  1. You know I had totally forgotten about how irritating of a sound that bolt makes! that mounting tab is on the oil pump, and on my old engine it was bysted just like in the picture, which allowed it to bend and ride agains the HB pulley!
  2. I had some tap a little in the old engine... it was noticeable but not extremely loud (nothing like the Subaru tick ) Along with counting TB teeth... If you have a Stethoscope listen to each lifter and see if you can pinpoint where the noise is originating from.
  3. Issues like that drive me nuts... but that is good info and thanks for sharing! *Makes mental note to check relays
  4. I have to agree with MWS on the Taurus fans ability to suck When my fan clutch finally goes out, my Pathy is getting the 3.8L fan setup. I had a 3.8L fully loaded '88 Taurus (which I bought wrecked and rebuilt the front end)... god I miss that car :sniff: Anyway, I "made due" with a 3.0L fan (and radiator) until I finally found a 3.8L fan/rad in a wrecking yard. The 3.8L fan moves air, no if's, and's or but's about it
  5. I have kicked around the idea of rebuilding... and building, the original engine, but it was the lack of a crank that stopped the idea. If you have an extra, I may very well be interested.
  6. MWS, replace those keys ASAP... that is what did my original engine in. Both the HB and TB keyways rounded! My Crankshaft:
  7. That is the AC kit.... someone IS going to tell you this, so I guess it might as well be me. SEARCH this forum, there is a TON of info on this. And this has been covered soooooo many times. If you look through RECENT posts you will find info on it. Search older ones and you will find so much your brain will overload! Bottom line, please do yourself and all of us a favor and read a few posts before posting a question.
  8. Yeah, good question. I wonder what this means and what it means for the future.
  9. This requires the standard reply of "SEARCH" *That is what I would have to do anyway As I mentioned it has been covered many times *BTW a pic or part number is not going to help, you need lenght and thread detail to get the right ones... if you have a bolt specialty company nearby (here we have Tacoma Screw), then take the bolts needing replaced in and tell them what you need in place of them.
  10. You could try selling the ones you do not use
  11. It's been on the board.. not sure why it was a huge secret
  12. If you do not want to deal with AC then call a local off road shop.... AC does not make the one they sell. I got one locally, it's made by Performance Accessories which iirc is what AC sells. As covered MANY times on this board, the only difference for the newer models is the bolts in the back. And if you really look you CAN find them else where. AC does not make the bolts, which means they get them somewhere... and if they can get them, then so can you. *Really you don't even have to call a local shop... the one I delt with simply drop shipped it from PA right to my door
  13. The autos are good enough as trail spares... if they fit the early ones you should sell them to me Both Warn and SW carry lifetime guarantee's
  14. They are 30some bucks at schucks here I found them another local parts chain for $20
  15. Yes, same thing up front Just call and ask for complete (including hardware) UCA's for a Hardbody. Don't get the complete lift or you will have a pair of rear shackles that you cannot use and a slightly lighter wallet
  16. Yes, you will need enough extra oil to fill the new lines and the cooler (and relo if you add that too) .. otherwise once they are full the engine itself will be low. Check the oil several times after you fill it, because as the oil moves through the system you will likely have to add more until every thing levels out. Once you do that then you will know how much to add in the future.
  17. Be very carefull with that, your crank angle sensor is housed under it.... you do not want to damage that $$
  18. meh... don't know what I was thinking BUT, at least know he knows
  19. Gaskets... as a rule, if you remove it you need a new gasket (or sealant) for it You do not need new valve cover gaskets unless your are truly toast... they are made of rubber and are reusable. You will need "at least" throttle body and intake manifold gaskets Look through your manual and get completely familiar with he process before starting. This will also give you an idea of what exactly you are going to need. How long has it been since you changed the coolant? If it has been several years, or you don't know then it's time.
  20. I just had a similar problem... take k9's advice first then if that does not lead anywhere, take the starter out and have it tested. I ended up having to replace mine.
  21. I have seen one or two in wrecking yards now that did not. I was originally told by a long time Nissan tech that he had also seen some that did not have the panel.
  22. Yeah in the tank and SteeveO is right, there should be a panel under the rear carpet that allows access to the pump... though "some" don't have them (panels), it seems that most do.
