  1. ANYWAY...... Dutch automaker renews Saab bid
  2. 33x10.5's BFG MT KM's to be specific *moving this to the general forums since it's a general question covering all year ranges
  3. With a little luck, no debris made there way into the steering box.
  4. Really? http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=24903
  5. Thanks Jim We never did seem to be able to be available at the same time so we could transfer the domain... but this should work
  6. A subject that gets covered nearly every winter and some times in between too. *Buy new struts (check www.rockauto.com for good prices) *use a broom stick *pair of vice grips on one of the strut rods once up *open the window before the hatch door (it counters the weight of the door) *some others I can't think of
  7. Just adding a shot of another R50 with the snorkel installed. *taken from 4WD Systems site*
  8. Unknown steering problems causing 3in of play and your driving it? *sigh*
  9. With all the talk about making sure the belt is tight, I wants to mention that you need to make sure that it is not too tight either Follow the spec for installing it There has been some talk about the effects of the belt being to tight. A few of us think that if the belt is too tight it can lead to breaking the RH Camshaft. This happened to me once, it also happened to MaritimeMan and iirc one or two others. In each case the CS failure occurred within 6mo of the T-Belt change.
  10. Yeah your right Dowser, this has been covered many times before. And is talked about every so often. It's been proven time after time that no matter what Nissan's literature "says" came with certain trim levels on WD's, the fact is that there seemed to be little method behind the model madness. There are lots of XE's with more options than some SE's and there are SE's with options that many claim only came on LE's. An example is my SE, it was missing several options that are common on, and many claim, all SE's got
  11. Welcome back and congrats on the new addition The old posts are still here Try and remember that a theme that brings back the old look and layout, was added as an option
  12. Found one in the wrecking yard a month or two ago. As stated, there were some '90 2Dr's but most were 4Dr's. The limited number of 1990 2Dr's were the only ones we got with MPFI in North America. In other parts of the world the 2Dr configuration ran for several more years.
  13. Almost a year? *BUMP* again for newer members
  14. Since this is becoming yet another debate on CATs in general, lets clearify for the original poster Yes, by law they are required even if you are not required to have emissions tests
  15. So a C or D is "good enough" when with a little extra you can have an A? I don't know the exact specs taken into account for the emissions standards but given that they cover a wide range of vehicles I would imagine some meet those vehicles do better than others. Perhaps the VG30 ("e" in Jared's case) are cleaner than other is the same group. I would bet that our i's are not as clean, so if the standards did not allow for a range of them, then one of two things would happen. Either we would not be allowed to register our vehicles after a given amount of years/miles or the Clean Air Act would be a FAR larger document, so that it could set more detailed standards across the industry
  16. Jared, "required" meant by law and if it is visually inspected and they noticed that it is not there... not that it would fail the actual test if it was not there. That really depends on your engines condition (but the odds of passing a low at best) From what I know and have read they are required to be there... passing a test or not, IMO it's not worth risking the fine. It's also not worth the damage they help to prevent either
  17. All I have done with the PS on the Pathy was installing extended lints after the body lift, but I installed the complete system on my Yota (it was manual originally) and as others have said, there is nothing to really look out for other that frozen fittings/bolts
  18. From the EPA Clean Air Act (Enacted 1988) Again NOT the poho.. contribute or move along please *post removed*
  19. Generally if not universally here in the US, if it came with it, it is required to have it.... especially in regard to emissions equipment. Yes you are required to have a CAT on an 89 Pathfinder. If you are caught without it, then you can be fined.. and iirc the fine is not a small one. I want to say that the law about removing and the fine for doing so, is federal and not a state thing. the it's 20yrs and they only require them up to 15yrs is about testing. But you are still required to have all smog equipment it was equipped with new. There is at least one member here who will say that you'll gain noticeable amounts of power by removing it, but there are more here that will say its BS, that any power gains are negligible... and I fit into that group myself
  20. Nunya... in the spirit of automotive forums, it's about saving a buck and doing it (as much as you can) yourself
  21. If you need a locksmith to make a copy from the broken key (don't have a spare?) you could just let them remove the broken piece while they are at it. Just remove the cylinder assembly and take it to a locksmith Also, when you have it out, check to see if there is a hole on the other side that you can insert a pin or something to push it out. I don't know if there is one, but it can't hurt to look (and hope)
  22. Yes that is the Canister, but are you positive that the gurgling is coming from it and not the AIV, the thing in the lower right hand corner of you picture. That is, in my experience were a gurgling sound normally comes from. They often rust out, due to the exhaust gases that run through them. Run along the outer edge of it and see if it is solid, by the pic I can see rust on it already. Check along the bottom of it a little extra, if it does have water in it, then that is where it is likely to rust the most I've replaced mine twice with wrecking yard units (and the AIV Case, located behind the headlight once) Both times it was gurgling.
  23. I know you've already sold the NOS, but just to offer a supporting opinion... I feel you did the right thing and agree with those who suggested selling it and buying pars for your truck. A locker, as 87 suggested would be a great upgrade
  24. Phil has not done a thing to correct the situation. After another member here (Trailchaser) fixed it for me I offered Phil (via PM and messages on his answering machine) that if he reimbursed me the costs associated with it's repair (which I would have passed onto to Trailchaser as an extra thanks) then I would call us even... he has continued to ignore me as he has been doing since well before that. Thanks for the offer, but it's been fixed and installed on my truck for a long time now. Trailchaser reworked it for me two years ago this month I installed it right after I got it back and it's been working great ever since (even laughed at a hard hit on a rock that took out a wheel during the MrJim Run at Tahuya)
