  1. haven't been able to find a FSM for the TBI motor. theres a knock off version in the sticky's I believe...I have a hard copy that I may be willing to part ways with here soon since my TBI is no longer TBI
  2. Yea if I'm in a shop and see anyone getting reamed (more so females than males though b/c i feel he should know better) I'll interject if I feel they are about to take them on a ride My mom was getting taken for a ride with her brand new heep liberty that left her stranded with 200 miles on the odo and then several times after that...well she fought them for 4 or so months B4 i could go home (about a year ago) and I talked to the shop lead there at the stealership and told him he didnt want me to come in b/c it would no be pretty b/c if i was on that side of the country he would have already gotten a piece of me. So i video'd the cranking conditions and some otehr conditions that were unsafe like stalling and they could not duplicate the problem and erased the SES light...so he gave me BS for like 20 mins and i said well can i go out and show you and he was like yea...so i sit down crank it up and it doesnt do it and he's like see theres no problem and i pull out my phone and saw well check out these photos and videos and thats no problem? would you put your mom in this car? if you say yes i'm going to punch you in the face b/c that is ridiculous...he said hell no So after investigating they had already changed her title over to a different heep that she told them that she wouldnt do a trade on b/c it was a bigger POS than her new one and it was used. I then find out that another manager that she delt with has some issue with me from HS b/c of the girl (really good friend still to this day) that i dated had left "his boy" like a year b4 we started dating so he recognized the last name and dicked my mom over in which he wasnt at the shop any of the time i was in town b/c me and the factory rep along with him were going to sit down and have a discussion...in the end she got to trade her 07 liberty in on a 08 new sebring that was maxed out sorry to thread jack it just pisses me off when people try to take advantage and i guess the moral of the story is my mom knew better and stood her ground and got corporate assistance up in Detroit and they helped her out but if she would have been uneducated/experienced with getting ripped off at shops and stealerships then she would have been taken well advantage of and what pissed me off even more was her health was really bad at the time (still not great) but i was ready to kick some ass and was glad that i was able to get back and make them STFU and do the right thing once they realized they had a huge legal suit coming their way after their fraudulent actions with changing titles and falsifying documents (cutting and pasting signatures from the original bill of sale to an agreement to exchange the jeeps) anywho [/rant] and sorry again for the thread jack
  3. http://npora.ipbhost.com//index.php?showto...429&hl=2800 http://npora.ipbhost.com//index.php?showto...477&hl=2800 hope these help out...
  4. its ok no1 is watching you...It took a while to get used to when I joined the site and was the same way and sometimes i'll read something and then see BJ and be like what ohh ok got it...
  5. hmm that sounds like the typical TBI problem (i think its maf I know theres been tons of threads on it)
  6. no @!*% i ordered chicken McNuggets last nigth and they gave me some QP w/ cheese plain...but the ticket on the outside of the bag was correct...i always check B4 leaving though and the guy was baffled os i was like look dude give me my damn mcnuggets and fries and drink and i'll be out of your hair but yea I don't like to go to most shops b/c well some can give you bad info like one telling me i had a ripped CV boot and I had just greased everything so the upper BJ bled onto the boot i wiped it off with my hand and politely asked him to show me the rip which he couldnt then i politely told him to go fskc himself next time he tries to sell me $600 worth of parts with the BJ case they shouldnt move and if they werent torqued on or set properly than that could be the reason for being loose which is bad right or wrong I donno you were there and have to be the judge of that but from my experience prying with all of my body weight (200+ pounds of it) was not near enough to unseat the BJ being that it sees probably 600lbs at static condition and probably 3-6X that in a dynamic condition not trying to bash but yea I've been in your shoes when they were trying to dick me and then a couple of times when i took it in for tire rotation and they found something that I had over looked and told me about it and i took care of it myself so it can go either way just let them know whats up I had an issue with discount tire the 2nd time around I went there and went there b/c the 1st set of tires (my mud rovers) the balanced perfectly) well I took some whacked out BFG ATs up there and told me that wheels were warped which i knew wasnt true and they refused to spin balance just the wheel for me...luckly the spare was full size so i had them spin it up and it came up to be like 1 oz out no biggie...had them swap that tire to a wheel that was 14 oz out and low and behold that wheel was now like 2 oz out and the tire that was on the wheel that was 1oz out was now like 12 or 13 oz out and the guy still argued with me that i had 2 bent wheels until another tech came over and was like give it up dude this guy just owned you and he's right your trying to dick him...but I will go back to discount tire just probably not that store or at least if its from that store it'll be tires that i purchased from them and not someone elses tires
  7. solid is cool with me if you can make it like 6"-8" tall so it can be trimmed to fit the windshield see my homemade one below: I think this was 6" one and I think the 8 would be better b/c it will let you trim it so that the center is a little taller I wouldnt say we needed to have an elaborate design like mine had (not that that its all that elaborate) but maybe black on white or something
