  1. That is great! Wish my alt was that high up!
  2. Just a note, the DRLs are a lower power off of the High beam, not the low beams on the Pathys. (Makes for interesting effects when you wire pencil beams to only come on when you flick your headlight switch to high beams! :o )

    beep, beep

To get rid of the 'beep-beep' sound, I went to the junkers and replaced my horns with dual Cadillac horns. Not as good as an air horn, but defintely gets the 'other' drivers attention!

You should be able to find two horns (at least on my '90 I have two) behind your front bumper just below the headlights (I don't have a stock bumper anymore so I can't be exact, but they should be right behind it or very close to it).
  5. Does it happen once the engine temp gets to 'normal'? A bad 02 sensor sometimes won't throw a code.
  6. As stated, you can replace it if you like. Otherwise just keep an eye on it and make sure there is some grease in there. I always pump new grease in mine after every run to get the water out so if I tear them I don't worry. I only replace them when the rubber looks really mangled.
  7. I leave them on but I don't secure them at the bottom. This is so I can get some drainage out of them. I ususally have to pull them up to get all the crap out. That's why alot of people don't use them, but I figured they at least do something in our climate if I remember to clean them out after each run.
  8. Yes, generally SE's will have 4wheel discs while XE's are disc front, drum rear. Now, that of course isn't in stone as depending on options etc at the time of purchase, XE's can have 4wheel disc, lsd, power, etc, etc, etc.
  9. It does seem rather high...maybe they are doing more like turning the rotors, etc. As said above, it's a pretty straight forward swap. You could always pick up the calipers yourself and take it to an independent mechanic for the work. Or at least get another estimate.
  10. Iv'e read a few posts on other boards that it's a recall....I haven't asked yet up here but as abomb1 said, I believe most people have them replaced for free. I think an oldy like my '90 they would say no...? So I just continually slam them in the door.
  11. More commonly you will drown the engine before the ECU. You don't have to be in deep water to take in water. A big splash, a funny bow wave rolling back at you, etc. etc. Alot of engine drowning occur when you first nose down into a creek or river. Front end dips, then it's over. The intake is right behind the drivers side headlight.
  12. Dealer item. It's behind your instrument gauge cluster. There are some posts here with detailed instructions on how to replace it. It's a very easy job to do - simple do it yourself type of work.
  13. Not sure if this applies to the '90 and newer Pathys, but on my friends '87, he had another fuseable link that was hidden under the battery tray. He kept saying the fusealbe link (the one he only saw) was good. It wasn't until we saw the other hidden one with a flashlight. Though you say you get headlights so...??
  14. Hi Slick, Cranking the t-bars will raise the front end (if you want more info on this a quick search will provide more in depth information) and some notice a stiffer ride and others don't. Personally I'd leave the T-bars alone unless you are experiencing rubbing or you are nose down in appearance and want to level it out.
  15. You can keep the 15'' rims. Yes, you can go up to a 31" tire. (Remember, stock Pathfinders came with 31" tires as well as with the 28" tires so no lift required) Since you have the 28"s you probably have the chrome 15x6 wheels as opposed to the 15x7 alum. wheels). You can put a 31x10.5 tire on it. You may experience premature center tire wear but most just run them with less psi to combat that)
  16. I've only towed upto 2000lbs when I was stock. It's easy to get going and up to speed, but it's the stopping you have to worry about and the 'pushing' in corners. If you have trailer brakes and use a lower gear descending down that hill I believe you should be ok - but... 31's will fit - they also come stock on Pathys. Mainly the SE's but alot of XE's came with 31's stock. If there is rubbing, then the torsion bars may have sagged and will require a few turns to level out the front.
  17. They will all work. The auto linkage is cable with plenty of slack. The various makers just don't know that.
  18. The Twin Turbo requires a huge amount of extensive front end work - cutting, moving, fabbing, etc. to fit it in. The single Turbo is easier but there are still a few mods to do.
  19. On the sidewall of the tire is there some sort of psi numbers you can read? For 4x4ing, it will depend on what type of terrain you are on and what type of wheeling.
  20. One of the guys that came to the Nissan Trail Jamboree installed his Snorkel (Navara) on his Xterra. I think the pain part of it is if you want to form it tighter to the top of the fender line. I guess they say to use a heat gun. He didn't want to risk screwing up and there is a slight gap, but most won't notice it unless pointed out.

    Tow hook

I remember reading somewhere that the drivers side is for tying down and the passenger side is for towing. I've seen alot of people though getting another tow hook from a wrecked Pathy and putting it also on the drivers side frame as there are already threaded holes their.
  22. Sounds like it could be the rear link bushings are gone. If you do a search in this forum and the garage, you will come up with some good info about this.
  23. Your brake lines will be ok. However, your e-brake cables will be stretched at droop. You can use the lower bolt hole on the rear brackets and some fab up lower brackets for the front where it 'Y's". But, first and see how your e-brake lever is. If it's working 'normal' then just keep an eye on the cables at full droop.
  24. I don't know his name, but he has a post on the AC board a few years back when he built it. I think he also built a custom rear one too.
