  1. Rev, Mark has the bungs, just make sure they are careful not to pull the O2 wires when they remove the old stuff. Where are you getting the sensors, I need a set for the 95.
  2. OMG I play with #s all day long and forgot the $200 per sided, that would make the math $960 for a Valve job with JWT Cams. And I still get to do all the labor vs $850 + tax on the 95, 78k motor. If $$$$ were not an issue I would just get a core and build one. Found a hoist I can use for more than a day. I will get her prepped for a transplant this weekend and get the existing motor out and on a stand. Worste case is it will be much easier to work on that way.
  3. You said 10 am???? Call me when you leave your place, Ill be out the door 10 min later
  4. I followed a Chevy POS Cavalier home from Colville(60miles) with those stupid things wrapped around his speakers behind the rear seat in the back window. Clearly visible for all to see and hear his distorted cracking bump. They were ridiculessly annoying at night, but he was doing 75 so I had a buffer in front of me for those vehicals with the more annoying red a blue flashing lights. At the first stop light in Spokane I pulled up next to him, and gave him a good shot of crisp clear Queen, Princes of the Universe. Almost the funniest thing I saw that evening was him turning off his stereo thinking it was broken or what ever. Informed him how annoying his light were, he told me I was #1 in his life with a Bud in his left hand and proceded to race off at the light. I then got to watch some now Pretty red and blue flashing light pull him over -bounce- Just my opinion, I would agree that those lights would have a time and place but not wired into your speakers where everyone at night can see them while your driving.
  5. SS, Stock at 170F for 1990 and later While your in doing the T-Stat I would Highly/Strongly/Over Stress checking/changing the timing belt as well. Especially if you do not know when it was last done. $22 for the belt and I borrowed a HB puller. The T-Stat was how my Project 92XE started. It was suggested to me that I also do the timing belt while I was in that deep. I did not and now have a Pathy set up for playing with bent valves I was stationed at Williams AFB AZ just out side of Tempe, I drove a 82 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 with AC It loved to run hot until we took out the t-stat, then it actually ran normally around town. Ya I was young and dumb.
  6. I will be in town on the 29th....... errr out at the ORV, only problem is it will be in the 95 Clears memory chip on the digicam
  7. $560 for JWT "CAMS", ok, +$200 for a Valve Job= $760 on a motor with 224215 miles, 15 with the Calmini lift. I had actually looked into doing that, have someone here locally that I trust to do the Valve Job. He is the one that suggested the swap, he will also provide 2 engine stands and the hoist for the day it comes out. Dunno, No $$$$$ in the Fun Budget ATM. I thought I was done with the basics until I broke it out having some fun, not going for a simple road test. Another thought was, go ahead with the swap, no core fee, leaves me with a Motor to play with and build as $$$$ allow. Once it is completed drop that Baby in the 95SE.
  8. Ya what ^^^^ they all said. Timing belt, ya that too...........
  9. I had a client who does engine work for a living look at it. He even got some info directly from one of the Nissan Mech's. its all set correctly. When cranking it by hand there is very little resistance from the compression. We re did the set up for the timing alignment and it was even easier to crank. I will get the passenger Head off this weekend but I have an awful feeling its gonna be a engine Swap This would be a perficet time to install some Headers, but I dont think the budget will allow

    rubbing tires

Are they hitting in the well or on the Flares? Like Wheelman said, Check the Bump stops, Add the 1" spacers or go with the JGC springs in the back. -bounce-
  11. I went out and looked at both the engine and the rig it came out of. I also talked to several people about JY engines from this place all said nothing but good things. With having 2 pathy's im not worried about time, just $$$ now, had the budget set for the new tires, calmini lift, Panther skids and a fabbed bumper. I will go back and get a closer look at the JY engine....................
