am a little nervous about it just saying "Buy another Rig, this one is toast, and by the way, you got ripped off sucker." Try not and make too much fun of me for not knowing how to do this, because I will be signing on under a different login to do that for myself. I can hear it now, "Dowser, You Idiot, Your so Stupid I can't believe your still alive, etc." Alrighty, Soooo, Give me instruction of how to find and use this in a Step by Step format so I can see why my Monster Truck is drinking too much. -alcohol- Dowser

Anyone got any Pics of where they moved their Oil filter too? Is there only one possible option for this or several? And if several any Suggestions since the the Thorley's are going on? Dowser

Is it just me or do the States need to Upgrade the EMISSIONS CONTROL a bit better. One state its ok for anything 10 years or Older? Arizona don't even botter? Geez, I guess it's gonna take a few more Radical and Extremely Violent Natural Disasters to hit everyone hard enough to make them think about how Vehicle exhaust contributes a GREAT deal to weather and Global Warming. Here in Canada I thought our Emission laws were slack, all but B.C's anyway, they are more like California's. Although I'm a Huge fan of the throaty exhaust and tough Red Neck no muffler Rumble, I think having a Cat Converter is At the VERY LEAST a responsible way about going at it. I say Go with a Flow, then dual off if you want, even if you lose a few inches of Flame from your Pipe. Dowser.

My Rig sucks up the gas pretty bad as well. and Lately I've noticed the smell of Gas real strong coming from the back end. I'm figuring it may have something to do with the Fuel pump or something but I get at best 481 Km's not miles before my Gas light comes on. Which I've been doing a lot lately to try and figure out how far it will go. Might be the fact that I'm actually doing that and the fact that I buy the cheapest gas around. Now I have a new list of parts to buy. sheesh. This is gonna be one hell of a parts truck when this baby finally dies. Dowser

All that IP Preformance stuff looks and sounds good. I unfortunately wont be getting a new Idler Arm, Centerlink, and Pittman arm until I win the lottery next month so until that time I'm going to work on the Nickle and Dime parts. Pezzy, see thats more the Price I'm willing to pay, I swear I can spend hours looking for a deal and come up with nothing. I can't figure it out, I type in "Indestructable Idler Arm Brace, M-80 Proof, Hammer Smash Resistant, Kick Ass Nissan Pathfinder" in the google search and come up with hardly anything at all. -alcohol- But seriously, $50.00 bucks is a descent price and I perhaps could spare 88 the bother. And by the way 88, I really like the look of that Idler Arm Brace. Good work. On the other hand, I think that maybe it would be kinda sh!tty on my part to buy a part from a shop now that I've started a thread about Fabricated Idler Arm Braces and I can't help but feel partly responsible for that. So Damn it 88, Make me up a Idler Arm Brace and I'll send you $50.00 Canadian that you can play Monopoly with. If your willing that is. If you refuse on the other hand, I'll have to make a special trip over there just to throw garbage on your lawn though so keep that in mind. sly And while I'm on the subject of Small Fabricated Parts to Save a Penny, I need to Ask if anyone has a picture of the Brace used for the E-Brake extension for when you put new JGC springs in. I'll be needing one of those shortly too. Oh how I love NPORA. And I'll just assume NPORA loves me too. Dowser Let me know if your up to it 88, I'll send you whatever you need.

