  1. for a spring scale you can go to wal-mart and get a cheap fish spring scale that will be good enough...
  2. JY i paid like $5 for my last one...its got 2 10mm nuts in the door and the linkage...the 1st one took me about an hour to change the 2nd took me about 20 mins...the door lock is kinda a PITA to get in there and i was lucky ot never drop any of the nuts...its awkward but once you get it figured otu its not bad...my hands are way too big to be in that small area...
  3. 87-95 pathy door or fender will work...the HB fender will work but it has a different kick out on it than the PF fender so you would want ot pick up both. I don't know where you are located but if there is a www.pull-a-part.com that is probably your best bet for price if you ever have to replace the passenger side though check what kind of antenna you have...
  4. I don't know exactly...but everything as far as the internals (the gears and sensor and what not) to make an electrical speedo work (with the exception of the harness from the tranny to the cluster)
  5. use photobucket...you upload them and then just click the box for "forum code" and then click back over here and do a paste and your good to go... I'd be interested in a write up on it...i'm in like year 3 of my swap...hope to finish it some day and get some wheelign other than riding around the block once every month or so...i've got a write up on here somehwere on my 95 to 87 but i couldnt find it...i know its on 4x4parts.com too if your interested in that...
  6. if you can get the full harness and dash i'd swap it all over...I was looking at my buddies 01 fronty and it looks like the dash would swap over with minimal modifications...if you have access to that measure the pitch of the glass to the dash and then the side to side dims...or if you can get ahold of the donor truck pull the dash and see hwat kind of brackety is there and see how similar it is to the 89...i'm willing to bet its pretty close to the same...
  7. I think the difference in the tcases is the speedos...95 is electric and 89 is mechanical...if your not in need of hte 95 speedo internals I would be interested in purchasing those off of you...i'm in the market for a 94 or 95 TC (i'm @ 93505 not sure where your at)... sorry thats not a lot of help but thats about all i know as far as differences are...
  8. One thing i goofed on my 95 was the location of the whipper on the carrier... so I had to open the tire carrier to open the back glass...If I ever get back to that truck i think it's going for the roof rack or cowl with a dual setup...my 87 didnt have a carrier and i just got a ball mount (then converted to an angle mount)... I routed with existing bundles until I got up to the drivers seat and then I shot it across to where the center console and under it then under the shift boot and to the CB mounted below the radio Here is where I installed the CB in the 95
  9. have someone check out the CV's...its possibly the auto hubs that are bad...if the cvs are turning then its the hubs...make sure the screws are still good for the shifter for 4wd...b/c i seriously doubt the TC went out without you noticing
  10. i dont think the wiring is an issue at all...the only issue your going to have is the speedo unless you swapped over the TC (assuming its 4x4) the only thing you have to do is short the interlock for the start in park and I believe thats about it...
  11. haha dude I live in Cali City...(on the other side of the hills on 58) i feel your pain on the heat...now i really wish i had a running pathy here b/c your close enough to do some wheeling
  12. Helicoils are as strong as the material they are in...if you drill out a hole and retap it for the heli and there isnt enough ED (edge distance) it will just crack over time... The helicoil is stronger than the alumunum but the tension is net b/c the strength of aluminum is the same and it is the limiting factor... i'd say call up your local mechanic and/or machine shop and talk to those guys about it to see what they reccomend...but you are going to have to pull the head...I wouldnt do any drilling/tapping on the engine without running the head through a parts clean cycle b/c the chips will prpobably not be healthy
  13. Looks good...any notice in heat change with the 2 mufflers in the same area on the floorboard?
  14. I havent ever been able to pull an engine (2 MT's and 1 Auto) without dropping the front diff...the last time i tried it i tried to let it half ass hang and it still didnt give me room over the pan then I ended up dropping the diff on my finger and going to the ER...no fun
  15. Hey guys I had a thought today in that the speedo sensor is in the Tcase so I can buy a Tcase pretty cheap (compared to a whole tranny) to salvage the speedo gears/sensor out of in my 87 (since I need the electronics now and not mechanical) I just wanted to verify thats where its located in the 94 or 95 MT Thanks
  16. Sorry to hear that...Sometimes for the best though...We had a lil terrier that was always sick and my mom didn't have the money to pay the $XXXX bills so one night I happened to be home from school and just made her stay in the lobby so the vet could do their thing...she got another dog there soon after and she still misses the old one but it was good for her and helped her heal up
  17. mine is a manual and there was a plate that was undrilled so I drilled it and put a grommet in there and slilconed it up for my amp wire and ran it over to the driver side pillar and ran it with the main harness bundle and tie banded it off and took out the spare tire and mounted the amp there and got a full size spare to throw in there...(but yours probably has a tire rack so you dont even have to worry about that...
  18. I had my dash out and it was still a huge PITA which is y i left my 87 evap in instead of swapping it to the 94 that I had on hand at that time...its not going to be fun but I couldnt really figure out a good way to disconnect all of the cables without just pulling the dash out 1st...but pulling the dash easy and takes like 30 mins or so...
  19. Just a note up and to the left corner is FWD
  20. Must have an auto...I dont think i've ever seen a MT with a dipstick...
  21. whats a Jake Brake for? (or in the pathy down shifting) I know my pathy parked on a hill wont come out of gear without the clutch in...now on flat ground sure...but i never really thought about the engine loosing compression to allow it to roll down the hill so thats a very valid point and explains y my aunts car did a run away (the e brake was set but I guess not adjusted correctly) luckly it stopped on its own about 2" from a building down the hill across a street and all that fun stuff... I would think that the Ebrake could be fixed using a home made rig for at least temporary purposes using turnbuckles steel cable and those crimp blocks (forgot the technical name)
  22. I'm pretty sure its brazed onto the evap...its a bitch and a half to get to...you pretty much need to pull the blower motor dash and then disconnect all the levers and all of that jazz then pull it out...its a royal PITA...
  23. sounds like the clutch getting worn to me...b/c I dont see the a "slight" incline being able to turn the engine over if no Ebrake is applied
  24. I donno about throwing ATF in the engine...but you can try it and let us know how it goes...I had a buddy that had a rodeo that had tapping lifters...he'd throw in like a half a can of seafoam at every other oil change and it wouldn't ever tick...the other half of the can he threw in the gastank...
