  1. It makes it easier...easy enough to be at TDC...I think it sucks worse that you have to take the intake off...
  2. Yep...after 2 years ago in moab I did that...currently on the ole lady's truck...I bent an idler arm...idler arm brkt...pitman arm...3 center links...and about a dozen TRE's in 3 days of what id call light/medium wheeling in moab The pitman arm gusset is too close to the tre so its ripped the boot but its all good for now...I'm sure they will need replacing as soon as we get on the trail
  3. I've never broken or damaged a box....heat can damage seals
  4. The exhaust was the cheater bar...and all my tools... U can kinda see where I was hitting Don't mind the grinder marks...that was for this...the marks I'm talking about are on the pitman on the top right side of the boss where they broach the splines The grinding was for this
  5. Never successful with a puller...PB blast it...I used a pipe wrench and cheater piped to get the nut loose...then I hit it on the side of the pitman with a 3lb sledge until it breaks loose on a 15-45° angle down on the side of the arm...leave the nut on the bottom 2-3 threads so u don't hit herself when it breaks free and resulting in a broken shin or foot....I can get them off in less than 5 hits...leaves a flat spot(s) but doesn't bend it as long as u hit it as close to the gear box as possible
  6. Almost looks like 1 of the 2 plugs my 87 had...I'll see if I can find pix
  7. By flood lights do u mean the hella's BC I welded those brkts to the brush guard or the slots in thelate models where the fogs mount? I remember having to pry everything apart to get it in the bumper and scratched it all up...I ended up pulling the bumper to do it and leave the bottom bolt in BC then u can hook it over and then align it and tighten up all the bolts
  8. I put one on my 87 and everything was good to go...got it from a 93 or 92....but the front end is the same as far as the frames go...just a different bumper
  9. Well...its no longer its but not quite SAS'd...I actually put them on the ole ladies truck and rebuilt them so once I get her engine back running we will see if the squeak is gone. But yes people were always looking...
  10. So this is what squeaky UCA bushings sounds like...
  11. I took the easy route and just swapped the harness and everything over
  12. First 5 mins of a start up or so should run from a different program and omit all emissions sensors...after that then it goes to readings...when I did my swap I struggled with that at first
  13. Yep...I did That with washers...my pins were worn from a really crappy set of tires that had a bad belt in them...they were brand new but I didn't buy them so the warranty didn't transfer but long story short I had to do the same thing...my tell tell was the horn/cruise and all the copper dust on the steering column
  14. Sounds like a year mix up ..5 holes vs 6 holes? Where it mounts to the front diff? Also the shaft diameter is slightly different so make sure there isn't slop there either...newer CVS(5 holes) won't go into 6 hole but will go the other way and will be detrimental...not to mention the hub spline count will be different too
  15. Cut and replace...don't yank it bends/crushes the tubes...worm or constant torque clamps r much better than the spring clamps and new hoses r easier to get on...insert needle nose players and stretch before reinstall
  16. 10mm brake line wrench...if already rounded off then vice grips....
  17. As others have said it should be straight...I've bent quite a few and welded angle iron onto it and no more problems...here is the last one I did
  18. Did it in my 87 with no headliner but shouldn't be different by much...prob the only pic I have And as u can see I didn't pull the extra xmem....Its stamped and sturdy enough...I may have did some other rigging but its been there for 6+ years and no issues
  19. Cool idea...i wanted to do.a belly up.kit but never got around to.it...takes a 3" bl...basically i beat the crap out of the TC bc its below the frame
  20. Yep...easiest way is model in cad if you have the material density then most cad will output one of the moment of inertia...hand calcs r possible too...roarks stress and strain should have it in the tables
  21. Ill trade his human error for mine...in the end its reparable and no1 got hurt