Thanks for the Replies so far and by the way, no $34.95 + shipping doesn't sound like much your right, BUT your forgetting that $34.95 + shipping of $12.95 and Special courier service for getting over the boarder another $30.00 Equals about $78.00 which of course converts into $90.78 Canadian according to www.xe.com, SOoooo as you can see the price keeps getting higher and higher. I'd be willing to pay for it like I said, just didn't really want to pay that much as I stated. Plus, I firmly believe that one of you Fab Freaks can probably do a better job then some of the Crappy looking things I've looked at. I mean Really, half of them wouldn't even make it through me getting it out of the shipping package without breaking. And I dont want to hear it, people always say its not necessary to open Cardboard boxes and envelopes with a crowbar buy Dammit I'm too old to change now. sly I'll check out that I and P Preformance but I half to say, most of the other companies I've called didn't seem to think that their product would hold up to my testing even. *remembers conversation with sales man* Hi whom I speaking with? Ahhhh this is Rob. Hey Rob how ya doin? Good and yourse....(I interupt him at this point) Ya thats great so anyway Rob, I'm looking here at the Idler Arm Brace you guys sell for a Nissan Pathfinder, and it says here It's built tough. What do you think? Is it built Tough? Umm sure, Most likely. So you haven't personally SEEN the product have you? That was an Idler Arm Brace you said right? That's Right Rob, try and pay attention alright. Ya, I heard you the firs...(I interupt him again here) So anyway you think It could withstand a drop from a 5th Storey Window without denting? Pardon? How about if I put like 30 M-80's around it and lit the fuse? Uhhhhh, are you..... are you being serious? OF COURSE I'm being serious here Rob? What kind of Question is that? Well it's just not something most people ask when they... (yet again interupted) Alright FINE fine, How about if I just smash it with a big hammer a dozen times, is it going to bend? At least tell me that. Uhhh well ya it's probably gonna bend if you do something like that to it sure. See that wasn't so hard. Thanks Rob... Not interested. *click* *flashes out of Daydream* At any rate... Perhaps 88 will have the Answer Im looking for. But if anyone else is up for a challenge I'll even throw in a Thank you Christmas Card or something like that, that way you can brag to your friends about the time you made some loser Pathfinder owner a cheap Idler Arm Brace cause he was too cheap to buy one. Dowser

Hey all you Fabrication Freaks, I'm in need of a Idler Control Arm and looking at Calmini's online it looks simple enough to make. Now I know many of you have fashioned your own out of Duct tape and Staples but this is the real deal here, and only True Fabrication experts need apply. Calmini sells theirs for like $34 buck plus shipping and in Canada, that equals out to a bit more then I'm willing to pay. So the question is, Who's done it and done it good. I'm looking for a Indestructable Idler Arm Brace that can contend with my Abusive and Destructive Nature. I need it built so tough that before i even put it on It must survive my Pre-Installation Hammer Smash, M-80 Fire Cracker Explosion, and the 5th Storey Window Drop Test. This is of course to eliminate any thoughts the Idler Arm Brace might have of trying to become the Alpha Male in this Pathfinder/Driver relationship. -argue- That being said, Who can make one? I wont admit I don't have the ability to do this myself, I'll instead blame it on lack of tools and my need to constantly dominate others into doing things for me. :X Any takers? I could really use a hand here and I'll be glad to pay up and tell all my friends I made...... er, you made it for me. :contract: Dowser

My BFG MT's are Bald.... Balder then Patrick Stewart. And they still preform Decent. Mind you I Finally Got stuck about a week ago so they let me down. pssd No it wasn't my fault because when Im driving all the booms, smacks and screechs you hear are simply just the pathy and parts fault for being weak and pathetic . Now that the tires have let me down I dont think I can look at them the same anymore. It's like when I see a puddle now I hesitate, Get out of the vehicle and look at the MT's. I say to them, "Your OLD, and you let me down. Your WORTHLESS and you know it don't you. I bet that Puddle there is scaring the hell out of you isn't it! ISN'T IT! I can't count on you anymore" Then I shake my head in disgrace and turn my rig around and go home crying the whole way. Personally, I'm saving my bus fair for the All Dominating, Mud Hole Slaughtering, Rock Crawling Menace, The Mickey Thompson Baja Claw Radials!!!Mwuhahaha! FEAR ME MUD HOLE!!! FEAR ME!!! :furious: Dowser

