WD21 OWNERS: What drive train/model trim do you have?
SC88Pathy replied to Precise1's topic in General Forums
I think he's talking about the 6 speed in the Nismo Frontier -
So this evening I tried to start the Pathfinder and it wouldn't run. It turned over, but refused to start. I could smell unburned gas from the exhaust, so I don't think it's the fuel pump. I finally managed to get it to start by pumping the gas pedal while turning it over over a 10 minute period of time. Any ideas on why the truck isn't starting? Some more notes: it did this twice tonight, so I don't think it's just a one time thing. Once it started it ran just fine. Between the first time and second time it did this I got gas, so it isn't just low on gas.

High RPM shifting... was the Power button depressed? Otherwise yes the auto shifts tend to be abrupt (the first to second shift under power especially so in mine). Sounds like it might be a good deal. Did you check for rust, on the frame especially?

02silverpathy, I would HIGHLY recommend switching to another insurance company. AIG is currently in a financial nose dive, and things are looking like they might get worse before they get better. http://online.barrons.com/article/SB121968...glenews_barrons

Take a look at my sig, I'm also running 31's. I'm not saying what you're posting is crap, just that the gains aren't that impressive considering the amount of money you're investing. I see similar fluctuations in mpg do to seasonal changes. Also worrying about the aerodynamics of an aftermarket bumper on these vehicles is kind of silly. They have the aerodynamics of a brick, your bumper is not going to change that. Worrying about the "extra" weight of the external spare is also kind of silly. Instead of having a 4000 pound truck you'll have a 3950 pound truck. Now if you remove the spare carrier, remove the passenger seats, switch to fiberglass fenders, remove all of the internal sound deadening, and have a fiberglass or carbon fiber hood built then you'll probably notice a difference. Another little talked about tid-bit. Most engines in the real world are at their most efficient (i.e. best HP to fuel use ratio) at about 75% throttle. (Theoretically engines would be at their most efficient at WOT but it doesn't work in real life due to friction and other constraints) (also I got this fact from Road and Track's technical section several years ago, sorry I don't remember the exact volume no.)

BZZZT! Wrong! With headers you're producing more HP with the SAME amount of gas. Headers only affect exhaust gasses, they have no effect on the intake. More HP + Same amount of gas = Better MPG Of course the type of people who get headers are more likely to be the type to floor it... Mods that do change the amount of fuel you use would include: hotter cams, forced induction (SC or Turbo variety), ECU remapping (depending on how it is remapped), etc Also to give you an idea of just how much your mods have "improved" your fuel mileage I get 16.5mpg in my bone stock 88 with a mix of rural mountain roads and freeway. Oh and I drive like a bat out of hell, redline is my friend.

How to get the best insurance rates and/or insurance benefits (this goes for any kind of insurance): Work in the insurance industry.

Also isn't carbon fiber designed to shatter on impact? Something tells me that might not be best for an offroad bumper... Also Slick, will these bumpers fit 87-89 Pathy's too?

You know I'v also heard of people supercharging the KA24 engine. That would probably be a better solution for off road power.

I'm willing to bet why he doesn't have a front driveshaft, because he has a Dana 44 up front. Even upgraded Dana 44's couldn't handle putting power to a 40"+ tire. Speaking of which how the hell is the rear diff holding up. I know the Nissan rear diff is tough, but I didn't think it was 40" tire tough... -
On Xtreme4x4 last week they put rockwells on their low buck buggy. When they installed them they shaved the housing, since an offroad axle doesn't need the ridiculous amount of oil that the stock bell housings hold and shaving the housing gives you much better clearance.

Photobucket automatically resizes your pictures. See: Otherwise resize your pictures you can do any of the following: Click the share button in your photo viewing application. It should then give you an option to export the photo, and one of the options should be resize (800x600 is good). Get a flickr account (flickr.com). Automatically resizes your photos into small medium and large sizes. If you buy a pro account people can also see the original resolution. Also I do believe you can use MS Paint to resize. If you're on a mac iPhoto has resize options, and GraphicConverter has really easy resize tools (a shareware app that comes with many macs).

I still have mine on, but due to the spot I ran into a ton of problems with which Msavides and Yozsi managed to breeze through last time I went wheeling I am definatly gonna be removing it.

I'm guessing that the dealership wouldn't even deal with an electric fan conversion. Or they'll tell you to convert it back to clutch type fan.

Regular has been holding under 3.00 at the non-name brand gas stations here in Santa Cruz. Saw 2.84 when coming home last night. Most big name gas stations have regular at 3.05

I just got a set of Yokohama Geolander AT-S's. I don't regret my choice for a second. They're super quiet on road, and they lapped up everything I threw at them off road last weekend with hardly a complaint. Plus they look super aggresive despite being an AT.

Have you tried running ECU codes?

I don't have a Locker, nor do I plan on getting one anytime soon. I do have the stock LSD which as far as I know is pretty good as far as stock LSD's go.

I was thinking late July for when I'd like to go anyways, so if it will be cooler around then that would be good, seeing as how the AC doesn't work on my pathy. I'll definatly check out the Gone Moab site.
-
Was this the truck KA24 or was it used in the 240sx as well? Because if it was used in the 240sx KA24 I bet a tuner shop somewhere makes larger throttle bodies...

OK I have been kicking this idea around in my head for a while: I want to go to Moab this summer. This might be my last chance to go on a long trip for a the next couple of years as I am (hopefully) about to enter the 9-5 workforce. So would any other NPORA members be up for a trip? If you can't make it but have some knowledge of the area do you have any tips/advice for me?
-
I would definatly be down for this! I tried to organise something like this for the West Coast members last year, but it fell apart rather quickly. Trying to get a single gathering of all the US/Canadian members seems like a stretch though. Maybe have one on the East Coast and one on the West? We could have it be the same day, maybe even do an internet video conference thing! (OK that's stretching it a little...)

Thanks guys. To do list: +1

OK when I crank my steering to lock either direction and I hit a bump I get a grating noise. This is on the FAQ's section (here: http://www.nissanpathfinders.com/poppingfront.htm ), but guess what? The link to the fix is dead. Anyone know what Jim was refering to here?
