  1. on long drives, my tranny gets so hot that the tray where the e-brake is, gets hot to the point it heats my ipod up.........maybe i should get that looked at
  2. I kinda agree....atleast, thats what I would personally user vs the others....tig is a little more difficult and like he said, the precision isn't really needed....stick is nasty and could blow through thinned out frame.... Show some pics when your done
  3. Yeah, so im thinking about just grabbing some rivets, and then fiberglassing over them
  4. If you ever get a chance at a tig welder...GET IT.....its so much more fun
  5. and fill er up! i read somewhere that a full tank of gas is less likely to catch fire than one party full, as only the vapor ignites.... But if your doing tig, you shouldn't have any issues (relatively low temps outside of the weld point) as far as gas goes...depending on how your fixing it, you should be alright...and just about the same with mig.... I however, wouldn't suggest oxy-acetylene for obvious reasons
  6. What kind of welder will you be using?
  7. Aren't you worried about snapping your firestik off on the trail?
  8. apparently, they are pretty dangerous once they get goin...one guy said that his has cut clean through branches before...... It also apparently completely overpowers other antennas..... The only reason i was interested in it, was because it wouldn't really need a spring (save some cash) and it could get one for 20 bucks from radioshack
  9. Its called a twin stick.....it makes it so you can shift the front wheels into say...4hi...while putting the rear into 4lo.... if im not mistaken :\
  10. the one issue i'll have, is i don't really have a welder O_o but from when i worked @ a local offroad shop, and had my grandpa in town, i learned how to weld tig and mig and oxy-acetylene...so if i can get someone to lend me a mig..but i was thinking maybe do the car battery stick weld, then grind it smooth, and bondo/fiberglass it all pretty
  11. how did you make the top of the door? just tack weld some sheet metal?
  12. my sedan would wobble like crazy all the sudden a few weeks ago going 70....found out there was mud caked on the inside of the wheel....just sayin As for the brakes, if your pedal throbs, and you wobble a little, it could be a rotor
  13. I think ill go lower with the frontal part of the door if i do mine, vs 87, cause 87 is bigger than i am (taller) and in the pics of him driving, it looks like its a real chore to lean out of his half doors...
  14. shameless plug worked!
  15. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wc...07_488773592___
  16. i thought all wranglers and cj's were allowed to run doorless, due to the sill lip, mirror attachments, and the fact that they were intended from factory
  17. So the actual plastic housing wont fit? reason being, if i can get the fender and airbox, i will rig up a snorkel, cause im not allowed to cut into any parts that would be required for resale.....
  18. So while im looking for said parts, will say...an 87 2dr set fit my 91 4dr? it has the 4cyl, i have the 6cyl...
  19. well I was just informed that my local 4x4 clubs have boycotted the 102" whip.......so i guess i'll have to go with the fiberglass then :\...radioshack.com here i come
  20. id imagine it also depends on the type of trailer, the type of cargo being hauled, road conditions, terrain...etc
  21. agreed.....you could haul a car with a bike going down a hill easily...but you won't be able to stop it..... and yes. my uhaul is run by descendants of hitler and stalin.
  22. Well, your CAI will give you better gas mileage, and id imagine refreshing everything like you said...plug wires, headers, performance exhaust....will give you better gas mileage, and should give you better responsiveness and performance... But, the more electronics you have, hypothetically, the more your alternator will need to work, therefore more gas usage...hypothetically of course....
  23. yeah, my plans are to keep the outdoor handle in the same spot, and put the usually indoor handle embedded in the sheet metal that will be the armrest surface :-) incase i get those canvas covers, i wanna be able to open the door still :S
  24. Well, im not gonna get new tires till i lift, and this is mostly for the purpose of replacing a body part so if it DOES get damaged, it will be on that instead of a good clean door.....And i figure hey, while im at it ill cut it up Not too worried about side impact, but who knows, maybe ill reinforce it with some tube INSIDE the door O_o If i end up buying this popup for 150 bucks, then ill skip this mod
