  1. calmini lift is NOTHING like the TM lift...The TM lift works, by dropping everything down 4", whereas the calmini has it all in the same spots, but just pushes it down further with UCAs and Springs...
  2. well, i thought a little, and hypothetically, you could cut a hatch in half, just below the window, then seal each side of that cut, and put some weather stripping on it... and then take OUT the current latch, and put two je** wrangler tailgate hinges on the bottom somehow, then use hardbody latching mechanism.... Id love to do it, but unfortunately I don't own a welder anymore But hey, who knows, maybe someone else, or maybe me, will try it one of these days! Would be pretty cool though...
  3. if your having issues with it, a manual one from a jy shouldn't be too expensive.... I prefer them personally :\
  4. Anyone ever heard of a pathy owner, converting the rear hatch from a lift gate, to; the bottom dropping down like a truck, and the top lifting up still? I just thought it would be perty sweet, it would give you a comfy place to sit, and make it a little more useful for stuff like lumber, and all that jazz
  5. although theres alot of info on this, ill sum it up. If your looking for a 3" sl, then you will need to do either one of two things- TM Lift- Uses drop brackets, and lifts 4" SL Kit- Uses Modified Upper Control Arms, and a cranking of your torsion bars, for the front. Then uses some sort of new coil in the back, to give a max of 3" Calmini is supposedly the more heavy duty brand, they use stiffer springs, and more robust UCA's, but some dislike them
  6. the best shocks, are the shocks that come free with UCA's
  7. Yeah, they are 3" RC XJ lift coils Im headed to the dunes for a few days next week, but im hoping to start my job, and get summore parts within a week or two of that
  8. call a small, local, offroad shop, and ask for a price on a d21 2.5"-3" lift kit from Rough Country This gives you the front suspension stuff you need, and i can get one around here for 205, with a new set of performance shocks. You throw out the stuff for the rear lift, and get a cheap set of coils.
  9. Does the TM lift drop the diff and cv's and everything? i thought it did...which would make the cv's at no worse angle than just UCA's with torsion bars
  10. So he could do TM, UCA, and BL, and get a total of 10" of lift, and if its a trail-only rig, with some beefing up of a few parts, i think he could run atleast 34's or 35's, without REALLY putting anything at risk... 35's would guarantee about 18" from center of wheel, and idk distance from center to bottom of pumpkin.......ill go with a safe bet, and say 5 inches..... so that gives you a minimum of being able to cross a 13" tall rock in the middle of the trail, without hitting anything, or rubbing anything :-)
  11. He said they are listed @ 265, but he would sell them to me @ 205......hopefully ill be buying these by the end of the month.... Anyone else get the kit & choose hydro vs nitro shocks?
  12. Yeah, but aftermarket shocks would be more effective, as they aren't all worn out I got quoted that....April 23rd I wouldn't imagine its changed much since then, and the guy who quoted it is very consistent with his deals
  13. Coolio, i may just invest in that then......its the 25 bucks for mount and 18ft of wire thats gonna kill me :S
  14. You know, if you go to a smaller offroad shop, they can get you the RC uca's for 205.95 including a full set of shocks, IIRC the hardbody shocks will work just fine with ours (?) and if you factor in the cost of four brand new, 3" lift shocks, thats atleast 40 bucks a piece, making the UCA's a really good deal! especially if you only need the shocks, then you can sell the UCA's for atleast 100, and get your shocks for 100 bucks!!!
  15. see, this is why you get the cheaper Rough Country's, and get free set of shocks with them Do you like the nitro? i can get either nitro's or hydro's, but idk :S
  16. this same situation happened on my pathy years back, idk what we had to do to fix it, but it cost 150 bucks in the end
  17. But, i mean if he has the drop bracket kit on now...couldn't he put aftermarket UCA's on, then crank the torsion bars? or am i misunderstanding how the TM lift works
  18. But the xj 3" RC coils, will provide 3" of lift over stock? gotcha.
  19. I know i have tranny issues.....so maybe i should get that looked at.......
  20. Im not too sure yet, but when it comes time to get a drop bracket, i think it will be cheaper to have a local shop fab one up vs paying for a blue one...they can probably beat 75 bucks, maybe even below 50
  21. Oh, Its not hot air....the t-case lever is physically warm/hot, and the actual plastic and carpet around the tranny bump is the same O_o But the rubber boot is torn a bunch...but i don't think thats the cause....but now that i think about it, i guess it COULD be letting air circulate in
  22. Is there any special thing i should look for? im getting a pair of XJ 3" lift coils, i know they are RC, but donno bout any other stats and will they get us up to stock from sagging? or 3" above stock? i got a little confused while reading your posts O_o
  23. But if he uses aftermarket UCA's with the TM drop-kit, wouldn't that be the same as if he used them w/o the drop kit? which would give him more clearance from bigger tires, and a higher body?
