Any Experience with AIMCO ventilated brake rotors?
Trainman replied to Trainman's topic in The Garage
Back on topic Quick update: When I bought the truck it had an inspection done and the following work was completed prior to the deal going through (@ 60,000 km, now has 120,000 km): New pads Resurface front rotors Resurface rear drums So unless the original owner replaced the rotors prior to 60,000 km, the ones on it are original. So I feel much better in going with the NAPA rotors if it comes to that. -

I do not think ANY R50's came with 4 wheel discs, Nissan or Infinti versions (at least those sold in NA). I hijack threads all the time, no problem if it is useful info for others -

I have asked for an actual quote, will see what the cost will be then, with shipping. If these do not work out, looks like I will go with the NAPA Premium rotors -

Some good stuff here. So how about frozen rotors? Only $118.40 US plus shipping per for 02 Pathy. Any Experience with AIMCO ventilated brake rotors?
Trainman replied to Trainman's topic in The Garage
Thanks, The issue I have is the warping of the rotors that the R50 is prone to (well discussed elsewhere on the forum) and I am looking for reasonably priced alternatives to the OEM or "econo" rotors that would typically be installed. I am happy with the brake performance, just the warping issue. Even NAPA suggested that if I could get a reasonably priced cross-drilled ventilated rotor it would be better than their "premium" line (they do not sell cross-drilled rotors). -
So I need new rotors (2001 R50, AT AllMode) and it has been suggested that I get the NAPA Premium @ $140 per or AIMCO® Extreme ventilated brake rotors @ $200 per (from Lordco here in BC). Just wondering if there is any advantage to the $200 ones or if the NAPA would be "good enough". Merci, Vented rotors:

White letters in or out on your tires
Trainman replied to Trancebear's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Black on Black: No white lettering here. -
Interesting way for someone new to the board to get going. Your post reads rather harshly and almost troll like, you may want to cool the rhetoric a bit and be a bit more civil. 88 may not know "everything" but he knows way more than I do and I respect him for that. I also value his observations as so far for me they seem to be pretty good. He is also a very good site administrator who has kept this forum going while the owner has been going through a rough patch.

This is in their photo section:

It would be easier if you posted the pictures (or links to them) you want to use here so we do not need to go though your web site to try and find them. Then the owners could just quote the post and indicate which of the pictures are theirs and if they give you an OK or not. Just a thought.

I got the BP skids and they need to be removed for each change. Thinking of making a little access door (bolt on) like they have on heavy duty equipment so the entire skids do not have to be taken off.

I need to dig up my Canucks white towels and flags, none of that Maple Leaf stuff (unless they go further in the playoffs than Vancouver. Of course they still need to get IN the playoffs ).

Why bother responding to a poster that you know you do not like? I am on a few forums that have "ignore" buttons but I do not use them, I just recognize the names and chose to ignore on my own. Sometimes they can actually post something useful

OK sweetums. Oh, I am coming to TO next week (well, Mississauga ) for a training session, 10 minutes from Pearson so I can make a quick getaway. Just thought I would warn you that TO will be inundated by foresters

2002, 120,000 km. Only issue: Variable valve timing sensor momentarily goes wonky, throwing a code that sets of the SES light. Sensor has been replaced once. Dealer can not duplicate the issue. I have found by not using cruise control on hills, I get no light. Go figure

11 years in 2006. From Wards Engine Awards 2006 "Taking its unrivaled eleventh consecutive 10 Best Engines trophy is Nissan Motor Co. Ltd.'s 3.5L DOHC V-6. The only engine to win an award every year since the program's inception, Nissan engineers improve the ever-fabulous "VQ" V-6 with new levels of power and torque for 2005."

Yep, my snowies only rub in reverse. The summers do not rub at all. The snowies are mounted on 16" Tundra rims, so the slight change in off-set may account for part of the rubbing I am guessing. -

Here is the article: Nissan Chief Gives Up North American Duties By MICHELINE MAYNARD Published: March 16, 2007 DETROIT, March 16 — Nissan chief executive Carlos Ghosn is to give up his responsibility for Nissan’s North American operations, and focus on leading Nissan and Renault of France, which he also runs, Nissan said today. The move comes a month after Nissan warned that it expected to post lower profits for the 2006 fiscal year, the first drop since Mr. Ghosn became its chief executive in 2001. Mr. Ghosn’s decision to lighten his duties came as Nissan said it would cut production at two plants in Japan, moving from two shifts to one at each factory. Mr. Ghosn also serves as the chief executive of France’s Renault, which has embarked on its own recovery plan in the face of declining sales and profits. Until now, Mr. Ghosn has divided his time between Tokyo, where Nissan is based; Paris, the headquarters of Renault; and Nashville, Tenn., where Nissan moved its North American headquarters last year from California. But in a news release, Nissan said his duties for North America would be assumed by Hiroto Saikawa, the vice president in charge of Nissan’s European operations, beginning April 1. Mr. Ghosn would focus on the overall strategy for both Renault and Nissan, said Nissan, which shuffled its management team. In the statement, Mr. Ghosn said, “The priority for our new management team is to act decisively on the multiple challenges facing Nissan and to boost our overall performance in 2007.” Frederique LeGreves, a spokeswoman for Nissan North America, said the management changes were part of a normal review by Nissan. The company usually leaves senior managers in place for two years. However, Mr. Ghosn had not made changes for three years and felt it was time for executives to be reassigned. “I think it was the right time for him” to take those steps, Ms. LeGreves said. “And it’s just the right time for him to focus on the bigger picture for Nissan and Renault. He will continue to watch the U.S. very closely.” Ms. LeGreves said Mr. Saikawa would be based in Japan, where he also is in charge of Nissan’s purchasing operations, leaving day-to-day responsibilities for North America to Nissan executives here. Mr. Ghosn became a global figure in the automobile industry for his stunning turn around this decade at Nissan. Named its president after Renault took management control in 1999, Mr. Ghosn implemented three successive restructuring plans, which collectively cut the company’s debt, improved its profits and expanded its global sales, particularly in the United States, where Mr. Ghosn put himself in overall charge of its operations. But as Nissan was rising, problems occurred at Renault, where Mr. Ghosn had led a turnaround in the 1990s that honed his reputation as a restructuring specialist. Last year, Mr. Ghosn announced a recovery plan for Renault and began leading both companies. Meanwhile, Nissan’s sales fell last year in the United States, where it experienced a product drought after a relentless push of new vehicles over the past few years. In the midst of that, Mr. Ghosn joined forces last summer with Kirk Kerkorian, then the largest shareholder at General Motors, to propose a three-way alliance between G.M., Renault and Nissan. But the discussions fell apart after G.M. demanded an up front payment from Renault and Nissan to account for the value that it thought those two companies would gain from an arrangement. Though Mr. Ghosn had said he might seek another North American partner, he has since backed away from the idea of expanding the Renault-Nissan alliance. Neither company has taken part in discussions with DaimlerChrysler, which is talking to potential bidders for the Chrysler Group, a sale that may take place as soon as this spring. [in response to a sharp slide in its domestic sales, Nissan said today that it would move to a single shift between April and June at the Oppama and Tochigi plants, which assemble about a dozen models ranging from the March subcompact to the Infiniti Q45 sport-utility vehicle, The Associated Press reported].