TrailMaster offers a 4" for a Pathy but in my opinion it might be too much. They mention at Thorley Headers that if your sporting a 4" lift you cant fit the headers in so my guess is that it probably makes a few sacrifices on future upgrades. The Rancho's are supposed to offer a 2 1/2 inch lift or so the offer states. But from what I read, throw in some Front Coil Springs from a JGC (yrs 93-97) in the rear of your Pathy and make it up to 3". In the rear anyways Dowser

9 inches... just a few washers should suck that up in no time. Thats what I'd do, Screw the damn bolts, just buy a Box of washers, yeah. In fact, I heard if you use Preformance washers Sold from AC you could get away with only using Half the amount. Really!.. Thats what the sales lady told me. :contract: And at least your not in my situation. Bought this Rig with a 3inch lift on it already and it wasn't till later I noticed the Floor was completely Rotted away right by the Passenger side Front Body mount. I'm talking FULL HOLE here enough to stop Flinstone style. The only Way I could fix it was to Cut a Big piece of Body sheet metal, Hammer it to Fit, Torch it to Fit well, and Rivit the damn thing Right over the Top of the Body lift bolt. This 3"inch lift Is not ever coming off!!! :furious: Dowser

Hey all. Been doing some research and discovered it is definitely not worth purchasing a set of Rancho's in Canada. Most places I've looked sell them for about $125.00 each on average, which would bring the total to around $500.00 - $560.00 give or take with taxes. Now, From what I've been looking at online, Ebay included, I can find them in the states for about $285.00 - $310.00 which converts to about $400.00 Canadian and lower. Now obviously, Since cost is an issue with me I'll be buying them from the states, but from a hypocritical stance all you Canadians should be supporting the CANADIAN economy so Do as I say and not as I do. sly I found a place called http://www.truckaddons.com and they sell a set of 4 for $310.00 + $12.95 handling charge. Grand total of $322.95 or $377.95 in Canadian dollars. I have a friend with an American address that I'll be sending them to and perhaps make a quick drive over the boarder to pick up. I don't plan on declaring them so lets pretend that Cost doesn't exist for arguement sake. sssh I've seen them advertised on ebay for cheaper, like $285.00 but they want $40.00 or so for shipping so not worth the effort. Anyone, What is your opinions. Do you think $322.95 is a real bad deal for 4 Rancho RS9000x? If you can find one better I'd be real happy to hear it. By The Way, Rancho's got a rebate offer right now for $50.00 off your next Rancho purchase if you buy 4 RS9000X's which will make that nice In-dash Remote kit much cheaper. 1 More toy to break down on me and one less reason to get my shoes muddy. Which is by the way, now 34 shoes vs. 1 mud. :furious: So anyway, Lets hear some input. Dowser

When I bought my Rig it came with a Cobra CB. Can't even recall what model or anything but I can tell you one thing for sure. Talk about HEADACHE. Not much but static here in Northern Ontario. I occasionally hear someone talking out there but when I do hear them its like trying to drown out the static just to make out a word or 2. Hell even if I could here them I don't speak Trucker. So thats no help. My 6 foot antenna is mounted on my Spare Tire Bar across the Back. Keeps it out of the way of most obstacles in the Paths path. Mounted on the hinge side. If I could get a bloody camera that works I'd post a pic but your all out of luck till then. When I first go the thing I couldn't figure out why I couldn't hear any one. I spent a good week and countless hours while on the Highways trying to get someone.... anyone... Till finally someone told me channel 9 is for emergency use only and my shouting on the channel "PLEASE someone talk to me!!! PLEASE... I'm Lonely." would most likely get me a fine. :X Thats when I swapped it to channel 11 and WOW tons of uncomprehendable chatter. WOO HOO it works. Dowser.

