SC88Pathy

Apparently some early two door WD21's came without backseats and vinal flooring in the back... I'v never seen one though.

Well I just saw a picture of a Pathy with a propane grill mounted in place of the spare on the swing out carrier in the October edition of Four Wheeler (right above the picture of Vengeful!). Maybe Dan saw it in person and can give some more details on how it worked...

My 88 auto hovers at around 2500 at 70 and a bit over 3000 at 80. Of course 88's don't have over drive so a 91 auto will probably differ a little...

By "dancing" did you mean the rear end swung out? If so that's because Pathfinders are rear wheel drive and have completely different characteristics than a front wheel drive protege. If you accelerate too hard in the wet while turning your rear end will slide, and if you accelerate way too much you could end up spinning out. This will be further amplified if you have the factory limited slip differential (did R50's come with an LSD? I'm not sure) Once you get used to this it can be a lot of fun, but until then be very carefull when accelerating on wet pavement. As stated in previous posts don't engage 4WD on the pavement unless it's snowy/icy. And welcome to the NPORA! Hopefully we can answer any other questions you might have!

Yah that frame looks horrible, and if there's that much rust on the frame something tells me any suspension parts are just as rusty. Wheels look good at least...

WRONG! Engines are most efficient (ie best gas mileage) at approximatly 75% throttle (theoretically engines are at there most effecient at wide open throttle, but once real world factors are accounted for it's more like 75%) I consistantly get 16MPG on mostly rural road driving and I keep my foot on the gas all the time.

LOL Tuesday night I was next to a little late 90's 2WD red Dodge truck. Now at this particular light I always really lay on the gas because the limit is 45 but most people only go 40 on this particular stretch. So the light goes green and I press the peddle about 3/4's down expecting to pull out in front of everybody (three lanes). But then I notice that the truck is keeping up with me and about to pass me! :o Well that will not do, being passed by a POS dodge truck. So I floor it and start to pull in front. To the dodges credit it did manage to keep up with me but it never managed to get beyond my door. I stayed in front all the way to the traffic at the next light. Best part: his line was shorter at the light, so when he gets in front of me I see that it's the "Sport" edition!

88 has a body lift, which makes getting at the :furious: oil filter 10 times easier. I have been meaning to get one of those oil filter cap things that will attach to a ratchet for the nissan filter but I have yet to actually do so. So far I usually end up taking a big slip joint wrench and loosening it from above that way. Also (on my 88) it looks like there's enough room for you to remove the filter through the fender (if you take off the rubber gap gaurd) but mine just barely gets hung up (with the stock Nissan filter).

88 you're always making me look bad! Didn't you say before that you'd have to weld some stuff shut to make these engines waterproof? :confused:

They show up now and again on ebay. I'v thought about the stealership but I'd assume that noone has that part in stock... I might call and ask about it tomorrow though....

You and everyone else! They're really rare. My suggestion is to hit up all your local junkyards, better chances finding one there than finding one for sale here.

No real use period for the 87-89 engines. Air filter housing isn't water tight, so you'd have to replace that like trailboss did. Plus I think there's something else that would need to be sealed but I can't think of what it is right now...

Four Wheeler had a review of the Growler in there Febuary 06 issue. Said they're a great trail tire, but it'd be a shame to put them on a truck seeing more on road action than off road action. They say if you do want to use them more on road than off road you won't be dissapointed, it's just that they are so great off road it'd be a shame to waste the tread on road. Based on the review they preform a lot more like a MT than an AT offroad. This was for the 35x14.5 r15 size Growlers. They also mention if you have wheels with rim gaurds to be carefull the rim gaurds can blow the bead at low pressures (less than 5psi usually)

Yup all you'll need is a dremell or sawzall and a BFH.

Fix the squeeks in the front suspension, they're getting damned annoying. Then L&P steering upgrade.