  8. You also have to lower your ground clearance b/c if you notice the movement of the linkages when the vehicle would be at full flex the center linkage would be below the axle (not good IMO) but it does look like on the ranger suspension that they have it so when the suspension is maxed out that it will not protrude below the axle tube but to me it doesnt look like it has a lot of flex available The panhard does a pretty good job on our trucks and I think the time and effort to optimize the watts would be well beyond using the panhard
  9. I bet the cylinder/block is a lot hotter which allows the fuel entering the engine to further vaporize or reach a higher temp allowing for a more complete combustion; thats just a WAG (wild ass guess) being that i never got into the efficiencies of different grade fuels...One potential hazard that will cause knocking is getting into the region of compression ignition or spontaneous combustion because the fuel has an increased temperature but I guess if you can balance out the timing with the ideal temperature of the octane that you choose to use you could increase efficiency http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=142307&page=7 I did a quick search for efficiencies of the otto cycle you may be able to find more information if you want...One big thing to understand is the differences in the ideal cycle and the actual cycle and trying to hunt to find the fine line between theory and reality (as you can see in figured 3.8 and 3.9) P vs T http://web.mit.edu/16.unified/www/SPRING/p...tes/node25.html
  10. never had the problem of them breaking but my 87 hit a deer b4 I got it and the right headlight has all but 1 tab busted on it...i used zipties and duct tape as spacers to get the alignment correct and kept it like that for 3 or so years before finally replacing the unit but I've never had a problem with them breaking... the HB conversion is an option and I'm sure you could make another model light work with some fabrication of brackets and what not if hitting brush and what not is a problem you could also build/buy a brushguard with headlight halo's
  11. right now I have a mail carrier box full of all the nuts and bolts off of wheelman's pathy i've slowly been trying to obtain jars to sort through them but the sorting part takes forever and i'd just rather dig to find what I need right now...but that will change someday and I will just buy assorted hardware and keep them separate from the get go...
  12. or N-PORA but if its a new person I'll explain to them to just google up NPORA and they'll find anything and everything they want to know
  13. well the chance of moving back to NC is looking ok..but theres a guy in NoCal that cant get his 89 to pass smog and my buddy is up there and he checked it out and said its good enough to eat dinner off of anything...so should I picker up and for how much if i'm gonna take her outta state? gyees i hate this pathy relationship...b/c well i cant let her go so I can get my 87 to MPFI and keep the 89 for a good road runnin truck since the 87 is hopefully going to be fender bashing beating fun... damn the decisions and money... OK well it looks like the guy wants $2k for it and its up in nor cal...I can't get it so if someone wants it I can try to get some pix and get you in contact with him...
  14. I don't think thats a good idea plus probably very illegal...maybe add some driving lights...
  15. eh no determination at all...just engineering experience in the automotive world...granted i've run into every road block and problem there is but it will be complete sometime. I think this exhaust routing would take more determination...
  16. dammit i wish I would have understood my thermal fluids class a little bit more...but I guess depending on your assumptions you could determine if it was turbulant or laminar flow but I think the only accurate way to determine the results is either by doing it and testing (which seems to be in progress) or using software simulations like flowworks to study the flow path 100% agree b/c i've been semi-flamed on several boards for putting the 94-95 dash/emissions in my 87 and granted i've run into every problem there is but it'll be complete some day and she'll ride like the best of'em and I like to be unique...no matter how many folks don't like it or think its stupid or a waste of time and $ theres always a few that will enjoy it and follow in the footsteps which is kinda the reason we're all here b/c if we were all into ricing out civics we'd be on a different board...
  17. the light rarely came on and I don't remember how many gallons for sure but it seems like it was 2-3 but after it didnt come on that 1 time I never expected it to come on again but it did 1 time after that but i still didnt rely on it always my fuel calculations and i started giving me about a 10% cushion since I was less than 10 % off when i ran out of fuel...and when I did that I was doing nascar style...i can make it X far if stuff stays the same...well obviously it didnt stay the same and i got worse mileage and i backed the calcs out and it left me within the half mile of where i ran out according to the mileage i got out of that tank I would say don't push it...when you get to 250-300 go ahead and fill up...
  18. yep mine would be down on the E for a while B4 I got a light on both trucks...I think it comes on with like 2-3 gallons left
  19. spring compressors are scary....I borrowed one from a friend and it was almost too short and slipped a couple of times on me...just be careful with them...i knew a guy that had one come off and it took a chunk out of the concrete...he was lucky it didnt pop him PB blast up all the bolts a couple times a day a couple days ahead of doing the work and that should help out a lot
  20. it wasnt that bad in the 95 either...just have a stubby phillips head to get that back screw out and drop the whole fan motor out...it was tighter than the 87 but not that much worse
  21. HAD THAT HAPPEN WITH MY 87...IT TOOK ME LIKE 15 MINS TO DO IT...AND I HADNT EVEN FOUND THE FORUMS YET (sorry about the caps i didnt realize it till i was done and i'm too lazy to fix it)
  22. very true...which is why when i felt mine stumble i knew what was going on and went ahead and shut her down and coasted as far as i could
  23. I was wrong its not quite 22... http://npora.ipbhost.com//index.php?showto...mp;hl=tank+size