A quick Update on this BOOM issue. As I mentioned before I haven't been able to get it to Make the TERRIBLE boom noise again. no matter What i do to the bloody thing and believe me I've been trying. sly BUT, I have noticed that it doesn't like to be in reverse much. If I drive in reverse for a little bit, (like driving no more then say 50-60 feet) then push the clutch in, i get a SEMI-BOOM!. Yeah that's right Not quite a boom but a potential boom. -thnkboutit- Something in there is not sitting right thats for sure. It is definitely related I'm sure, seeing how when I first heard the original boom, it was after I had it in reverse. Soooo. It does the semi boom in reverse pretty much every time I drive it for about 30-60 feet and Clutch in. The first time it wasn't when I put the clutch in, but when I released the clutch after switching from reverse to 1st 4- low. Maybe a tooth issue? Maybe clutch is somehow involved? At any rate, just an update, keep the idea's rolling. Going to buy a cheapy 1500 lb winch on sale at Canadian Tire today so I can at least save my sorry ass from running for miles to flag someone down. :furious: Tomorrow I cash my paycheck and put the order in for 4 Brand spanking new Rancho 9000x's WOO HOO! That should at least stop the temporary BOOM from my upper control arms Smashing against something or other. I have so many BOOM's I've Numbered them. When I bring a friend along offroading he's like, OMG what the hell was that? Oh that? that was just Boom #4. Harmless for now. If it were BOOM #2 though we'd be in SERIOUS trouble. Cant wait to get a hold of Precise's new skid plates. Do I hear a BOOM #7??? OH BOY! Dowser

OR... Listen up Jerkoff, Get your lazy a$$ off the sofa and check in with NPORA. Usually we're sick of seeing your incrediably stupid posts spamming the boards, but lately everyone, and I mean everyone has noticed theres been no useless posts and naturally all wondered what happen to you. So do us a favor and you pathetic piece of Sh#@, and either drop in so we can laugh at you again, or let us know you wont be coming back so we can pick on another Dumb Bast@*#. Sincerely. Everyone who has read your posts. You might want to change things a little but thats a pretty useful format.

BOOM! SMACK! Screeeeeeeeeach! Damn what the hell was all that? Oh well, Who cares. I got one of them Invinsible Precise 1 Skid plates, I'm not too worried. Hey Look! A Rock, Lets see if I can hit it straight on! *wakes up from Dream* Ooooh, what a Dream. Or was it? Dowser. So Blue's the strongest eh? Well given my track record so far, best to double layer a blue set for me. But seriously. Nice work man. Not sure where you are but if your not to far into the states Maybe I'll go for a road trip.

Haven't been able to Eyeball the problem yet. I went Mudding today as it was my day off, and finally .....Got Stuck. It was terrible. Like a Nightmare. I honestly didn't think it would ever happen to me. I went trucking down some ATV trail and found a VERY deep trench. about 5 different ways around it from other ATV's all to small for my big Boy. Couldn't turn around either but just after the trench I eyed a place to turn around. So I naturally figured I'd just go through this Deep trench and turn around on the other side to come back through the trench and home haha... Great Idea. Of course I failed miserably, Once again almost tipped it. This time the only thing that was stopping me from rolling was the fact that the mud just out side the Tire rut I was stuck in was touching the mirror on the passenger side. Being the Dumbass I am to I went alone, with no Winch or even a Rope. So, I Locked al my doors so no one would steal him while I was gone, and ran to the Highway Trying to falg someone down haha I suck. Any way, I wasn't able to Make the Boom happen again. and I did a lot of Forward and reverse in 4 Low today. Perhaps because one of my Rear wheels were off the Ground? That being said I'm still hearing a hell of a lot of Squeaking and creaking while It's on rough Terrain. Bushings? Man they are annoying. If I can get it to BOOM again I'll keep an eye on where I feel it and hear it. Thanks so far for all the replies. It's pretty clear to me that I need a LOT of parts to make this guy Run like I want it to. Until I can come up with some more Info keep the Idea's coming if there are more. I need all the help I can get. Or so my therapist says anyway. Dowser