  12. Ok, As we all know, the Timing Belt went BOOM. It is appearent at this time that valves are tweeked :furious: plus what ever else could have broken. I will assume its wasted at this point. :sniff: Rebuilt tranny has 20k miles on it Junk yard heads $130 each+tax no guarantee Junk yard Engine 78k miles, from a 95SE MT, oil@35 psi, compression 165 to 175, Manifold studs appear to be new $850 + a 90 day $$$ back warrenty. Pathy was hit on the front drivers side, frame did not appear to be bent, frame rails/mounts were pretty clean little oil from the idiot changing the filter. Remanufactured Engine for a 89, 300Z and a Pathy Oil pan about $2900 (I will check on this one some more, I will aslo need some help on the research for compatibility VG30E Remanufactured $2900 3.8 ltr V6 VR Commodore engine ??? VG33 ? VG35? Suggestion and Options. Edit added more info on the junk yard engine.
  13. I put in the new Water Pump. No core fee so I have a spare for future use. Double checked all the alignment marks on the cam's, no visable mark on the oil pump housing, removed Plug #1 and verified the piston was at the top with the Key way on the crank almost at the 12 oclock position. Distributor pointing at #1. Slipped on the new belt with Alignment marks matching all 3 points, and tightend the tensioner. Hand cranked everthing around looked GREAT, no funny sounds, all appears to be functional. Put enough of it back together to see if she would Light up. . . . . . . . Nuffin, no back fires, no sputter. Got lots of spark, plenty of fuel. ECU Code 55...............Everything is set up for per the Book, Chiltons and Haynes. Suggestions?
  14. to you on your B-Day -alcohol-
  15. yayayaya, Had Lunch with Revco today, btw Rev, Nicole's friend said that you should work for her twin sister....LMAO
  16. Well someone once gave me some words of wisdom about checking and replacing things while your in there. So I was 10 min to late tonight to get the new water pump. This was the best looking water pump I have ever removed. Fact I do not beleive it had more than 30k miles on it. But hey im there and will not make that mistake 2x.
  17. Basic tune up with a timing belt sounds in order
  18. I got 2 that need bumpers. -bounce- Ill be happy to be a test subject with and with out wench mounts. Reciever mount in front and rear comes in handy. you dont have to pack the weight of the wench around on the front all the time. and if you dont have a Garage to park your babies in, you can take the wench inside
  19. I wanna see some Pic's -bounce- Does the motor run???? -bounce- When was the timing belt changed???? ooooo, note to self to change sig. Will it make it to Spokane WA? (Sees Wife Cringing)
  20. MM, Best I can tell, it went from a little over 2k rpm to dead, now with the road noise, and as fast as I could get it into neutral. Dunno the engine just went dead no noises over the road. Curise Control was on and my first instinct was to get it into neutral, then look for a place to park. I do have a Compression Tester available for use. This is where it stands now: Old Belt (or what was left of it) removed. Passenger Cam aligned with marks on the timing shroud, V-cover off. I am not sure if it is the correct rotation for #1 TDC Rotor pointing at mark inside D-Cap (i did need to loosen the adjusting bolt to get it to point directly there) it did move when I rotated the drivers side cam to the alignment mark. Crank is aligned as well. As far as #1 being at TDC, I am not positive it is set. My best guess will be to remove plug #1 and slowly bring the piston up to the top. Check the Valve locations. Open to suggestions on locating #1 TDC :help: What is the worst that could happen? Engine goes Boom More!!! (make sure extinguisher is available for use) Price Check on VG30E with Thorley's, 300ZX Heads, JWT Cams set to rock and roll for the 95SE, and put the 95's engine in the 92XE. (Having 2 does have its moments -bounce- ) If this was the everyday driver it would have went straight the shop reguardless of the cost.
  21. Ding Ding Ding.......... The winner is............................ Wheel puller will be here shortly. Any Easy way to check for bent valves? Any easy way to remove the drivers side valve cover?? Or do i get to take off the intake and everything else with it?
  22. Whats the cost on the Taylors? Did you have any noticable improvement on performance?
  23. I do not know what I will be doing. I am hoping that I will be able to diagnose the 92 tomorrow afternoon, then plan/schedule the fixing. I am usually good during the week for Coffee/Beer/Food. Granted some good old fasioned wheeling is lots of fun -bounce-