So would you strongly advise some Manual Locking hubs? Like the Warn Premiums and such? And by Manual, that does refer to me actually having to get out of the vechicle to turn them into position doesn't it? Ya, I know. retarded question but give me an answer anyway. The less I have to get out the better because I have a no mud on my shoes policy I'd like to keep up and so far its been 0 for mud, 34 for shoes. Dowser

Hey all. I'm thinking I should be Concerned so I'll just do some quick research by starting here. 91 XE, 4 Door, Manual. Quick back story. Coming home from work, noticed trail on opposite side of road. Passed it so I slowed down, Pulled a U-Turn, but in the process figured I could just go a little past the shoulder into the grass since I am driving a pathfinder. Turns out the grass was VERY tall and that was a LONG drop. almost rolled. Scared the hell out of me. Since I was entering the ditch on a bit of an angle I know if I pressed my luck and tried to keep turning myself toward the road I would Roll for sure, so I did what I had to and Drove right down to the bottom of the Swamp mudd Ditch in an attempt to turn my vehicle facing up the ditch I just came down. Now with this all in mind, I got her in 4 low and everything is going peachy, I finally get it at the staight up angle which is about 60-70% angle (no Bull Sh!t) then start Trying to get up. back and forth, back and forth, But at high RPM's in 1st cause theres No time to shift in this process, till finally I actually "DO" get out! Was so suprised by this. At any rate, that's the back story and it wasn't much later when I went into that trail feeling like a champ that I noticed some new noises. When I put it in 4 low the next time on the trail, My rear wheels where in a deep rut. I stepped on the gas and BOOOOM!! goes something underneath. Still in 4 low and only made the noise once, not a constant noise. Something definitely moves though. I could Even feel it in the cab. I started playing around as soon as I got out of the rutt to try and figure out what it was. Couldn't get it to reoccur on flat terrain but under load it seems to do it more often. Noticing a lot more creaking too from under. Sigh. What did I do to my poor boy. MEDIC!!! Any thoughts or suggestions? Dowser.

Mr. Pickles your making me Jealous. Oh how long I've wished people would fill this rented apartment property with tons and tons of Dirt. I was even tempted to put a "FILL WANTED" sign out on the driveway after the Fully Provided Cable service we pay the landlord for went out due to non payment. :furious: The only thing I found wrong with what your doing there was drinking Bud Light when we all know it should be Molson Canadian. -alcohol- For now, I'll just keep having to go to the place down the road where they store all the sand for the highways during the winter and pretend like I'm supposed to be tehre driving all around their property. sssh Dowser.

Amusing Topic... If there is a point to any of it. *Digs through his Mr. Dressup costume trunk and puts on his Sherlock Holmes hat. * Just thought I'd throw in that in the earlier photo's you are all mislead into thinking that the vehicle turned over is in fact the vehicle in the first photo. But you would be WRONG!!! Yes that's right. Wrong. A keen Eye and razor sharp perception would allow you to see the small details where you would notice that the vehicle in the first picture, is the same vehicle that is pictured in the second, but is missing the Sticker on the Bumper and the right side of the vehicle that the 3rd pictures poor over turned Pathy has. That being said, I have come to the conclusion that not only is it safe to have a 6" inch lift on the R50's, but recommended for daily work driving and trips to the grocery store. :cool2: -alcohol- Oh... and I was originally going to buy a manual 02 Pathy but figured I'd buy a 91 and beat the Bloody Piss out of it instead. Dowser. P.S. This freaky corner of freaks makes me feel freaky myself... :allclean: (can't for the life of me figure out why i put the Bubble bath emoticon in, but I just don't feel it gets represented enough and I've always been one to support the underdog.

Ok sports fans. Its Down to the Wire and only one company is gonna come out this months winner. In this Corner, wearing the Signature Blue powder coat paint job, Meaty Right Angle Steel design, and Rubberized stoppers, Lets give it up for .... CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL-MINI!!!!! And in this Corner, Wearing nothing but his Rugged Stainless Steel, Slender Tubular design, and add on rubber bumper stops, So amazing at lifting that they call him super, Lets hear it for... SUPERRRRRRRRRRRRRR-LIFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT!!!! But seriously. This is a question for all you experienced lifters out there. I've been reading all I can find on both products, and the differences in their designs is very significant. Calmini's Upper Control Arms are Meaty Bold looking and seem like they can take a serious beating. On the other hand I've heard that Superlifts Tubular Design makes it All the more strong and from what I can tell in the photo's, they look like they weigh a few pounds less. My question of course is pound for pound, beating for beating, Who would you put your money on. Try not to be Biased in this guys and gals. Looking for some honest reasons when considering my next purchase. They both look good to me. So lets hear your Pro's and Con's and any other thoughts on the matter. Dowser.

I need to get all 4 of my Ball joints changes as well. Driving them now and they are out of the parameters for a proper safety rating. I too was concerned about trying to tackle this job on my own and have been driving them for about 2 months when I know very well they need to be changed. Cash cash cash has been the issue. As you mentioned the Garages want way more then Im willing to pay for Labour. Mr. Pickle, As far as the Ebay listing is concerned, The sale is only in Toronto so thats only like an hour and a half from me. Wondering though. Is that a Decent Brand to purchase? I haven't added my Suspension lift yet and I read somewhere that later when adding one I might have complications possibly breaking a ball joint or something, so maybe something with a warranty might be better. I haven't done any research on Ball joint parts so really not sure whats out there in the Preformance ball joint area. Any Suggestions? Trail chaser, from your link to that other site It sounds like it could be done in a day without too much trouble. Anything You can through in to watch out for so I'm not Cursing up a storm when I try this? And if you can remember, What was the systematic order in which you did things. I'd appreciate any info. Dowser

Im pretty Sure Safari Snorkel's makes one that would fit a Pathy. I took a look at their Web site a little while ago and you can shop by vehicle model. Don't have their home Web URL handy but look up Safari Snorkel and Australia. No Idea how much it would cost for delivery but they sell for about $350 or so. Dowser

I just did a Huge search on Thorley's cause I just recently replaced my Left and right Y-Pipe. Thinking it over now I should have just bought the headers. And by the Way, You can get Thorley's header in Canada through a shop in Alberta or B.C. theres 1 in Alberta I believe and 2 in B.C. In that way you can avoid the customs rigamaroll. Next, about the studs. Picked up 12 studs myself cause I was thinking of trying to do the Manafold fix at the same time as the Y-Pipe, but when it came down to the moment I chickened out for fear of having the Damn think in the shop all weekend. One, possibly more of my studs are broken and that is a LONG tedious Job from what I've been reading. Now the Studs I picked up at the Official NISSAN dealer and let me tell you... Prepare yourself for needless spending. The studs, Part # 14065-V5004 are 5 bucks a shot and you'll be needing 12 of em. Man... how ridiculous that some studs cost that much... pssd At any Rate, Congrats on the Headers.. and Thanks for the info on the Oil Filter. Thats something I never considered. -thnkboutit- If you pick up the conversion kit let me know from where and how much... Got to plan these things myself. Dowser.

So 3-4 Gallons when the light pops on eh? And according to the 1991 Sale sticker you get about 15 miles to the gallon in the city, 18 on the highway. Since I obviously dont drive in Gallons here in Canada whats the Conversion to Litres... 4.4? I of course know Miles to Km's is 1.6 can't fopr the life of me remember litre's to Gallons and vice vs. By the Way, those figures about the tank info are from a Auto Shops Online "Mitchlins On Demand" Vehicle information On Fuel Capacities. I'm assuming it's right cause they charge a fortune to buy that program. At any rate, Still trying to figure out what the Conversion is since gas Jumped to $1.19 a litre today. yikes. That's over $80 bucks from dry to full tank on a little Pathy.... Sigh. Oh when will they come up with a Hydrogen conversion kit! Dowser
